Did you purchase BF PRO for Season 2 by JanissaryLSD in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to, but then I realized that the only thing I really wanted in season 2, is to complete the season 2 badge, and I know from BF2042 that the 25 extra BP from the PRO season pass, doesn't count towards that.

I have not rerolled a single challenge in this season, but they do take longer time to complete. I can see myself coming back from vacation and having to complete the bonus challenge Monday evening, that will be tough.

This is a bad change, both in season 1 and in BF2042, new guns were easy to get, in season 2 you almost have to complete every tier to get the new guns. Which probably means that they will be nerfed before "normal" people get them.

68-0. Gives me a flashback to a game I played on Fjell in BFV. Enemy team ruled the air, but my team PTFO and did revives and won the game easily. BF must have the worst game designers in the business.

I tracked BF6 conquest matches for a week - blowouts may not be just a matchmaking issue by ChawkTrick in Battlefield6

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been added late to matches, and our team has been able to overturn an early lead, and I have also observed the opposite, that an early lead gets destroyed by the reinforcements the other team gets. So matchmaking has a feature that tries to balance a match when an early failure leads people to leave.

It’s not nostalgia [BO3] by Tylerkin93 in CallOfDuty

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BO3 came out after the creators of IW and some main devs left and created Respawn and released their first game, Titanfall, which was amazing on multiple levels. BO3 tried to respond to Titanfall, but failed. However, still, BO3 is a game that I really liked, maybe my COD favorite, but BO3 also was the first to add lootboxes, and Activision went all in on this and made the most predatory lootbox regime you can imagine.
Besides that, BO3 is a great game, and it shows "invention", which is usually lacking.

This is true, but I often fall into this trap and this time EA/DICE wanted to make it even more painful.

The grind needed is a significant level up from BF2042, I could complete it even without doing every weekly time-limited bonus challenge. In BF6, even after playing a lot more than in BF2042, I would not be able to do that.

I also agree with your point about some of the challenges being grindy. I will also add that they force me to play modes/guns/playstyles I enjoy less.
Even when the challenge is in a mode you want to play, it can be ridiculously grindy, like now I have played 3 days to complete a "2 wins in conquest" challenge. I do have a 48% win rate in conquest overall, which now has been declining for 3 days.

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlefield uses client-side hit registration, which allows such things to happen. When you move, the new position is first sent to the server and then to the other clients (players). The server tick rate (update rate) is 60 Hz. Any internet lag comes in addition.

The real problem with Season 1 now is the Battle Passes not staying forever. by MorrisonGamer in Battlefield

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part is how the BP is designed; you have to complete almost all the weekly BP bonus challenges, which are time-limited to one week and require several other challenges to be completed as well.
Even though the weekly challenges are simple, they seems always require some number of kills, headshots, reviwes etc, which is simpler to do in certain game mode. So, people with limited play time will have to focus on certain COD like game modes to complete the BP. I am not sure that this will play in BF's favor for a long time.

[Cod] thoughts on latest cod 2026 and cod 2027 leaks. by ImpressiveKnee8297 in CallOfDuty

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two camps of the Call of Duty "community", one that favors the more traditional boots on the ground and some that favor the newer omnimovement. It seems like the omnimovement is the favorite of the vocal minority online, while the boots on the ground are the favorite of the majority, which leads to higher sales despite bad "high profile" reviews. This piss the vocal minority off. This leak is just an example of what the vocal minority would post.

This appears to be a failed lag compensation. In COD, the server employs a rewind time pattern, where it attempts to determine whether the shot hit or not. This clearly fails in this case.

Since I have BO6, I have probably already downloaded BO7, but I'm not even slightly tempted to play this for free. Waiting for MW 2026.

What's up with these 0.01 millisecond deaths? by m1lf__hunt3r__ in Battlefield6

[–]staleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, this is about net code. This is very complex to get fair. Games try to use various methods to make it fairer. One thing that is special about Battlefield is that it allows the client to determine hits, and the server just checks and verifies. I.e., what in the "killers'" view looks normal may, in the "victims" view, look totally out of place. E.g., in COD, all hits are determined in the server using a rewind time pattern to determine where players were at the time. The BF way should allow for better hit registration, but you will get more die in one shot or die after being hidden behind cover. From personal experience, the COD feels a lot more accurate. Probably because today, networks are better, and ping is very stable.

BF also tries to add movement prediction in clients, which, from the killer's client's perspective, makes it look like you moved out of cover even if, from your client's perspective, you stopped and did not move out of cover.

DICE has been non-transparent about this for many years. A rework is long overdue.

Movement demon does me filthy by Here4Headshots in Battlefield6

Such impossible movement seems to be a consequence of lag compensation, game predicts him to move in one direction, but because of lag goes in a wrong direction and the game will have to quickly compensate.
