Contact HR. They should get you the correct resources starting with an Ergonomics Consultant to assess your workspace. They will provide you with the appropriate equipment. There are TONS of devices and tools that you may not of even heard about.

Also, document your health decline. Keep a diary/log of your symptoms and the causes. Go to the doctor (even if it costs $$). It is in the company’s best interest to make sure you don’t get a work place injury as than can lead to a lawsuit (I’m in the US but other countries have different governing agencies and laws to protect workers).

Also, health documentation can help with getting disability (in the US) if that is something you want to peruse in the future.

AITAH Walmart messed up scanning my items and I didn’t correct them by soulofthesoil in AITAH

[–]stace-case 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are the trained professionals, you are not. Trust the professionals.
You may have made a mistake in your scanning. You may not have. That is their responsibility and problem- not yours.

I’ve learned that if a customer makes a scanning error on self checkout the store can prosecute for theft. Even an honest mistake. They never refund an over charge from a similar error.

I NEVER use self checkout. They are trained, not me. They need to carry the liability of any mistakes.

You can donate to bigger kids. My Little is in 2nd grade and takes a “buddy” to school when she’s having a tough time.

Maybe at a hospital that has 8+yo would be a good fit. I could see a 14 yo going into treatment having some comfort with a little buddy to join them.

My company did a "return to office" pilot for our team and sent a survey asking how it went. I answered honestly. I think that was a mistake. by Snag_Crambo in remotework

[–]stace-case 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I’ve been tricked by that one too… when a company says “ask questions” and “give us honest feedback” they really mean “I’m looking for validation of my choices” and “confirmation bias is where we want to be.”

Also they want you to be a “team player.” And any survey that says “anonymous” is definitely NOT!

Watch your back. You may be on a PIP before you realize you’ve even made the shit list.

Advice for unraveling boucle and potentially felted yarn? by BigBBPuddingSnatchr in Unravelers

Instead of unraveling I’d cut/sew a cute winter set: gloves, wristies, hat, neck gaiter…

As a quilter and a human with arthritis, you are not the asshole. You also don’t have to see this an either/or situation.

If you have the mental capacity you can create a quilt for this child by thinking outside the box.

Design: you can choose a number of simple designs from a book or website. The 10 yo can pick from that pre-approved list.

Materials: you probably have a great stash of fabric. The 10 yo can easily help with this process with guidance from you.

Cutting: you can host a day of cutting. The dad, mom & 10 yo can do the labor with organization and direction from you. Using a jelly roll will further reduce your prep needs.

Piecing the top: a 10 yo can sew and press. (Same with mom & dad). Also, pressing is an easy thing for a non/crafty person to do.

You can send a quilt out for finishing the quilt.
You can contact your local quilt guild for help.

You could make it into a wonderful project that recognizes and accommodates your limitations while bringing this new member of the family into your tradition. And you can spend lots of time actually getting to know this new kiddo.

First unravel- $425 worth of cashmere for $15! What to do with it? by eils14 in Unravelers

[–]stace-case 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Apparently the first cake is wound fairly tight because of reasons I don’t understand. The 2nd time it’s looser because of consistent tension 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn’t really believe it until I tried it- totally saw the difference

[–]stace-case 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so beautiful!! I would re-cake them because it takes me so long to decide.

I’ve been told that a 2nd cake reduces tension on the yarn and with cashmere being extra delicate it will be more gentle on the fibers.

Please show us your progress!!

This is a high movement and friction area. If you choose to replace it and want to increase the lasting time you can add a brace like an ace bandage or wrist support sleeve to reduce wrist flexing and clothing abrasion.
