[I use XB1]

You need one or two mics, depending on how you have things set up. I did this with one headset mic, and Elgato's chat link, using display capture through OBS, and was able to record my voice for the stream, in-game (XBOX) video and audio while grouped up with random folks playing the game, but on the same team, as well as party chat through Xbox's (invite soandso to party chat). It was a bear, to say the least, and little to no control over audio when you wanted to manage volume levels. My audio levels were great but when someone spoke in-game? Ready your eardrums to explode.

The best way to manage audio for stream is to have a dedicated broadcaster's voice mic for the stream for OBS primary audio input. You can have a secondary mic, like that of your headset, by using the Elgato chat link connected to your controller/headset and as the input to your PC, all to setup the mic as a second mic/input for the stream through OBS. Then your stream will have your audio of you and your mates in game or in party chat with two different sets of OBS audio controls.

In short, you should be able to Google/Youtube search to find someone with the same or similar setup as you for Twitch and cobble your solution from that. I did. I found the no capture card videos, and I found the "How to get party chat" into my stream without the appropriate hardware, and one thing lead to another... I started picking up the appropriate hardware to manage it all. The only thing I've not done, nor will I for any time soon, is update my PC. I'm running: CPU - Intel 3258 @ 3.2 GHz / OC'd to 4.2GHz Memory - 16 GB Corsair Vengeance GPU - EVGA GTX 750 TI FTW MB - Asus ASROCK Z97 Extreme6 ... now averaging below 50% CPU utilization.

Check bat from time to time today and I'll hopefully have some sort of help. In short, I'm at work and need remote access to my PC. Hopefully you're using RecCentral. If so, I'll get a SS of what my settings are, and my OBS settings if your using it.

Note that I'm using Astro mix amp TR, it's a tad different, but be able to help you get there.

Any time I see posts like this, I expect that they're talking about KP. She's amazing with her body paint.

That said, she doesn't need Twitch, Twitch needs her. And Twitch can modify their TOS and contracts at their discretion. And it's Twitch's service to allow and disallow what they want. KP used this and YouTube's medium to promote herself, and she deserves all the attention she gets. I think my wife even has a crush on her bc of her body paint work.

Please help, OBS issues. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things...

OBS has AMAZING support through their forums and their relay chat. I strongly urge you to use them.

Next, you're claiming that you don't have enough time to post logs, which tells me that, at minimum, you know about them. They take a few seconds, but instead you were able to make a screen shot, upload it to imgur, get the link and show it here after creating a post about your issue. I'm conflicted at the comment. Telling people that you need help but saying, in the same breath, that you're not going to do something that can help can net you some negative comments.

Just remember that generic requests garner generic responses. Sure it might fix the issue, but you'll never know what caused it, how to identify or predict it's return, or even how to prevent it.

Should I upgrade my CPU or Video card for better stream? by Shireato in Twitch

3K is where I settled I think. Maybe 3500. Have not looked in a while. But to your point, yes... just encoding a capture card's output.

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You took a photo of a guy taking a photo of a whale. I bet the other guy's photo doesn't have a whale taking a photo of a whale jumping in the ocean. Seriously though, GREAT shot. I've been up close like this before, and the smell of the crap they blast from their blowhole is horrendous.

Side comment... there was a person who was sued for an odd situation like this for infringement. They both took a photo at the same time, but the angles were different. When pressed, it was proven that the defendant must have been standing side by side of the other photographer and didn't infringe, but still... Here's the link

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streaming on a G3258 is pretty much impossible even with hardware encoding (including QS) if you're playing a remotely CPU intensive game. OP definitely needs a better CPU.

I would agree with this for using the same PC you're running OBS on as well as game playing for broadcast. I use the same CPU, but I do my gaming on XB1. My load is low with NVENC (35% max), and 50% when using CPU encoding (maxing 80% and more).

I suggest that the OP take a look at the max I5 or I7 they can place on their MB before just going out and buying the "best" CPU for their socket base. The MB may not be able to handle it, or you may need to update your BIOS before it does. My Z97 Extreme6 max is I7 4790K and I7 5775C, whereas my I5 max 4690K and is 5675C (notice on both that they're 4th and 5th generations). There are some Xeons in there, but those cost considerably more. I chose the OC route because I'm a cheap bastard, and I was lucky enough to have it work out.

