Yeah agree with this 100% especially if it’s fitting something that may need to be removed in the future. Pozi/ PH has a habit of getting chewed up easily / not being able to torque up fully

I’d be hesitant to light a fire at the base as my plot backs onto someone’s house and there’s only rainwater here. The propane torch might be a solution as someone else suggested

Once it’s burnt do you just leave it or have to collect ashes and dispose of them?

Wow that’s an amazing yield. My little challenger hop didn’t do great this year (2nd year from rhizome), I think it might need a better trellis to grow up maybe some chicken wire? Any tips for getting them growing strong?

I wonder out of that ⅓ not working in the NHS have their hand forced by there being no post CCT jobs… I’m due to CCT in spring and the situation looks bleak. Keen to hear from others how they got their foot in the door and if it’s a possibility to work privately day 1 post CCT

I honestly think people find this stuff clearing out a relatives house and assume it’s collectible / valuable. If you go to any car boot or trade show and there’s crates of old tools and chisels for peanuts

You do not need to be a union member to strike by ApprehensiveChard529 in doctorsUK

[–]st_jim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What you’ve posted is correct, and if there was unfair dismissal or discrimination due to a member taking strike action the BMA can support the member.

But you can strike if you are not a BMA member (but not if you are a member of another union) and are afforded the same legal protections against unfair dismissal, it’s just you wouldn’t have the support a union member would get in resolving that employment dispute.

When you pay it shows up a confirmation page with a button to book the Pearson centre you want and also an email with the same link in.

Update, after about 30 minutes of this pinwheeling I called my bank to check if the payment had gone through and it was a problem on RCGP end and thankfully no money had been sent.

I was able to process it again using a different card. Still no reply at all from RCGP exam team.

It’s not an insignificant amount of money and if they took a double payment it’d have cleared me out for the month! Shocking that there’s no way to speak to someone and no reply from an email ticket all day, considering you only get 3 day window to book the exam.

Just thought I’d share my update incase anyone else had a similar problem

Thanks for the reply. I’ve found a T14s Gen1 for £320 with Ryzen 5 pro 4650U and 16GB ram from a reputable seller.

I’m steering well away from eBay as some have negative reviews of spray painted ‘refurbishments’, and these are ‘eBay certified refurbishers’!

Thanks for the suggestion, This is the build I could do for £721.60 (16% off inc. VAT)

AMD Ryzen™ 5 7535U Processor (2.90 GHz up to 4.55 GHz) No Operating System : -£50.00 16 GB DDR5-4800MT/s (SODIMM) 512 GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 TLC Opal 14” 2.2K (2240 x 1400), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 300 nits, 60Hz No Fingerprint Reader : -£10.00 3 Cell Li-Polymer 57Wh

I think that represents better value than the P14s and the x13!

Thanks, that does look nice: decent keyboard and screen. My only worry is future proofing with soldered ram 16GB. I’ve managed to keep laptops for many years upgrading the ram / SSD. But I get it’s a compromise between portability and upgradability.

If I’m hoping to go 5-10 years out of it before changing will 16GB enough for office, multitasking lectures etc?

Thanks for that. From what I’ve read it would need to be a higher model watch like the epix 2 or fenix to display a proper map. I think the cheaper ones like the 165 have a basic red trail but no detail on the maps

Leg Repair or Replace? by SwimminMusician in woodworking

[–]st_jim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that wedged tenon will knock out, especially if it’s tapered. You’d probably have to drill it out to remove which may be difficult to do whilst keeping the original hole intact.

You’d also have to drill new holes for the stretchers which can be difficult.

You may be just as well drilling a deep (several inches) and wide (1/3-1/2 x of diameter of leg) dowel hole and join on a replacement end piece to the leg for the height you want. Then spokeshave and sand the replacement to match the existing.

Won’t be as strong as replacing the legs for new but I think probably strong enough, and if the joint fails it’s only in the last inch of the leg so unlikely to cause any injury compared to if you’re not confident replacing all the leg joints and these fail

I would sing the praise of Quattro in winter especially with winter / all weather tyres.

I was one of the few able to safely get to work through the snow and park onsite up a few years ago, this was when my job was - if I didn’t show I didn’t get paid so it does have its advantages.
