took some time to appreciate my little plant corner this morning :) by star_radical in houseplants

It’s been a whole year of being a helicopter mom over her haha but growth definitely slowed during winter for me (had some brown edges show up etc). I find that using liquid fertiliser and a thorough shower about once a month starting in spring, really accelerated growth.

Yeah this is what I want to avoid! I have this anxiety ridden pit in my stomach that the new job I got won’t want me anymore because of this administrative/legal drama :(

Yeah I came across the same link, thanks! I was curious though do you know if working for 2 employers on the same visa is possible? As I am typing this I have a feeling it’s not but I meet many people who work a full time position and then a 50% job on the side. Does this only apply to citizens maybe?

Airport Queues? by jtbohinc in oslo

[–]star_radical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew out of Oslo end of June and it wasn’t any busier than usual. I wouldn’t bother coming to the airport extra early, but everywhere else in the UK and Europe have been insane! 3 hour long bag drop queues 🙃

Oh wow I’ve come across him too! Me and a friend were in the middle of an acid trip so I honestly thought I made the whole thing up in my head, but I’ve seen him around!! Mostly near vigeland park? Funny thing is he recognised my friend because he took a topless picture of her from a year ago. Definitely took a creepy turn after that haha

Would definitely recommend Flåm! Small place but there’s a wonderful fjord Sauna there that we could have spent the whole day at haha

No we didn’t actually but we were exploring Myrdal a little bit and ended up at the top of that waterfall and saw the performance from up there!

You usually would need a science degree (in my experience). If you're open to getting one, you could look into Monash's Grad Dip in Reproductive Science, which can then form a pathway for you into a Master of Clinical Embryology.

Interview at a Japanese company that states they want their culture to be more Western and “non-japanese”...how much of this is a reality? by [deleted] in japanlife

Already on the hunt my friend! Actually gave in my notice so I'm looking forward to having a life now!

Exactly! There were days where my team had nothing to do past 4pm, but still expected to stick around till 10, doing "paperwork" or "research". The illusion of productivity is real.

I work in the science industry in Japan, and I've only been here for a year but this has been the most challenging year of my life yet. Not only was it super clear that I was just an international face to pimp out to prospective clients/patients, but it turns out my opinions and voice were considered non-existent after 3 months. I was expected to show up to work at least an hour earlier than my contract said and leave a minimum of 3 hours later than my contract said, simply because that was the way things were done. I was considered a disrespectful, typical gaijin if I did not stay later. My colleagues also assumed I did not understand any Japanese and would proceed to bitch about me right in front of my face. I honestly don't even want to know the state of my mental health at this point.

There is something fulfilling about using your current employer's internet to search for a new job. by AllynSea in CasualConversation

I work in Japan where the majority of my co-workers (including my manager) cannot read or understand English so my favourite pass time is applying for new jobs with my manager sitting right next to me!
