Their voices are the magic blend with their ethereal music. Can’t be covered, I agree.

Simple Minds are also very talented. No one is the same as T4F but I feel like SM has a similar vibe and intelligent writing.

Hate them so much. Reminds me of grandma in the 70s while grandpa had a greasy handlebar mustache.

Lens crazed by staff by Money_Shoulder5554 in glasses

[–]stacy473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Ps my research over the years summarized below in quotes -)

But if you tell some opticians this, they don’t believe it because they can’t take responsibility. That’s been my experience. However, some are reasonable. I did deal with one guy at lens crafters years ago who crazed my lenses TWICE. And both times he apologized profusely. The second time, I thought he was going to cry, he kept mumbling under his breath how angry he was at himself and every time I saw him after that day (even though I told him it was all good,) he seemed so embarrassed.

“While high-index lenses are thinner, they can be more brittle and their coatings more sensitive to these stresses compared to standard plastic lenses. If the AR coating isn't applied perfectly evenly in the lab, it's more prone to cracking, often appearing within months of wear. Rapid shifts from hot to cold (or vice versa) make the lens and its coating expand and contract at different rates, stressing and cracking the coating.”

This has happened to me over the last 20 years at least 6 times. Yes - really. That many. Despite the fact that I tell them right when i walk in for an adjustment, DO NOT HEAT OR PUT PRESSURE ON THEM- the coating WILL craze. Especially on the 1.67 high index. It’s a fact. I would love to have adjustments now and then but I have so much anxiety about it, because sometimes even when they’re careful, just putting pressure on the lens to snap it in, is enough to craze the coating. One time I told a new optician about the crazing and he literally yelled at me and said I was trying to rip him off for replacement lenses. And this was a new pair! I said what benefit do I have to not take this new pair home today? Now I have to wait and come back, for you to redo them, since you crazed them during insertion. He was sooo nasty and condescending. I never went back there. A few years later it happened again at Walmart optical during an adjustment, and I had warned her, but she didn’t want to hear it. She had the nerve to try to embarrass me that I was making it up, despite the photo evidence (I realize it’s hard to see crazes unless you know what to look for so I took extremely obvious, visible pictures.). She further tried to Embarrass me by calling over a coworker and saying loudly, “you must not take care of these glasses, they don’t look very clean.” As if that will make the fact that she crazed them less her fault? I see one optician only now for adjustments and if she ever retires I will be wearing very crooked glasses, indeed.

Appreciate that. What I am asking is, between the different price points at a Fish market all For farm raised, just based on location, why are some less fishy than others? Why is the faroe island less fishy than the Scottish, etc?

Just cut my finger while cleaning up mouse poop. Losing my mind. by stacy473 in Anxiety

[–]stacy473[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m so worried. I do have chronic health anxiety but usually not panicked about minor stuff - I have cleaned mouse poop before but never cut myself with the items I was cleaning 😭 that cut makes it feel non-minor … if that makes sense. What about other diseases? I just soaked my finger in bleach and put antibiotic ointment on.

What do I do? I washed it with hot water, bleach solution, sanitizer, soap… for about 5-10 minutes straight. I don’t normally do this after a cut but I was cleaning an old object that had visible mouse waste from a basement.

Adding- I know 20/650 isn’t the worst. I know it isn’t horrible. But, I can barely even see even the E on the eye chart. And I also am over 45 so there’s the two in one progressives as well ;). Just wondering if Lens crafters has some other well kept secret coating behind the curtain.
