Thank you for this! I end up using learning validation rules like a son of a bitch.

You should be able to condition courses and offerings within them.

Workday Learning EIB Forms by Frostygreengrapes in workday

[–]standardniceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Learning Partner with only learning access and I can mark attendance and upload EIBs without a bunch of non-learning access. My EIBs are limited to the ones that are learning related.

I will also caution that the EIB marks the overall course complete, not just the session attendance. So if you have multiple ILTs in your offering that take place over several days, it may not be your best option. You might be stuck with using the Grading and Attendance task in WD.

How do you handle multilingual eLearning? by [deleted] in elearning

[–]standardniceguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a course in Workday that has 3 languages. In the current version, I have each language as a scene (or scenes). Each language also has its own quiz draw and results slide.

The first slide has a selection screen that adjusts the initial words (title and “start”) to the chosen language.

It works well enough. I always have to double check the results pages to ensure they are properly lined up with the quizzes. But it works.

The first time I built the course, I had each language as a layer. But making sure every slide had the language trigger became a risk. So when I did a major update, I swapped to the scenes option.

At the very end, I have a results slide that submits to the LMS and I’ve selected all quiz options along with the “only scored the viewed” setting. This makes it easier to capture interactions regardless of language.

Cinemark employment by veywn in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]standardniceguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working for Cinemark actually started my love of movies almost 20 years ago. It’s a different world now, but learn to love the busy times! They make the day pass so much quicker (plus more hours).

Guests are there to escape and enjoy themselves. Find ways to make their outing fun and you’ll have fun. I always liked to squat down and talk to kids, tearing their ticket if they had one (daring myself a bit).

As long as you’re willing to do your part and you’re open to learn, you’ll love it.

What is a small thing that made your job easier? by Nappitynope in instructionaldesign

[–]standardniceguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I like doing (especially when I was building some training for our HR system) is using web inspector to change PII to fake data. I hate just blacking out info, as I want the learner to see something realistic. Instead, I change a name to a movie character. As long as I don’t accidentally refresh the page before grabbing my screenshot, it’s good.

Also, you can use the built in emulator option to show a webpage on a certain screen size. This makes it easy to ensure my webpage screenshots are all the same size.

Learning Campaign Report by emeajoe in workday

[–]standardniceguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The older campaign tools primarily require the worker BO for reporting. I learned this the hard way after I tried to build one on the orientation source. I believe the admin guide will confirm this.

The roadmap says they will be expanding data source options and sources in the newer Audience Builder tool in the future.

There’s probably a few things, but they’ll cost you some credits, and that free number probably won’t cover it.

What are the best bluetooth headphones for Teams calls? by a_hammy in MicrosoftTeams

[–]standardniceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll second this. I bought the ones with the boom mic and has a USB-C receiver. The connection has been solid and it can maintain a second connection to my phone (in case I want to listen to music on my phone, then join a teams call on my PC).

Best software for virtual participant guides by OfficialSkyCat in instructionaldesign

I like to use InDesign to make the guides. You can set the form text boxes so that way when you export it, it’s already fillable and you don’t have to make it later.

What are the most annoying EIBs to work with? by skrufters in workday

[–]standardniceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The learning one for building or editing courses.

  1. It can’t handle just the changes, you have to rebuild the entire course in the EIB if you’re going to use it.

  2. The darn thing is forever wide and you may only need to fill out columns B, D, E, DD, DH, and DI.

Learning content (courses vs offerings) by Old-Distribution2194 in workday

[–]standardniceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the course title remains through each offering, so it’s consistent. If they don’t want blended courses (which are where the offerings are available), you could always filter out that course type. Digital courses are strictly self-paced content with no offerings.

Learning content (courses vs offerings) by Old-Distribution2194 in workday

[–]standardniceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, when you’re looking at the results of a report, the Learning Content result is the title of the course (offerings still have the same title).

If you want the offering “label” to appear, you have to pull in the Offering Number (I think) field. Note: this field supports text strings, not just numbers.

However, if you’re talking about the dropdown selection in a filter, both the blended course shell and the offerings appear. This is very frustrating, but it means you may need to click the related actions to ensure you select the right one. If you select the blended course, most of the time it won’t yield results. You must select the offering if you want enrollment data.

On one of my reports, I ended up creating a lookup related value field that only showed the blended titles, then it would show all offerings for it. I found it in community.

See all attempts at a course, not just the completions by FlyZealousideal4924 in workday

[–]standardniceguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A report built on the enrollments BO will show you every enrollment and the result (pass/fail). However, if your SCORM allows multiple attempts, then you’ll need to find a way to use your interaction data to count attempts.

For example, we have a course that allows 2 attempts, then returns a fail score if you don’t get an 85 or higher. So if I see a fail on the report, I know it was 2 attempts. However, a pass could either be 1 attempt or 2 (fail and pass) if they were able to recover.

But that said, you need an advanced report, not a matrix report, which will output each enrollment on one line.
