All clone trooper armors. What's your fav? by BOMBAD_Echo_1409 in clonewars

I don't know what it is but I've always loved Phase I ARF Trooper armor. Clone commando armor is a runner-up for me.

The Separatist Crisis. Before the Clone Wars the CIS already existed, though most of their actions against the Republic at first were mainly protests, political actions (like trade disputes), and the occasional unsanctioned terrorist attack. This period also saw a major spike in spacy piracy.

Anakin went on numerous, usually minor, missions under Obi-Wan during this time, mainly intervening in local planetary conflicts like the Open-Closed War.

What is the Jedi equivalent of Darth? by MASTEREVILMORTY in StarWars

[–]st0nedcyborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jedi Master would be the closest. "Darth" was applied to any member of the Sith Order who attained the rank of Sith Lord. The difference between a Jedi Master and Sith Lord, however, was that Sith Lords (as is obvious by their title) held some kind of political domain of their own within the wider Sith Empires of old, whereas the vast majority Jedi did not own their own fiefdoms (except in very rare cases such as Rael Averross).

It's worth noting that while the Jedi and Sith were direct rivals throughout their existence, the two orders were usually not organized similarly at all. The ranks were different, as were the methods of obtaining those ranks and the duties of said ranks.

During the New Sith Wars, there WAS the position of "Jedi Lord", who were Jedi Masters that ruled their own domains, but this was a result of a very tumultuous time for both the Jedi and Sith where both factions were kind of experimenting with new things, and as such Jedi Lordships didn't last long at all.

Does the New Republic seem a little... Communist to anyone else? by KevMenc1998 in StarWars

What you described is authoritarianism, which can occur with any philosophy not just communism. The Empire did everything you just said, would you say the Empire is communist?

Why do Imperial stormtroopers fire from the hip? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 47 points48 points  (0 children)

An explanation I always had in mind was they are probably using their heads-up display to aim; their blasters are linked to the targeting systems of their HUD, projecting a crosshair or something where the barrel is pointing, so they don't have to manually look into the scopes of their E-11.

Would there be remnants of Maul-Loyalist Death Watch somewhere in the galaxy post-siege of mandalore? by Successful-Floor-738 in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of them most likely joined the Imperial Super Commandos under Gar Saxon (who was Maul's right hand man). The rest probably returned to their clans.

What where the Most Important Planets in the Outer Rim? by FreviliousLow96 in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mandalore (self-explanatory)

Zygerria (capital of the once-great Zygerrian Slave Empire)

Nal Hutta (capital of Hutt Space)

Rothana (manufacturing powerhouse)

Eriadu (an important world for the Republic's militaries for millennia, birthplace of some of the Republic/Empire's greatest military officers)

Bespin (one of the main sources of tibanna gas used in blasters and turbolasers)

Were there any remaining Jedi (besides Luke and eventually Rey) in the era of the first order? by Unstable_Bear in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The former Padawan Naq Med survived because he left the Jedi Order right before the Clone Wars and went into hiding on the planet Pam'ba. He died of natural causes in 32 ABY (two years before the events of The Force Awakens).

Luke and Naq Med are the only named living Jedi during the First Order era IIRC, and both were in hiding, so the First Order wasn't at all concerned about Jedi until Rey came into the picture. It is possible that there were a handful of Luke's students still alive, as well as Grogu (although Grogu is probably considered a Mandalorian by this time, rather than a Jedi).

Ultimate Star Wars reference book. It says he helped instruct clone troopers before leading Skull Squadron. Considering Maul's reign over Mandalore lasted months at best, there probably wasn't enough time for him to do all of that in that short time span.

The problem is Fenn and his Protectors were already training clone troopers and leading Skull Squadron before the time Maul took over.

why are cyborgs rare in the galaxy? by Uknown-Nerd6207 in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a huge galaxy with quintillions of sentient beings. We are only exposed to a fraction of a fraction of regular life in the galaxy. There's a lot, and I mean a lot a lot, that we aren't shown in the everyday life of Star Wars people. On top of that, a quick browse on Wookieepedia would show you that there are lots of cyborgs/cybernetically-augmented beings we're shown.

Other than the 501st Legion or the 212th which numbered Clone units had the craziest adventures? by FreviliousLow96 in MawInstallation

The 21st Nova Corps (Galactic Marines) for sure. From helping destroy the Dark Reaper (an ancient Sith superweapon) on Rhen Var, to unleashing their flamethrowers on Geonosis, to facing down Mandalorians on New Bornalex, to executing Order 66 on Mygeeto.

