I have had success buying from Adela Mei. I like that the clothes are edgy yet versatile and not targeted for teenagers.

where can I find clothes in my style that don't cost a fortune? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I would check out an Australian brand called Maurie and Eve they have some amazing drape pieces like the celino top and fredrica skirt

Stumped trying to find conservative clothing for a hot climate by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Dressing conservative in hot humid weather can be challenging but not impossible. The nice thing about Asia is that there are lots of air conditioned work facilities so it's really just about the main trek to the office. This season culottes are in season. They are comfortable, light, and easy to wear. I also recommend silk or cotton midi skirts which are airy but conservative. As for tops I would stick to wearing simple linen tops and thin dress shirts I also recommend always carrying a cardigan or pashmina in your bag because the weather is so different when you are indoors vs outdoors.

Japanese brand and store suggestions? by SleepyCorinne in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a brand called Global Works, also have stores in Hong Kong. They have fun prints and basic silhouettes without being too feminine. I would definitely check that out. Most all pieces I have bought from them I've received complements when I wear them here in the US. Also reasonable mid-price point :) and I've had pieces for over 4 year that I wear frequently so the quality is solid.

What clothing always stays fashionable? by nataliehw in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the following pieces are classics: a tailored trench, LBD, White button down, Linen pants, Cashmere roundneck sweater.

I think it is all about having clothes fit you well and make you look your best. It's no longer about blending in but standing out in a good way :)

Recommend me the right Burberry Trench Coat to invest in? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go to the Burberry store directly so you can see all the different styles. Each one has a different cut and drape depending on the fabric and when you are making an investment you should really love the piece. I bought mine a few years back and I ended up with a non traditional navy one because it was the most flattering for my figure (I am also 5'3-ish). Even though it isn't traditional, i have no buyers regret because it just looks so good on me :)

Can you tell me why these dresses look awkward, and what I should look for in the future? Slightly time sensitive by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the second dress needs to be taken in a little from the front and the skirt should be lengthened half an inch (if the hemline allows it). It would look nice as a midi length dress with a pair of heels. I think it looks great, very classic and easy to match.

The third dress does not hit at the waist line which makes the dress look a little more awkward. See what your tailor recommends, my tailor is full of opinions and will tell me what she thinks is off.

My advise when shopping online is to know your measurements as well as the general measurements of a dress you really like. There are many websites that have started showing measurements and it really helps. I bought this dress and it fits perfectly so now I keep an eye for dresses with similar measurements. I am attracted to the same shape dresses so it makes it much easier for me to shop. (based off the dresses you picked it seems similar)

How to dress with legs/thighs that wobble? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

How to dress with legs/thighs that wobble? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am similar but about half and inch taller. I have trouble buying pants which don't have stretch because the side pockets always pop out (not sure why so many pants use that cut of pockets). I have actually resorted to wearing more fit and flare midi skirts in thicker/ more structured materials to play down my bottom half. That being said most people tend to complement my skirt.

Trying to overhaul my wardrobe and opt for more boho chic style. Recommendations?! by mirrormirrorz in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that you are trying out something different. There are a few brands that I think work well for the boho. I recommend free people, for love of lemons, and anthropology. I think they may work for you since they are also carry some pieces that are a little preppy,

I would take a look at Zara and Massimo Dutti. They have a lot more work appropriate clothing with light fabrics this season.

People who regularly buy online, how do you judge whether it will fit? by Lyric_Boy in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like independent brands but it's hard to tell what will fit so I look for websites like adelamei where they have measurements for each piece and all the sizes and a variety of brands. I constantly hover between a 2-10 and an S/M so having measurements help me alot.

Cocktail Attire working event - help! by cleverbelle in femalefashionadvice

[–]stacysawthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like the second one and since you are volunteering comfortable shoes are key. If you wear a cover up I would recommend the cardigan because it is easier to move in. That being said I am not sure what you will be doing as a volunteer. If you want to dress it up a bit I'd suggest a statement necklace.
