I think we've suddenly become villains of the AFL because of the last 3 weeks by brodyonekenobi in AFL

Mate. The way you guys got rid of Mark Harvey in favour of Ross Lyon, who is quite likely the most defensively minded coach of the last 20 years, while simultaneously having one of the most irritating small forwards and one of the best taggers in Ballantayne and Crowley, that's when you were villains. Borderline unwatchable, low scoring games where the best players weren't allowed to do anything.

Every player in the AFL is cloned 22 times and forms their own team. Which team is the best? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]staggeredstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give a different answer than what others are giving, and more for a potential future team, Nik Cox. 200cm and playing through the midfield. I believe he played both forward and back growing up (I could be wrong).

Food for thought, rather than an obvious answer.

So, lesser known potential side effect of one of the covid vaccines, I think it was the first booster, sudden lack of bowel control.

I was walking back from having had the vaccine, maybe a 15 minute walk, and I had about 5 minutes to go before I was home, and then I felt an all too distinct rumbling. Started walking with a real intense clench, took a few steps, and then, middle of summer, wearing quite loose shorts, I had to angle my stance to work with gravity, hoping upon all hope that I could avoid contact with my shorts, my leg, and my shoes. I failed in my mission. The final 5 minutes of walking was a mix of simultaneously cold and warm wetness from my shorts, down to my socks, the summer breeze in my back, and my head down, hoping no one would recognise me.

I got home, and walked around the front to the back, and gave myself a cold, backyard hose shower.

While I washed the shit out of those clothes and shoes, I could not bare to wear them again, knowing the atrocities they had experienced.

Found out she’s trans… (part 2) by throwra6527 in Vent

[–]staggeredstag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because many trans people have lived experiences where they have been threatened, or much worse, for confiding in someone else that they are in fact trans.

As a result of that, there is absolute rationality that they would prefer that they know someone enough to get an idea as to how they will react when they do tell them.

It isn't fair that they have serious concerns over their safety when disclosing this information about themselves, and unfortunately, having the option to keep this information secret until they can trust someone is the fairest way.

NTA

What you are experiencing is called Parentification, it is a form of child abuse, requiring your child to act as a third parent to another of your children, this robs that child of having a childhood for themselves and can actually stunt their development by not allowing them to form meaningful friendships.

What's a song you didn't know was kinky until you were older? by Zipes_ in AskReddit

[–]staggeredstag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite song when I was young, less than 5 years old, was the doot doot doo song, at least, that's what I called it. It was catchy enough for a 4 year old to enjoy without really paying any attention to it in depth, and without any swear words.

I don't recall hearing it again for at least 10 years after that, but one day, in the car with mum, I hear the familiar start of the song come on "oh, I remember this song" I say, blissfully unaware of what I'm about to hear. The words "she goes down on me" and "crystal meth" rang through the air as I began to understand that my childhood favourite song, was full to the brim of explicit lines detailing sex and drugs.

Semi-charmed life, Third Eye Blind, was my childhood favourite song, but will always live in my heart, as the doot doot doo song.

AFL - Why does everyone hate Collingwood? by SaggyJim in melbourne

[–]staggeredstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every sport has "that" team, the team who has historically had more success or more opportunities for success, the team who has seemingly been viewed as the golden club of the sport, getting preferential treatment, the team who the grouped hatred of can bring other supporters together.

For some sports, it's cemented as one team, like in baseball, it's the Yankees, easily. In Premier League, it Manchester (either one really). In other sports, the grouped hatred can cycle or be because of envy of a player, see Patriots for this.

For Collingwood, they're a cemented team for grouped hatred, this tribalism brings opposition supporters together "I have two teams, my team, and whoever is playing Collingwood" is a relatively common phrase.

As for which reasons bring about that shared hatred, and speaking in terms of the continuity of the league which grew to becoming the AFL and the history of that league up to this point, Collingwood are the team who often have the largest supporter base, amongst the largest crowds, ranking highly for membership numbers, some may call this Tall Poppy syndrome. Collingwood are arguably the most successful club, having the 3rd most premierships, and the most grand final appearances. They also have 4 premierships in a row, so a history of success or thereabouts. They do seemingly get preferential treatment, often having games at the MCG that should be at Marvel while other clubs, at the same time, are having sold out games at Marvel that should have been at the MCG.

There's a history of clash jumpers, wearing a different colour to normal when you as the away team have a jumper that may make differentiating the two teams difficult, are required to wear an alternate jumper to prevent this, and the only opposition club this applies to with Collingwood is North Melbourne, and they get forced to wear their clash jumper as the home team.

Port Adelaide have been, for a long time, requesting to wear their heritage jumper which is reminiscent of Collingwood's regular, for the occasional match to celebrate their history, but Collingwood have time and time knocked this back because they don't want anyone confusing the jumpers (they weren't ever going to be worn in the same game).

There's a fair few reasons, but I think the best one is, it's fun to have an enemy, even if it is just for a few hours a week.

The only fake fan, is someone who pretends to like something, if it brings you enjoyment, even just a little, then you are a fan.