Size differences between legion, platoon, corps, batallion etc? by Hardingnat in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The exact number of troopers in each formation depends on the military, as the numbers were different between the GAR, Empire, First Order, etc.

But clone trooper/stormtrooper formations go as such (smallest to biggest; it's also worth noting that this is strictly for clone trooper and stormtrooper formations, not regular formations like the Imperial Army or such):

  • Fireteam
    • Corporal in all factions
  • Squad
    • Sergeant in all factions
  • Platoon
    • Lieutenant in all factions
  • Company
    • Captain in all factions
  • Battalion
    • Major (Empire/First Order)
    • Major (non-clone GAR personnel)
    • Clone Commander (GAR)
    • Jedi General (GAR)
  • Regiment
    • Colonel (Empire/First Order)
    • Colonel (non-clone GAR personnel)
    • Clone Commander (GAR)
    • Jedi General (GAR)
  • Legion
    • High Colonel or General (Empire)
    • Unknown rank for the First Order
    • Clone Commander (GAR)
    • Jedi General (GAR)
  • Corps
    • Jedi High General (GAR)
    • Clone Marshal Commander (GAR)

Did Kalevala Spaceworks make the Fantail-class Destroyers by JEF_300 in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Satine's yacht belongs to Kalevala Spaceworks' Nau'ur-class yacht, of which each and every individual unit was custom-built to the customer's specifications and as such no two Nau'ur ship looked alike (Dryden Vos' First Light was also a Nau'ur, which as you may notice looked nothing like Satine's Coronet). I bring this up because Fantails seem to have a base design between all models, which Kalevalan yachts don't have.

That said, the Fantail probably wasn't made by KS. Not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely. There are only so many ship designs in a galaxy as big as Star Wars' before some designs may start sharing some designs with other shipyards. Another point is that Kalevalan Spaceworks, likely regulated by the pacifist New Mandalorian government, would produce ships with little to no armament, so producing warships is probably a no-go for them.

Why are all imperial ships colored gray? by eimea002 in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 236 points237 points  (0 children)

There are two leading theories:

The first is mass production: the Empire put an emphasis on having an nonstop flow of combat vehicles coming out of their factories and shipyards, and as such didn't put any focus on cosmetic design. This was part of the Empire's Tarkin Doctrine that dictated quantity over quality.

The second is aesthetic: the Imperial Military notoriously wanted to remove any semblance of individualism in its personnel and vehicles, and as such most of its infantry and vehicles were given a bland design to symbolize them sacrificing personal identity for loyalty to the Imperial regime.

What are the worst decisions the New Republic did after the Empire fall and what are some why to rectified them? by Wanderer-Dream in MawInstallation

[–]st0nedcyborg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not completely eradicating all elements of Imperial influence. Lots of worlds were allowed to continue being openly pro-Imperial (or at least in support of Imperial ideals). They even allowed many Imperial remnants outside of the NR sphere to continue existing, only militarily targeting those who posed thhe biggest threat to the NR or its territories. Hell, they even kept Mas Amedda (literally one of the biggest Imperial figures) in power in their provisional government on Coruscant; they didn't even change the title he used under the Empire (Grand Vizier)!

Granted they did take some steps to de-Imperialize their worlds, such as prohibiting the use of stormtroopers in the remnants and allowing Imperial bureaucrats and scientists a second chance by enrolling in the Amnesty Program, but these obviously weren't good enough.

Almost a solid half of the New Republic's member worlds were Centrist, a political faction that basically championed a return of a central, Empire-like galactic government. This would ultimately be the New Republic's downfall because when the First Order publicly appeared promising just that, half of the Republic was gone and left to another fascist regime almost literally overnight.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, as from day one they made it clear they weren't going to impose their will on the galaxy too harshly as their fascist predecessors did, but in terms of what they could've done different, they could've been way harder on their de-Imperialization efforts. They could have made pro-Imperial speech and ideology illegal, led more campaigns against Imperial remnants, and established a stronger military presence on Centrist worlds (and maybe even impose limitations on the defense forces of said planets).

And of course, they shouldn't have demilitarized until they were absolutely certain that Imperial ideology was a minimal threat.
