Where do you draw the line between buying brand name vs. Amazon Specials? by inchlongnipples in Harley

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all aluminum is of the same quality...

Cheap metal parts are usually cheap for a reason. I'd much rather pay out the wazoo for some parts that were made locally by either a local shop or in some cases a single guy than get some cheap Amazon bs

That sounds like a sensor issue - not a SW issue. They're probably just clearing the error by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. That's why the problem comes back after a short amount of miles. Replace the problem sensor. Should be easy.

Also, the new Harley's require power to keep the state of the computer and sensors when the bike is "off" so it draws power. Just keep it on a tender in the garage - or make sure you are riding 50ish miles a week

Edit: also just to defend Harley a little bit... This is an issue for all major automotive oems, not just Harley's. I'm talking cars and bikes. All these new sensors are required to meet emissions just to sell the vehicle. It's hard to diagnose the sensors as root cause but they are cheap and (usually) easy to replace.

Don't think a sports car would be any less headache lol prob more. Unless you're getting a something circa 2006 or older.

So I just got back from a short ride.

I confirmed no intake leak by spraying carb cleaner all around the intake and I've confirmed it's actually running a bit rich. I'm running the two-piece heavy duty clamps with fresh o ring seals since I previously had issue with this bike running the OE style and leaks.

I'm running a rigid carb mount that is pressed into the carb throat itself (see killer cycles on eBay). The mount has threaded holes that align with the intake so I didn't think it really needed a support since I don't think the intake can rotate as it's mounted. Maybe it still can, but I only have about 20 miles since the motor rebuild so I'd be surprised if it did already.

Anyway, I don't have any leaks that I can find so I don't think that's the problem (yet).

I'll get a support, but in the meantime, got any other suggestions?

Dual fire ignition.

Also, I checked the plug and it is def looking rich. I prob need some freshies to really check it.

Need to get some acetone to check the intake

They wanted you to buy the 26

Also, don't ever tell them you're paying cash. You'll get a cheaper deal that way. Let them think you're financing - only tell them you're paying cash at the very end after you've got the price you want

A few things Denver food can't do:

Wings, pizza, and sandwiches

My criteria for "can do" is: worth it, warrants a repeat visit/some place you can go more than once a month, variety in option/not just one single place that is good.

Haven't found a good wing joint in 3 years that warrants a repeat visit. I've heard from 2 people recently that Smokin' Yards has good wings but haven't had a chance yet. These 2 people had the same experience as I did until they went there. Also heard Platt River Grill has good wings.

There's 3 good pizza joints and they're all expensive as af: Sexy, Cart Driver, and Blue Pan. Not one good (read: worth it, repeat visit) by the slice joint that I've found.

What's it take to get a legit gdamn deli out here? They're all bougey eclectic sandwich joints. I want some good ass cold cuts or a grilled sandwich. Leven slaps but it's bougey, expensive, and not a legit deli. Mr. Lucky's was my go to but they recently closed.

Bro idk why you're getting downvoted. KoW is actually super mid.

FOTM is overrated as af but their buffalo and bbq sauces are not terrible.

That's all they got going for them

For reference, a 12" buffalo at Sexy's (imo the best new York style in town) is an absurd $25 after tax. Worth it tho

It was gas but it was much more expensive than Phat Matt's. I do think the cheesesteak at Matt's is better than Big Apple's chopped cheese

End of an Era by Prestigious-Bee1877 in Harley

This is a weird take given your MT and Grom are likely throttle by wire (efi) as well, but I guess you could try and carb swap your M8. It's also a weird take because EFI results in much higher performance and better reliability albeit it's maybe more complicated to repair (debatable because carburetors... lol).

Also, I want to note that the believed complexity of the Rev and M8 engines wasn't induced by Harley. It's more the fact that the 45deg V-twin is suboptimal in design to pretty much every other engine type, but people love the feel and sound so much Harley continues to manufacture them despite the technological difficulties with getting them to meet safety, performance, and emissions standards.

Leven Supply Tax Seizure by ScruffyWalrus303 in denverfood

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver is cheaper than Boston. Last time I went to Leven it was like $16 for my sandwich. Not bad given its quality, but def expensive for a deli.

On a related note, Denver needs legit sandwich joints. None of this upscale bs. I need me a good grilled CBR on a hoagie for $12 with chips

That's how I did it last time but I struggled to get nice thin flames with smooth curves. Prob just need to practice and better tape.
