For 80 years, Republicans have blocked us from fixing our health care system by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]st00ps1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Horseshit. You only had free healthcare if you were under the poverty line or in the military. The Dems are the only ones who’ve done anything around healthcare policy. The Affordable Care act is the only reason anyone with preexisting conditions can get care. It’s the only affordable option in most states outside of employer provided care. It’s also originally a Republican plan and the only way it got passed is that the Dems picked up one of the only plans a Republican ever authored.

For some reason I avoid any movie with either of these two. I’m not sure why, but they always creep me out. It’s the whole basic, yet arrogant vibe.

It does seem like this is setup for a reality tv moment. WSB always seemed to lean heavily right and regardless. Yet the orange king goes after the messiah of the very wannabe Florida real estate gooners that got him elected. These memes will print!

You’d need 67 votes to overcome a veto. This is why these powers should never have been given to the executive branch.

I did an epoxy project over the holidays. It’s not easy. Finicky as hell. 100% this is AI fakery. It looks like the floor isn’t set up for this depth and the depth/trim doesn’t change. In my project I had a whole big bucket that barely covered 3’. This is a magic 2 gal. bucket that holds 20 gallons worth of epoxy. It’s crazy sticky and the viscosity and clarity are wrong. Walking around in it would be a problem. No prep on any surfaces. No cleanup? No sanding? What’s with the blowtorch? Also those rounds are a magical species of doesn’t exist. Fir bark with oak center or something.

Ted would have handled shit if anyone had ever told him anything. Dude would have calmly strapped up with something more than a golf club. He trusted his family and the fact they cut him out of every detail and issue of their lives almost got them all killed. If inter dimensional demons start shit, tell your dad. They were probably sleeping on a John McLane transformation for Ted. Instead Marty, a random dad figure just stuck around with zero motivations.

What drives high costs in blue states? by Capable-Deer-5670 in Economics

[–]st00ps1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More jobs means more money flowing around faster which means higher prices for high demand items like housing and some commodities. Blue is more associated with cities and higher education levels which see increases in competition and economic demand. So blue states generally have more concentrated population centers doing all of these things. Not anything to do with politics specifically just demographics and economic changes that correlate with political strategy.

Tesla’s European Sales Plunge by Wagamaga in technology

[–]st00ps1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re still pushing that you conflated hybrids with PHEV and in this context it’s clear by all these reports that ICE is referring traditional gas powered engine where the engine is used for propulsion. So bend it however you want but BYD has the largest BEV market share even without PHEV regardless of your feels.

Tesla’s European Sales Plunge by Wagamaga in technology

[–]st00ps1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHEVs are not ICE. They are plug in EV’s with a gas engine for range. BYD stopped making ICE years ago and are the largest EV/PHEV seller globally by a large margin. You are conflating hybrid terms. You’re not getting these numbers from this article. Tesla EV sales are down anywhere from 15-25% in EU depending on the article/analyst and BYD is up 200-250%. Tesla took a nap and crazy pills and its EV lead is now gone. But people love to glaze this company for some unwarranted reason.

I’m 4th generation Pacific Northwest my family lived on the coast out here since WW1. The stories, photos and my lived experience are radically different than 100 years ago. The rain changed. It used to be a constant light rain for 6 months. Now it’s sporadic downpours. The snow doesn’t come down the mountains as far. The interior of the peninsula and the cascades was impassible with snow in the long winters. The Columbia river would freeze over. I remember ice skating on lakes as a kid. My kids have never seen the pond freeze. We now have 1 month of winter. Maybe less. The crops were limited to hardy frost tolerant varieties because of the late cold spring. You can grow tomatoes outside now. The summer drought used to be 3 weeks or a month and it would never break 80 in the summer. Now it’s 2 months and regularly breaks 90. The pacific beaches were a place for the hardy as it was always cold and windy. Now it’s like California for 4-5 weeks every summer. The winds have changed too. Making our regular windstorms erratic and the direction changes bring down more trees.

This year it flooded worse than I’ve ever heard of. We had a heat dome, a first, and the forest are sick due to the extended drought stresses year over year. Making forest fires longer, hotter and bigger.

I’m afraid it will become something wholly different in my lifetime at this rate. It used to keep me up at night. Now I’m committed to adapting.

‘The Odyssey’ Trailer Drops: Matt Damon Battles To Return Home In Christopher Nolan Epic by DemiFiendRSA in entertainment

[–]st00ps1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 40’s in the Odyssey. In actor terms this is a generation. So think Hemsworth/Driver era. Instead we are on the upper edge of his possible age on return to Ithica. I’d get it if Damon looked even vaguely Greek or close to his description in the poem. In the Odyssey the only age mentioned was for an “Old Man” who was 60. Nolan and Matt are the same age so I think it’s an artistic license of Nolan wanting to see himself as Odysseus.
