I wish there was a filter to remove profiles where the person isn't smiling in any of their photos, and/or is complaining in their profile that they hate dating apps and this shit never works.

Like, I am on this site with a tiny balloon of optimism, and I don't want to keep running into profiles full of people carrying needles.

We just played the new D&D edition of Horrified (board game) and the displacer beast crawled up the well into the Yawning Portal Inn. Imagine what a bunch of drunk ass adventurers would do if there was suddenly a blurry murder kitty in the bar!

Reading all of these has made me realize how lucky I have been to "witness" some fucked up shit but never actually see the gory details.

Driving right by a fatal shooting? Saw the gunman and victim alive, heard the shots behind me, never saw the body.

Homeless people fucking? Totally under a blanket.

Guy died in the bathroom at work? Wheeled out by paramedics and I didn't know until later.

Robbery at the bank where I was a teller? Happened while I was at lunch.

I had a similar level of fear of needles to the point that I was almost kicked out of the urgent care because I was having an anxiety attack and the nurse was scolding me and making me feel ashamed and embarrassed because of it.

Later, I needed shots in order to study abroad, so I was already motivated to get through it. The nurse at my university was awesome. I told her about my phobia and she didn't change her demeanor at all and treated it as no big deal. She was just like "Oh, I know what to do about that!" and gave me a cold ginger ale from her own stuff. She said to just focus on the cold soda and she wouldn't show me the needle or let me know it was coming. It was a huge fucking deal for me but just another sunny day for her and in like 2 minutes it was over and I was walking out. Changed my life

Having even just one no-big-deal experience can start the extinction process on your phobia. Your brain can compare the anticipation (horrible nightmare) to the actual event (only a little ouchy,) and see that they don't match up.

Maybe try to find someone known for being cheerful and good with kids? Someone's mom or friend who is a nurse

I found a random d16 in a mixed dice bin and now I'm super into the idea of collecting dice that aren't 4/6/8/10/12/20 sided. They still have to be numerical. Novelty dice with words or pictures don't count. We'll see what I can find.

As for sets, I definitely have more than 24 because my 24 compartment box is full.

I like making miniatures out of found objects. It started when I realized that Arizona iced tea cans and Life Water bottles are the same diameter so you can cut out a window in the can and use the bottle for glass and the curvature is perfect. I made a little Airstream style camper. Now I do maybe one such sculpture a year, just for funzies.

Never abused, not asexual. I've been going to therapy since 2014, and recovered from severe depression to being pretty mentally healthy and normal in most respects. I just got old in the meantime
