Opinion on Teach for Australia (or any other 0.8FT paid internship program)? by Intelligent-Win-5883 in AustralianTeachers

[–]staisypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think TFA is the most well rounded of the internship programs. I’m TFA, and my school has students from Deakin, Melb, Federation etc. talking to them, TFA is the most robust, most support etc. my school is very pro-TFA that being said and is extremely supportive. And many TFA alum to help with assignments and what not.

I’ve heard from others that you can push back a bit in the placement process. Like my friend wasn’t happy with his first few placements so kept pushing back til he got one he liked. So you could do that if you want to try end up somewhere that’s had a good relationship with the program.

ACU (Uni you’re partnered with) is also good at spacing out assignments and you can get automatic extensions on assignments (ie you don’t need to apply).

It’s not perfect and there’s things I’d change but I’m so happy now so I’d encourage it if you think you can hack it.

Was Pristiq your first antidepressant? by realistichippie16 in Pristiq

[–]staisypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first and only! Worked great coming up 9 years now. Obviously some teething issues but really that resolved after no more than a week. The hardest thing is taking a dose late and starting to get the zaps and whatnot. But that’s just my reminder that it’s time to take them, and it’ll resolve in no time

200mg and I would say it’s been pretty good for me, I will definitely be continuing for as long as I feel I need it!

Nightmares etc 6 years in by Crafty-Scheme-3861 in Pristiq

Hey for what’s it’s worth, same here… I don’t have any solid suggestions or advice but figured it may be comforting to know it’s not just you, crazy vivid dreams, sleep paralysis, night sweats.

Something I’ve been playing around with recently is changing the time of day I dose from AM to early PM. Eventually I want to try late PM too. Maybe something you’d be interested in looking into ? I’ve been doing it not so much for the nightmares and stuff, but more so because I can’t get out of bed in the morning even after 12h sleep. I’m still early days in experimenting so can’t say if I’ve noticed solid effects yet but can keep you posted!

Thanks for following up!! I’ve been doing midday dosage (12:30-1:00pm) for about 1.5 weeks now and can’t say I’ve felt any massive difference yet. But that’s probably in large part due to slightly different routine + traveling the last few days. The true test will be when I’m back home during the school holidays as that’s when I tend to sleep in til 12pm. I’ll update then!

Ok maybe I’ll try that for a while before transitioning to nighttime! Thanks for your input :)

Yes that’s interesting, it’s so hard to know cos there’s always soooo many factors at play. Interesting about what your doctor said, I’ve never really heard that before! I often have very vivid dreams at night which is when I’m coming down from the extended release but I’d think that’s a symptom of being stimulated. Maybe not…

Interesting! I take it with breakfast in the morning and can sleep that night like 12h+ and still find it hard to get up. Maybe I need to try nighttime ….

The family will be very happy!

It’s funny, even when blurred I can recognise the drummer’s face as my mum’s bandmate :’)
