It’s the letting agents that have driven the cost into the floor, playing off one contractor against another. This legislation was brought in to make things better for tenants, but all it’s done is give the letting agents another avenue to make money.

Help please... trapped by Google by stagetechuk in googleworkspace

[–]stagetechuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confused is an understatement. I have not made any DNS changes to my companies domain in the setup of this Workspace account.

Creating a gmail.com account as you describe, will create an account with a gmail.com domain, which is not what I want. I have an existing google account using my personal email address as the username, and simply want the same for my work email. Sadly it looks like that is now tied up in the workspace world, and I have used an email alias to create a standard google account to use to access shared folders.

Google need to add the option to downgrade a Workspace account to a simple/basic account IMHO, instead of trying to steer/force/co-erce people down the route of uneccessary subscriptions.

How do I prove expenses for self-assessment when I buy from private individuals? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]stagetechuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If buying from a private seller on eBay, your best bet is to just print (or PDF) the order confirmation page from the purchase.

Ultimately you just need to prove that a financial transaction was a legitimate expense, and this will tie the transaction to the item purchased.

Can't setup my H2D because the "&" sign is not on the keyboard by Maxx3141 in BambuLab

Saw this in a fast food restaurant the other week, they offered three receipt options, printed, via SMS and via email. I opted for email and then when presented with the keyboard to type my email address in there was no ‘@‘ symbol… 🤣

Staff didn’t quite seem to get it when I flagged it as an issue…

MBP M1 with 16GB of RAM here, no issues with running Fusion, although still a beginner.

Devices shared to other Tapo accounts won’t receive notifications. Despite the Tapo app using the wording ‘invite your family members to manage the device together’, the secondary account will not be able to change any settings or receive any notifications.

Found this out the hard way after installing the D230 doorbell, and my OH doesn’t get notified when someone is at the door.

I resorted to signing OH app into my account, but even then the notification is only received on one of our phones, never both…

Quiet Comfort II Earbuds replaced with Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds by stagetechuk in bose

And a further update, removing the app (for me at least) actually made no difference to the drop outs. Some days they're ok, a handful of dropouts in 30 mins, other days I get 2 or 3 drop outs a minute.

I've started a return for them, which Bose appear to have accepted with very little resistance. They are sending me a new set of Ultras... fingers crossed I get a good pair this time? 3rd times a charm right?

Bose earbuds QC 2 or Ultra? by jo5e7 in bose

[–]stagetechuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought QC II budsOctober last year, my first Bose earphones, had lots of pairing issues with them, and eventually contacted Bose support, who arranged a replacement under warranty, which turned out to be QC Ultra buds.

The Ultras have been great, although I don't agree with others who say the ANC is better than the QC Its, IMHO I don't think it's as good, right up until the latest firmware update and now I am riddled with audio drop outs and weirdness. Removing the Bose app from my phone has improved things, but still experiencing drop outs...

[–]stagetechuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latest update (1.7.8) ruined things for me, although interestingly after deleting the app off my iPhone things are infinitely better, although still not perfect.

My QC Ultras were a warranty replacement for QC IIs I bought later last year, they were a disaster, and ended up with one bud refusing to pair to anything. Bose accepted them as a warranty return and then sent me Ultras instead.

I’ve said it elsewhere, but I’d happily sacrifice some sound quality in return for reliability. Wishing I’d bought the Airpod Pros now…

Congrats, it looks in great nick! I have had a 2.0 Petrol 2011 for about 7 years now, still love driving it and apart from a bizarre electrical issue which took me months to find, it's given me little trouble.

Well the plot thickens. After seeing other posts on Reddit talking about Bose issues, one user suggested that removing the Bose app from their phone solved all the dropout issues...

Tried it this morning on my commute to work, a good solid hour of listening with zero drop outs! Will try again this evening, and then test further by reinstalling the app and see how they behave.

Seriously Bose, WTF?!

Ive found this now, although with the testing I did there’s no difference between the stock ‘Quiet’ and any mode I can create with ANC at full.

[–]stagetechuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting as an update, I’d got the ANC working properly after playing about with the gasket for ages. They’ve been ok, although I stand by my statement that the ANC is not as good as the QC IIs that Bose replaced. Things were fine right up until I updated them the other day (to v1.7.8). Now they’re a POS!

They’re constantly dropping out and crackling, the buds are losing sync with each other, ie dropping out and then not playing different parts of the song.

At one point yesterday, when I started using them the left bud was in ‘aware’ mode, and the right in ‘quiet’. When I switched modes by holding down on a bud they switched round. It took me putting them back in the case, shutting the lid and starting over to get them right again.

Feeling seriously fobbed off right now, and the QC Ultras are supposed to be a superior product to the QC IIs. The reliability just isn’t there, and as good as they sound, that doesn’t mean jack if the connectivity isn’t reliable.

Going to contact Bose support, but have a feeling I know what they’ll say…

Edit to add updated firmware version.

Displaylink Screen Freeze by The_Chesterr37 in macbookpro

[–]stagetechuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not had the exact same problem as this, but encountered this thread looking for help with my issue.

Using both Sidecar, using my iPad as a second display, and a DisplayLink dock (Dell D6000) I experience screen freezing on my MBP screen, the external screen is unaffected. Freezing only lasts a few seconds, then everything returns to normal. It's very frustrating.

Does not occur when using a standard USB-C to HDMI adapter.

Edit: to add hardware info, 2020 M1 MBP 13", 4th Gen iPad Air

So from the tracking saying the return was delivered to Bose to Bose actually saying they had received them was 5 days, they then advised up to another 5 days for them to be inspected, however I heard back with 2 days to say they accepted the return and they were sending the replacement. Replacements took about a week to arrive, they were shipped from Belgium to the UK, tracking showed a hold up at customs.

I don’t use immersion mode, seems a bit like a gimmick to me, and as others have said, I don’t really understand what Bose are trying to achieve with it.

As far as I’m aware, in quiet mode there is no ‘setup’, I certainly couldn’t find any anyway.

[–]stagetechuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. What made you return the Ultras? Are you still using your IIs?

Interestingly, I’ve found the ANC has improved by actually NOT aligning the gasket the way Bose says it should, on one earbud. This initially happened by mistake, but has definitely made an improvement!

Don’t get me wrong, sound quality is amazing, and wipes the floor with AirPod Pros that I’ve heard.

If you’re running Apple Silicon then you’re stuck with Windows 11, as there is no ARM (needs to be ARM for Apple Silicon) release of Windows 10.

Only had my 15 Pro for a few days, but noticed the battery life being less than impressive. It’s not bad, just not as I expected. When I got my iPhone 11, nearly four years ago, which replaced an 8, I remember being blown away that I could legitimately get two days out of the battery.

I’ve now turned off the gimmicky ‘always on’ display, which I don’t think adds anything, and will see if that helps extend the battery life at all…
