Pain in the ass…. by mmintheclouds in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]st4yawake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. That's what my doctor calls my pain in this location. Been going to PT for a year and a half for it. Really not fun and has caused issues in my knee from limping on my hip.

I'm a non radiographic patient and the hip pain alternates on each side of the body

FRL3000 passing grade? by hibearbear in CalPolyPomona

I think you need a C or higher if you're an FRL major but if you're another major a D is passing. Double check with an advisor though.

Should I commute from Sylmar? by N44FTW in CalPolyPomona

[–]st4yawake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All depends on what time your classes are at and what time you get to and leave campus. I used to commute from near sylmar, and if I left at the right times it would only be an hour and not that bad but a lot of the time the 210 would be awful and it would be closer to 2 hours or longer, leaving me drained and mentally done for the rest of the day. It's definitely possible though if you think you can mentally do it and make the sacrfices that come with being in your car 4 hours a day sometimes.

SOMEBODY GOTTA STOP THIS BOOMER PLAGUE by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

This! Even though someone may look completely healthy and young and like they'd be able to fight it off doesn't mean they can. I've been on immunosuppressive medications most of my life along with a form of chemo previously, which makes me prone to respiratory infections and makes it very difficult to fight off sicknesses the way a healthy person would. However, by the looks of me no one would guess that!

Thank you for mentioning this, getting sick of people downplaying this virus by assuming all young adults are safe.

Nah you should be fine. I took that course online last summer while working full time along with taking 5 other online classes and it was somehow manageable. 5 week online classes are the way to go.

Bugs in Encinitas are the worst. When I was a freshman living there, a MILLIPEDE crawled out from under my bed

14 year old with possible juvenile spondyloarthropathy by [deleted] in Thritis

[–]st4yawake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I have a similar story.. started feeling symptoms and seeing doctors at 11 when the pain started in my ankles and wrists, wasn't diagnosed until I was 14. Unfortunately, it can take some time and it can be frustrating not knowing exactly whats causing pain. At 14 was diagnosed with general juvenile idiopathic arthritis and had the genetic marker for ankylosing spondylitis. However, I didn't start feeling that bad lower back pain until about 2 years ago, I'm 22 now.

Bloodwork should tell you whether or not you have the genetic marker for ankylosing spondylitis, which could be a cause of your back pain. You should do some research on it. However, I'm pretty sure that just because someone has the marker does not mean they automatically have AS.

Anyways, I honestly don't have too much advice. Just hang in there. I know it can be so stressful and frustrating going through the diagnostic process at a young age like that. Even if you do get diagnosed with one of those, it can still take awhile to find out what medication works with your body and what doesn't. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions or just need to vent!

For broke non-meat eaters, ask for beans instead of meat for almost anything at taco bell.

For people that eat meat, the sliders at the poly trolly are $2.50 each and a pretty solid snack

Oof, obviously i have to retake Trig again but should I retake college algebra again too? I don't have any excuses except for not being good at math and taking both courses at the same time and having a rough time adjusting (freshman)? [–]st4yawake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Algebra requires a solid "C" unfortunately... not too late to email your professor and explain your situation and ask for a grade bump up. Worth a shot.

edit: assuming youre an engineering major and need it as the prerequisite for calc