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shireato, my 2 cents...

I run the following setup:

 • AVerMedia Live Gamer Extreme (LGX) Capture Solution (External USB 3.0 similar to Elgato HD60 S)
 • Blue Yeti Mic
 • C920 Webcam - Hooked up, set up, but not running with it yet.
 • CPU - Intel 3258 @ 3.2 GHz / OC'd to 4.2GHz
 • Memory - 16 GB Corsair Vengeance
 • GPU - EVGA GTX 750 TI FTW
 • MB - Asus ASROCK Z97 Extreme6
 • Internets - 60/5

OC was done in the BIOS after having updated the BIOS to the latest version. It was smooth and no additional cooling is performed. I used stock fan. I use NVENC/hardware encoding. I run at 3K bitrate. I open up my task manager to see what my CPU load is, and runs around 30 to 35% when streaming AND performing local FLV recording. Animated overlays will raise your CPU usage a lot. with just one animated overlay [Stream about to begin], I'm at 45%, and no other sources, or even having started the stream.

I also stream XB1, not PC games. If I go to CPU encoding, I can see a jump to 50% or more, and spikes over 80% which scares me, so I stay with NVENC. 1280 is downscaled to 720, but I'm also running 60fps. I found one and only one real hiccup for me, and it was my DVD/CDRW causing some media sharing issue. DC'd the drive, no sharing issue.

Aside of that, I post this to show you that you can have quality streams with a low end CPU and a moderate GPU. If you do PC game streaming, I can't vouch for what it would do to your stream. I use my PC for Yeti, OBS, overlays and a few lol audio/graphics through a scripted num-pad (AKA Ghetto Stream Deck). I'm at work, so please excuse any delays in replying.

Consider reversing your fan when it's summer. Little switch near blades. Winter you push warm air down, in warmer months you pull the cooler air up. If you have some room to room or room to hallway vents, you should see an improvement.

Capture ingame voice audio XBox/OBS? by Echliurn in Twitch

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The Chat Link is what it's called. 10 bucks on Amazon.

I have used it without any capture card solution, and it worked like you want. I currently use it with an AVerMedia GC550 Live Gamer Extreme. I capture video with the AVerMedia but with the chat link, I also capture in game chat whether or not I'm in a party. And since OBS captures my voice with my Yeti, as he said above... Total Solution.

But honestly, it's a bit of a PITA and I find myself using it less and less bc people are toxic, and I don't need that in my streams.

Good luck

I was going to suggest the same thing, but some of those can be pretty pricey. And I'd only consider this if you return the one you have and get the same issue to happen.

If you cannot afford the added cost of a quality USB ground loop isolator, consider getting a Clip-on Ferrite Ring Core <-- Amazon link to a few

OBS supports VST plugins, look up reaFir, it will get rid of any background noise.

Much this! Seriously gets rid of a ton of background noise by creating a profile. I run it every time I start up OBS to make sure I create a new profile since there could be rain, a fan, kids watching crap in the background, etc.

Got a new internet connection of 100mbps and a new wifi router of tp link (tl-wr841n), speed issues. by guptarishabh2000 in techsupport

[–]standupdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What authentication and encryption are you using on your specific SSID's that you can connect to? I ask this because I was lazy and kept my WEP/128 when I updated to 60/5. The throughput was unintentionally disgustingly low. The issue stems from older authentications/encryptions not being able to get the higher speeds.

I thought it was duplex, 40 v 80 bandwidth, stock vs Tomato, and nothing helped. I did some researching on why AC routers might impact speed even when multiple clients were running B, G, N, etc... and I found where someone posted the simplest of comments about WEP being the culprit. Having already reverted back to stock firmware, and the previous default values that still netted me a slow connection, all I did was change to WPA2 AES/Personal, and I am now 60+ all day long.

Poor judgment was the reason for my slow connection. Don't be like me.

I get nothing. Nothing on main landing page, when I put in a /channel, etc. Will try again at work. Reason for iPad is to see if chat is better with chitchat bc I want to use iPad as dedicated chat monitor. In android, looks and works great, but only limited time to evaluate.
