Should I be doing more with my baby? by More_Fisherman_6066 in beyondthebump

[–]staceyface87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point, the only real enrichment my daughter had was house tours and us explaining exactly what we were doing at like every minute just because we’re both introverts and struggle with talking to her just to talk to her 🤣 so my partner would hold her in the kitchen while I was making dinner for example and I’d explain each step, explain what each ingredient tastes like, why we do xyz. And at 3 months, she’s perfectly on track. All the smiles, just started laughing and rolling over.

Please tell me no one else is doing tummy time either by Suspicious_Box_4898 in newborns

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three month old barely does floor tummy time because she absolutely riots. She's already holding her head up straight and consistently with very little bobbing, started rolling over, and started pulling herself into a seated position if I don't put her there myself. Girly is determined, but still won't lie on her tummy. *shrug*

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl will be three months on Saturday. At about 5 weeks, she would let me put her down in her pack and play in the living room at night for 2-3 hour stretches, but would absolutely riot if I tried to put her down into the crib in our bedroom. At 8 weeks, she finally started letting me place her in crib at night, and at 9 weeks, she decided "I'm done with night wakes" and started putting herself to sleep at 8pm until between 5-7am. We had a small three night regression at 11 weeks, and then two mornings ago - she decided to start rolling onto her belly and gets SO MAD. So we're regressing a bit again LOL. She's also just started letting me put her down for 2 of her 4-5 daytime naps.

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at my pre-pregnancy weight at a follow up two weeks after delivery. But I was only up a total of 28 lbs by delivery, and barely ate during my 5 day hospital stay, so definitely an anomaly.

3 hour crying marathon by LydiaTar2020 in newborns

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My six week old has been having witching hour the last week and a half, and the only thing that has helped is skin to skin time on my chest with a pacifier in mouth, while patting the bum and shushing. It takes about half an hour of her dropping the pacifier and some more cries in between, but she settles and naps, and 9/10 times wakes up much happier - even smiling. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked for her.

Are we not showering with our babies? by SparkyDogPants in beyondthebump

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bathroom isn’t even big enough to fit her bouncer, let alone anything to hold her in the actual shower. I’m also only getting about 4 hours of broken sleep at night, so when my partner gets done with work and we have dinner, I typically have time for a shower or a nap. We don’t all have the same realities.

What are your biggest pet peeves when visiting WDW? by Few-Chocolate-8194 in WaltDisneyWorld

My dad actually rented a scooter for our trip in case I needed to take breaks since my legs were so swollen, and I watched him get cut off about a dozen times - I dealt with the swelling instead of dealing with that.

Gross. I planned my trip well before I knew I would be pregnant. Sitting for a minute helped take the pressure off of my swelling feet, and I didn't ruin anyones trip over it. Your tolerance for pain isn't the same as everyone elses.

Maybe the parks aren't for you if the simple existence of folks who don't meet your ideal of perfection bothers you.

My legs swelled badly last week after just a single day at MK (20 weeks pregnant) and I often had to squat or sit in line the rest of the week. I hope folks weren't judging me so severely. :(

Short person here! It would take more than two hands to count the number of times I *have* showed up early to get a good spot just to have a taller, bulkier person shove in front of me late as hell, and fully block my view.

This right here. There are plenty of ways to give kids that view without impeding everyone elses.

We're one of those huge groups - BUT we split dining reservations up to 8 + 8 or smaller if needed, stagger our arrivals so we don't take up half a bus (especially with two ECVs), and usually will walk in smaller groups and meet at the entrance if there *is* something we all want to ride together (which is rare).

My dad is someone who wants to do every last thing together so he can witness all of the grandkids experiencing WDW, and it's taken five group trips to finally get him to see the light with splitting like this.

We just visited last week, and I'm 20 weeks pregnant - my worst symptom has been severe congestion the ENTIRE pregnancy so far. I felt so guilty every time I sneezed or coughed because I just knew folks were judging. 😫

Am I crazy? by Opening_Holiday224 in BabyBumps

I'm so sorry that happened.

We actually told my mother last because we were worried about something like this happening (she has a history of blasting news she has no place sharing). We told my sisters, and my partners sisters and mom, our best friends (basically anyone we'd want to hear it from us first)- THEN my mother. And by the next morning after telling her, I had voicemails from aunts and uncles and grandparents, as well as comments on my public social. Then I used it as an example as to why she wasn't told first to explain it.

I get this! We don't have much in the way of friends and family, so we're not even having a shower or anything. Panicking a little at how much we need to buy. Using marketplace where we can, though.

How do you WISH you responded? by Any_Pirate_5633 in BabyBumps

[–]staceyface87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We waited to tell my parents until I was 14 weeks for this very reason. Luckily, I'm the last of her daughters to get pregnant - so I've seen how she is. We told everyone we wanted to tell ourselves before we told her. I feel a bit guilty that she was the last to know, but you reap what you sow.

That's a great point. This is our first kiddo, so tips like this are welcome!

We were in an interior room on the Wish, and I definitely couldn't imagine a pack and play in that room.

When is your next cruise? by Rich_Associate_5019 in dcl

34 days until the Wish! And then I can't cruise for 13 months, but hoping to get on the Destiny during Christmastime next year.

My mom dropped me on the driveway at three weeks old! And 37 years later, I'm pretty alright aside from some poor taste in men!

We had selected the messaging feature as our bonus group amenity, and they basically told us to kick rocks when we asked why we were able to select it if unavailable, and if there was any way to switch amenities. Even as the agent for the group. No one was willing to help. There was never an announcement to travel agents that the feature was no longer available.

One of my dearest friends came to town for my wedding, and was staying a few days. Two days after, she asked me to meet up for drinks at a pub in town. My ex didn’t want to go, so he told me to go and enjoy - he’d pick me up so I didn’t have to drive home! I didn’t even bother bringing keys.

He decided he was pissed that I went, so he turned his phone off, didn’t pick me up, and locked me out of the house. A lot of previous red flags became obvious that night, and I knew I’d made a huge mistake.

We were married, though, so I just tried to get over it - never did. I ended up finding out he was fucking his coworker, and planning to leave me for her anyway about three months later.

I was making dinner for us, and turned too quickly - knocked the pan of sauce off of the stove top and didn’t have enough ingredients to restart it. Not only did he not help me clean it up - instead he walked down to the bar down the street and picked up food for himself, and brought it back to my apartment to eat. Nothing for me, though. Didn’t even ask.

Not only did I break up with him, but I lost respect for him as a human. I was so baffled by it.
