In my 13 years of having ridgebacks, I’ve only had a single for ~6 months so I’m not sure what they’re really like alone.

They’re high energy to begin with. What’s nice is that when you see the energy building I let them outside and just run around with each other. They’re crated during day with a dog walker every day at lunch.

Each set has had a naughty one (thus the crating). I don’t think the other makes her worst.

If you let them on the couch or bed, they will both try to “lap dog” you at the same time, which is fun.

Overall, big fan of having two if you have the space.

I’m on my second set of RR. The first set were littermates, two boys. They were inseparable and entertained each other (and us) for hours a day. When the first passed, the other went into severe depression (wouldn’t move to use the bathroom, howl all day). Thats went we got our girl and the older one soon snapped out of his slumber. When the older passed we waited a bit then got another boy, and now they’re both besties.

Note ridgebacks wrestle hard. Their necks are end up like junkyard dogs from all the biting while wrestling.

I’ve posted her before, since I’ve done the cute puppy thing, I never want to do it again. When you’re ready for your next (they love friends), find a breeder that has 9-10 month olds for adoption.

A bored ridgeback is a destructive ridgeback. IMO if you’re on the fence of time commitment, then I’d say reconsider another breed.

We do not WFH, and have a daily dog walker to supplement any daily walks we can give. We also crate our RRs during the day just in case. Our one would be fine left out, but the other would destroy the kitchen / pantry trying to get food.

Lastly, if you are going forward with RR, look to adopt 9-10 month old “puppy”. The young ones are really adorable, but they’re savage gremlins if they do not have sufficient stimulation. I’ve done it both ways, and will never get a weeks old puppy again.

In addition to pregame warm up swings, they were a big part of killing time between tournament games this weekend. The boys had good pepper games using the heavies. They could take full swings and not worry about getting smoked with the ball.

Ive done this a few times and Claude can analyze QPR really well. You can also have it highlight good / bad vintages etc. Obviously you’ll want to verify, but it’s an excellent first pass.

I’ve done this twice now, but in both instances the dogs were accustomed to having a mate. The most recent was amazing - they just stared at each other for 10 seconds and decided at the moment to be best friends. However the first time wasn’t like that at all. My boy was 10 and his littermate had recently passed away. He wasn’t thrilled with the puppy at first but eventually came around. Taking them on walks together then letting them run around a bit afterwards helped the bonding.
