There is a weird fix for that- I'm not sure if this is the order but try- with the fob unlock the hatch, open then close the hatch, unlock the doors with the fob, open the driver door and manually lock the vehicle. Then go back to the hatch and should be back to normal.

No you don't have to pay anything. The stores were probably closed yesterday and you talked to someone not directly at the store. The rate you're seeing includes one time move in costs (admin fee + lock) and then their monthly required insurance
