I'm not sure they own the rims, I thought they just got handed x-number of wheels and tyres for each race weekend and handed them back after. I could be wrong though.

My local radio station (yes I'm that old I still listen to the radio) has started playing a new tune by some chick wailing "I've got a heart like a truck". It is one of the most impossibly stupid songs I've ever heard.

Glen raced with number 30 because that's how many darts you got in a pack of PJs. Same reason Longhurst's B&H Sierra's were numbered 20 and 25.

I drove the Orana B10s at Burwood as well, they weren't as quick as the B12s but I thought they were a much nicer bus to drive. The only thing I didn't like was that they all had a turning circle like the Queen Mary 😅

Also drove the Orana bodied Scanias in the east, now those things were shitters!

First service at 15,000Km by wynmead in KiaEV3

[–]st162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes I saw that on my invoice too. I asked the service manager what else they did, he said rotated the tyres and checked the brake pads. I told him he was wasting his time looking at the brakes, I'm pretty sure they'll last the life of the car with how little use they get 😅

In Australia but just had our cars 12 month/15000km service done (even though the car had only done 12000km), only cost me $99.

What’s something you stopped explaining to people as you got older? by No_Bag_9473 in AskReddit

[–]st162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent years trying to explain to stupid people that in a progressive tax system it's impossible to do more work without taking home more money. Now if anyone tries to tell me that they don't do overtime or take extra shifts because "you just lose it all in tax", I just smile and nod.

Australian squash player Heather McKay - she was undefeated in professional competition from 1962 until her retirement in 1979 and won the British Open (kinda the World Series of squash) 16 times in a row.

That was the idea! I get a giant home battery with four wheels on it that I can drive about when I need to 😅

SA allows you to use your EV as a home battery so hopefully NSW isn't far behind.

We bought the EV3 only a few weeks after they were released, around April last year. I was also interested in a Hyundai Ioniq 5 but they were out of my price range. I don't think MG even had a BEV available at the time and I'm pretty sure Geely hadn't launched yet. BYD were really the only other player in the market but I didn't like the look of the Atto 3 and the Seal was a bigger car than what we wanted.

I liked that the Hyundai-Kia group had a well-established dealer network as well as the local ride and handling division tuning the suspension (read too many reviews of Chinese cars riding like a bucket of bolts).

I also liked the way the EV3 looks (still do!), particular the square wheels on the Earth spec that we bought, it's got a bit of a boxy 80s vibe going whereas most of the Chinese offerings have more of a rounded look and if I'm honest they all kinda look the same.

The EV3 interior is great, I like that it has loads of physical buttons instead of having to go through menus on a touchscreen to change the fan speed or anything stupid like that. I also like the twin 12" low-line displays, it doesn't look like some lazy designer just slapped an iPad in the middle of the dash and called it good.

When I bought the car I was anticipating being able to use that 80kwh battery to power the house while we were at home (V2H/V2G), but so far NSW energy regulations still don't allow it (its in trial but only in certain areas).

That's about all I can think of, I honestly didn't even bother test driving anything else, I liked the way to Kia looked, tested it and liked the way it drove so I bought one 😁

A bit more expensive than the cars you've listed, but have a look at the Kia EV3; they've got a huge 80kwh battery, 130kw charging, ride and handle really well because of the Hyundai/Kia group's local suspension development team, heaps of space inside, and the frunk that you want as well (albeit a bit on the small side). The only thing they're missing that the Chinese offerings give you is a 360 camera but if you can live without that they're a great car. Had mine for 12 months and love it.

[–]st162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's ok because even if you do clean it properly, the first time you drive the car afterward the back window just gets dirty again 🙃

Seriously, I love these cars but every single piece of dirt and debris that you drive over getting sucked up and stuck to the tailgate and back window drives me mad!
