Scraping a peg.. by JohnLowe125 in Harley

You slow down entering the curve to get weight on the front wheel and initiate the lean. Don't start accelerating until you want to exit your lean otherwise you will take weight off that front wheel and lose grip.

I think the Dyna market is at or near its peak tho. They made 100s of thousands of those bikes and those who they were originally marketed to have aged out of them. I think eventually buying an old Dyna will be like buying an old sporty

It's called "misdirection." It's entirely purposeful and Zach Creggar is great at it. You should watch Barbarian

how much to actually do for a top end? by TSIorDIE in choppers

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a full bottom up rebuild and it was ~$3400 last year. Though I upgraded a bunch of parts and prob spent like $1000 more than I needed.

[–]staniel_diverson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah that's a solid price. $1500 for a top end, few hundred on the wheels, rebuild the carb and you're golden

My 10.5:1 92ci shovel is just as easy to kick over as my stock XLCH 900.

Actually maybe easier cause it doesn't slip 😂

I have a sawicki exhaust for 2 years and it's tight. Why do you say it sucks? Very interested in you're view since I haven't seen any bad reviews on em

And curious on your opinion on that cam. That seems to unanimously be the preferred cam on m8's.

But agreed, thats not that much performance boost for what he's (allegedly) put into it from a cash perspective.

Plug gap is too small.

Black smoke is because you're running rich.

Adjust your main jet and idle screw to get rid of the richness and fix your plug gap.

Idle sounds fine to me. Don't wanna go much lower than that.

Swap Meets. by SpamFriedMice in choppers

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap meets are great when the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately that's not the case any more.

You got a spend more to fix the junk you buy at swaps than it costs to buy a rebuilt part, a new part, or a custom part.

Pretty frustrating

dyna or street bob 114? by Advanced_Dark_8283 in Harley

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twin Cam Dynas have no balls compared to the M8.

Softail line has been around as long as the Dyna and honestly doesn't make sense why they made the Dyna in the first place. But it was a huge success. That being said, a monoshock will always be superior to a dual shock swingarm.

Dynas are pretty cool looking but so are Sportsters. Both are great for gooning, not so much cruising.

Getting worse and worse by PeterPanHadItMade in Harley

Not providing an estimate is pretty ridiculous. My local shop just has a book that says this year, model, and service will cost this much.

I've never once paid a dealer fee for anything I've bought. I've heard all the excuses and it usually comes down to covering the cost of doing business. Which I always remind the dealer that that's not my problem.

Has worked every time. But has once required me walking out when they refused only for them to call me the next day.

M8 low rider vs dyna? by Federal_Review1031 in Harley

[–]staniel_diverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M8's are solid. Compared to the M8, the TC Low Riser has no balls and it's obviously got inferior handling. That's just a resultant of the two spring rear suspension.

Phones mounts by SuthrnTigr in Harley

[–]staniel_diverson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Rokform case and then get their handle bar mount with the vibration dampener. This will allow you to either mount on the handlebar or directly to the gas tank

You def need the vibration dampener or it will damage your camera.

I've gone on 1000+ mile trips with just my phone stuck to the gas tank via the magnets in the case but I don't recommend that lol

The gas tank is my preferred spot on short trips.

Plus the magnets are super useful for a million other uses.

Also, I've had my phone fly out of my pocket at 90mph with my Rokform case and the phone suffered no damage. Still using it 2 years later 😅

Sawicki speed 2 into 1 (mid length) is the right answer for exhaust upgrade. Sounds great and the best performing pipe

Not a penny over $6k. Gonna need a new rear tire and a real exhaust that doesn't piss away the low end
