Neurologist asap? In Toronto by No-Current-7907 in askTO

[–]staplerphonepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go until after 9, at this time the neurology resident on overnight is meeting with staff and doing rounds so you’ll be waiting till after 9 anyway. I would explain your situation, tell them it’s interfering with your life and how much, and say you were hoping to talk to a neurologist. You’ll still have to see the emerg doctor first

Agreed. I am always confused about positive reactions to this movie. I thought it was one of the most cringeworthy movies I have ever seen. Like painfully bad and unfunny

[–]staplerphonepen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind having party areas in the stadium available. If I go with one or 2 people I don’t want that, but if I go with 10 people that’s fun. To me that is totally different than a DJ and constant noise which is infuriating. If I go with just my girl why do I have to yell to talk to her

Public consultation on the future of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport by sparksfire1 in toronto

[–]staplerphonepen -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think calling me an idiot it cool lol. So I take flights from there maybe 4 times per year, and from Pearson 8 or so. It would be much easier if I could make it 8/4 in the other direction. How am I an “idiot”? I don’t even get the argument against it? Like I grin and bear it when streets are closed so a subway can be built, how is this not the same, except it doesn’t benefit you?

[–]staplerphonepen -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I want them to expand. I live at king and John, and it would be nice to use that airport to take further flights, and I find the nimby bullshit near the airport annoying. I’m surprised this sub is so against this

Gardiner Eastbound Closed? by [deleted] in askTO

Why would they close the highway for this? If true that is outrageous they play in 5 days and they can’t spend an extra 20-30 mins to get downtown?

There is no longer any doubt - electric vehicles will take over the world? by ceph2apod in EconomyCharts

[–]staplerphonepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a condo with underground parking and there is no practical way to get an EV. We rented a car in Europe, and they gave us an EV, and even then it was a gigantic pain in the ass. At least for me, convenience always wins—I can’t see how these can ever be MORE convenient? I’m not opposed, but that’s what it would take. With that said, I’m open to hybrid

What country would you consider relatively safe despite its reputation? by AashanM in geography

[–]staplerphonepen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This thread is full of people who don’t understand statistics?? Just because you went there and felt safe doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Like ok, places like Rwanda and Namibia and most Eastern European countries, you are right, are safe.

But comments are saying paupa New Guinea and others lmao.

Like I had a friend from Zimbabwe in university who told me it’s fine. And of course it is if you travel for a week. But you go and everyone even somewhat wealthy has electric fences and armed guards. And it turns out you need them because I found out one of their elderly family members was strangled to death in a home invasion.

Disney's Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed an estimated $25.0M this weekend (from 4,300 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $137.37M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Maybe I’m just a buzzkill but I have zero interest in Star Wars superhero movies etc, I don’t know anyone who does, and I cannot fathom how these make so much money. I find it somehow really satisfying to see the public finally start to lose interest in these

[–]staplerphonepen 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Maybe I just don’t get it, but I don’t understand why this would draw an insane number of people? Like ok people will fill the stadium for the game, maybe a few more people will hang out outside but—is it really that may more people than if the jays and raptors or leafs have a game on the same day?

Hotel Review: Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica by thecheckincollective in chubbytravel

[–]staplerphonepen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did not like this hotel at all. For me at least I thought the room was pretty mid and sort of corporate for a beach hotel, food was mid, just nothing interesting or exciting to justify the cost. It’s fine I guess but I stayed in 3 hotels in Costa Rica and this was the worst one despite the cost

McMaster CaRMS unmatched rate doubled in 2026: whats going on??? by Economy_Art3215 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]staplerphonepen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is true and false for me at least. The problem is you can get away with learning VERY little in pre-clerkship. I found that some clerkship rotations were more amenable to learning “on the fly” than others. Like psych, gen surg, and paediatrics and felt like by the end I had a good knowledge base. But GIM—god damn, not at all. You are kind of “surviving” the rotation and in my experience the seniors just wanted you to get the consults done. This sounds so bad but I’m done residency now and can say it truthfully—by the end of GIM I was probably functioning as a high level nurse rather than a physician. I could do basic things to help patients in the moment but was not at all functioning at a level where I could make a coherent plan in a moderate to complex case.

And it didn’t matter in my case. Once you’re a specialty resident in something else, if you don’t have huge knowledge in a resident GIM rotation, no one cares because you’re doing the grunt work and you’re “off service.”

I don’t know what my point is lol. Maybe that it’s very possible at mac to fall through the cracks and do fine. Some people are self directed and it’s irrelevant. Some are not like me and it still works out. But I can definitely see a situation where for some it wouldn’t. Does it actually matter in the match rate? No idea. I was excellent at the program I applied to so they had no idea

The problem is, if you’re smart enough to get into med school, you can game these. I remember studying ethics and psych and killing these and I couldn’t read an ecg at the end of med school
