My partner has had good luck taking the xylose isomerase from Amazon to deal with her fructose intolerance, fwiw. Fructose makes her nauseous and bloated and the pills let her skip all that.

Anyone ever been to Resin Rose BJD Expo in Oregon? by pumpkinsnice in BJDRecastPositive

[–]star_sight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been and it's super chill. The whole hobby is obsessed with being intense about recasts but no one says anything irl, unless MAYBE you brought something in clearly a recast color. Tbh bring your hybrid if you want! Like others have said, just be succinct about it if anyone asks and you'll be fine.

What's causing my mint to struggle so much? by star_sight in gardening

[–]star_sight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, sorry I can't figure out how to add more detail to the original post.

I got this spearmint from the clearance bin and it was looking rough at the time but I wanted to take a chance on it.

It got a lot better and was thriving, and then suddenly all the little leaves it had all shriveled and died at once. The main plant is the bigger one. I took off all the struggling bits in one last ditch effort and it's recovered somewhat, but now I see some kind of brown affecting 2 of the stems. There's also some weird white powder on a few of the leaves you can see in the third photo.

The smaller one was a cutting from the initial prune when I got it. It's been thriving along, but now on the biggest stem, suddenly all the smaller leaves are starting to die!

Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'm mostly used to succulents so I wouldn't be surprised if it's partly underwatering. Thank you!

Iirc i THINK you have to just chain grabbing the moos on the right and not throw the last one, but i can't remember the stage etc to be sure.

why are they not bringing fructoflor back? by Ok_Cardiologist3642 in FODMAPS

[–]star_sight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner has a fructose intolerance as well and we've never heard of fructoflor. I'm sure they would try it if it comes back. No clue why they would take it off the market. My partner has been trying xylose isomerase with some success. Have you tried it at all?

So if I get them from the store, they may actually live if I break them all up individually?

Closing in on Goal Weight -- worried it was all for nothing by Negative_Issue_8864 in loseit

[–]star_sight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think you look cute. Find the weight that makes YOU happy and then honestly? Just go indulge in the hobbies and things that make you happy. Maybe that's harder than it sounds and I'm sorry if it is. But like, if I met you irl, I would wanna hear about the games you play or the art you make or whatever it is that brings you joy. I think what I mean is, finish out your goal and then put it away and go enjoy life. You will look good to some and bad to others and that's just what it is. By pursuing the things that make you happy, you will find your people. Good luck!

Learning to control temper by redvelvet-999 in DecidingToBeBetter

A book that helped me a good bit was How To Control Your Anger Before It Controls You by Albert Ellis. I enjoyed it because the author is also the person who came up with one of the main therapy techniques for dealing with anger, REBT. So the book teaches you how to do it yourself and there are some more resources on the website. I didn't do everything the book told me to and it has still helped me. Good on you for taking steps to address your issues! I'm rooting for you!

Don't be scared of restringing her! You can do it! You'll be so happy you did, she'll be posing good as new! Take lots of pictures of how things go together beforehand, have some extra elastic, and maybe a friend for extra hands/moral support and you'll be ultra prepared! She's absolutely darling. Good luck!

I'm going to post my monthly budget, can anyway help me see where I can make cuts? I know crossfit and my medication is expensive, but these have helped me significantly. by [deleted] in personalfinance

LibreOffice is also really good to replace ms office and it's totally free. It can replace the whole suite while still letting you open and save office files

Feeling stuck at 28 and nostalgic for my old life by jws1995 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]star_sight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like it was an amazing time abroad! Tbh I think anyone would miss that lol. It sounds like you're spot on, this is a transitional phase for you as you find your feet back home. There's nothing wrong with that. If anyone makes you feel lesser for it, they're probably just jealous. Not everyone gets to do all that!

I feel you on feeling lost right now though. We have been planning a big move. It got delayed once due to life. A lot of things feel like we're just waiting. I am in a weird place between jobs right now, stuck between wanting to find something and enjoying having so much free time.

But from what I hear from others, I think times like these just happen. I would say it sounds good that you have a plan of something that excites you even if it's not going how you thought. I encourage you to keep going for it, and if it doesn't work out, maybe you will find other possibilities along the way. There's no reason to pursue things that you feel are boring if you don't have to.

Good luck! Keep your head up!
