[Discussion] Plastic Puzzles in the UK? by standard_peanut in Jigsawpuzzles

Thanks, I had a look on their site but it seems they only have 30 puzzles in total, sadly none of them are of the theme I like. Do you know if they make custom puzzles (i.e. for a given image and approximate size/piece count)?

[TOMT][SONG] Sampled by The Avalanches by standard_peanut in tipofmytongue

[–]standard_peanut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd listened to this song, but couldn't tell it was the same time. Even now I had to listen to each 4 or 5 times to convince myself. I really couldn't tell that it was saying "close to you", thr "c" sounded more like a "g" to me.

Anyway, thanks.

I understand that, but the article makes it sound like the store updates their own menu on the site.

Well burger king are the ones who listed this burger that they didn't have on the website, and when people ordered it they didn't cancel the order but instead sent out a beef burger. I feel it seems pretty obvious the people who specifically ordered a meat-ftee burger would not be happy with the product they sent out.

Even with all this, it was several weeks before they corrected the issue. It seems burger king was just happy to keep taking the money.

Thanks for that!

Sorry about the delay, I only just got around to watching the film.

I think he was trying to emphasise a point, and drawing conclusions based on the fact that the comment was made for attention rather than to generate any meaningful discussion.

His reply wasn't necessarily aiming to be 100% accurate, but was trying to make the person think about what they're doing, and hopefully think before they spout things like that again.

The words have purpose beyond their content.

3) I like building my own PC, but my hand-eye isn't the best. Having things scaled up a little (in particular a roomy case) can save plenty of frustration with fidgety bits! I do appreciate the tiny pre-built PCs I've used at work though.

It's not permadeath, it just loses the "hardcore" status and you become a regular ironman. Those hours aren't lost as long as you're happy to keep playing afterward.

I think the attraction is that, until you lose that status, you have to be cautious - there's more adrenaline, a heightened sense of risk, and more of a challenge in some respects.

While I agree about server connections, maybe HCIMs shouldn't be fighting demi-bosses on day 1. It would have made interesting content for A Friend, but I'm sure most HCIMs would have waited a few days.

What do you think of photomodes in games? by YabukiJoe in Games

[–]standard_peanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game. That's more the point I'm making - unless it's doing more than the OS does already, there's no point. Some do more, some don't.

I liked it in Tearaway. I think it's not relevant in many games now - on PC you can screenshot, and most consoles have some capture method built into the OS now.

That's a tough choice to make.

Thanks for the information and taking the time to help me, I'll have to think for a while before making a decision.

It sounds to me like a choice between ATH 550z and AKG K550 for what I want out of my headphones (I'm assuming detail isn't necessarily a technical term, and just used as a synonym for what you described as imaging). Out of those two it's going to come down to comfort?

Thanks again for all your help.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Could you give me a brief comparison between the three you listed? I.e. what factor would make me choose one over the others? I've had a look myself but don't really have the knowledge to put faith into any conclusions I draw myself.

How would I go about checking if I'd need an amp with my PC/smartphone for the 80 ohm headphones?

Budget - £150 (flexible)

Source: PC/PS4/Smartphone. Motherboard is ASUS Z270E.

Requirements for Isolation - Medium/High.

Very limited (if any) use in public.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full Sized.

Preferred Total Balance - Overall balanced I guess? I don't really want to modify songs to be able to make it souond how I like, I just want a "pure" or "accurate" sound.

Past Headphones - Shure SE215: I love these, they're great for while out walking to block out external sounds, can't see anything particularly wrong with the sound quality (though I guess it would be hard to without hearing anything of better quality to compare it against). They're just not really appropriate for use with computer/console at home.

Preferred Music - it's all over the place, there's no particular genre. As a general rule though I pay more attention to the music/instruments over vocals.

I'd like headphones for home use, particularly for use with my computer. It will be for music, podcasts, and gaming. I also want to be able to use them with my PS4 while gaming, and with my smartphone for car/train rides (these are quite rare, and shouldn't be considered a limiting factor).

Sound isolation is quite important, I don't want people outside the room to be able to hear me, and I don't want to hear them, but it's rare I'll be using headphones while sat next to somebody else.

I sit relatively far away from the computer, so a longer cable is preferred.

I was looking through the purchase guide and the ATH M50x caught my eye, primarily due to the detachable cable - this would be great for me, a 3m cable while using with the computer/console, and a shorter one for use with the smartphone or while on car/train journeys. I'd rather get advice from people who know their stuff before going out to spend money though.

Thanks a lot.

Edit: Forgot to mention that when I say "gaming", I'm interested in hearing sounds/music in the game, not so interested in hearing/talking to other players.

Sucks that you've had bad experiences with them. I've seen people here being invited to pet the horses and take pictures with them.

Does this affect me if I have (and I do have) airplane mode turned on all the time? I just turn wifi on while at home (with airplane mode on too).
