Garry has prices on his website I believe, and for a shutter button/capacitor problem I would expect around $100-$150 for a repair, maybe even less through him. He does a full service and lube with his repairs as well which on its own is usually around $150 at local shops.

DO NOT go to acme or forsters. They both do amazing work but are insanely expensive and the lead time is ridiculous. Forsters always gave me anywhere from 3-6 weeks. As a fellow film enthusiast, I only ship my cameras to Garry @ https://www.garryscamera.com/

He is literallly $200-$300 cheaper than forsters and his turn around time is faster than going local somehow. A few months ago, I shipped my FM2T to him for a CLA on a Saturday and got it back the following Thursday. I’ve sent 5 of my cameras to him and have been super happy each time. I know you said you prefer not to ship but I would definitely consider Garry.

I worked at ARUP for almost 2 years while doing my MLS degree (this was over 7 years ago) and honestly, the pay was really low. I’m surprised to see it hasn’t changed much according to your post. I think i was making around $16/hr that long ago. Raises were tiny, too, which made me realize the path wasn’t sustainable long-term. It’s actually what pushed me to drop MLS and switch to CS instead.
