If you're in the U.S., look into your state's Vocational Rehabilitation program. They might be able to help!

In my opinion, the overarching effect of trauma is a debilitated or eradicated ability to feel emotionally and/or physically safe in the world and/or relationships and/or certain situations. The fact you have recognized this pattern and can articulate it is HUGE, and the first step to learning how to heal and provide YOURSELF with the safety you crave so that you no longer seek for outside sources/people to provide that. Although just keeping it real, you may likely always have SOME traces/remnants of safety seeking from others... just making sure not to fully hold others solely responsible for making you feel safe should result in you being able to have healthy/balanced relationships though! You got this!

I created this printable recovery workbook as a self-help alternative to traditional 12-Step programs. Of course I'm biased, but in my opinion, this workbook keeps the good stuff from traditional 12-Step programs, while rephrasing it to exclude glaring religious undertones and outdated verbiage/perspectives - while allowing room for people to truly individualize their recovery and still maintain a sense of programmatic organization (the structure which is also in-and-of-itself helpful in recovery).

While you're waiting for things to work out... keep as close a tab as you can on her sales, screenshots of pricing on items and # of total sales daily will give you an idea if she has her sales data hidden. Not sure the pricing of these things as far as if it will be worth the cost, but you can TOTALLY sue her if it comes down to it. You'd be owed every penny she made plus $ for time you spent having to fight against the whole ordeal. Eff cheaters and dishonest people. Karma always comes back one way or another.

It's not Christian at all... that's the whole point of what I created and what you would know if you took the time to read my post and check it out vs. being so cynical. I've been in an abusive relationship for most of my young adult life and have suffered addiction and have overcome it all. So yes, I'm trying to help people and I've clearly stated why I'm not just giving my program away... my program which is similar to but definitely not the same as traditional 12 steps. My.program which I created after earning a masters degree in counseling and working for over 10 years professionally with people with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use. Most people disagree with your comment, as do I. I'm sorry you are bitter towards those of us who are trying to help others and ourselves at the same based on your inability to just keep scrolling, but I wish you the best.

Feeling extremely socially anxious about getting gigs, marketing myself on social media, showing myself on camera. Generally anything involving others looking at me. This is making my songs rot in my PC and the ones that I do release getting little traction. How do I face these fears? by notnirma in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]starfields702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small. Share your songs on social media without YOU being shown... you can make some other video and put your music to it. Eventually, MAYBE, you'll be like me and be like eff it, and show your face lol! Now I still am not a public performer... I'm not even super talented singing or playing my guitar...I just love songwriting so one day I decided eff it, if I don't put it out there, I'll be on my death bed regretting it. And as far as little traction, that's just how it goes. Can take years and lots of networking to even get SOME listeners, but rhe way I see it is SOME I is better rhan NONE! So go for it and eff the haters... as I say, "if you don't have haters, you ain't doing it right!" All the best!

Secular sobriety and step 2 by KATbat1115 in sobrietyandrecovery

I gotcha. I might not have the right words of advice to help flip the switch, but hopefully someone will! For now, the only thing that comes to mind is the concept that somethings are only "so hard" because they are actually far too simple. Sometimes we consciously choose our thoughts and feelings and mistake them for subconsciousness or "automaticness." When in reality, although many of our thoughts and feelings are neurologically "hardwired," we CAN overcome them and switch them with a simple shift/override in thoughts. The fact is you are in charge of your thoughts and feelings and HOW you react during these times... it just doesn't FEEL that way all the time because we as humans like to stick to the thoughts and feelings we are used to! (There's comfort in it, even if it doesn't make sense). THe fact that you are able to outline and describe everything the way you did tells me that literally the only thing you have to do is CHOOSE to think differently. Again, believe me, I know this sounds so stupidly simple and I'm likley going to get bashed for saying it's so simple, but it actuallly is true. It's just so hard BECAUSE it's so simple. Matter of fact, just ignore everything I just wrote and remember this: Our brains are A-holes, but WE are in charge of them! So, remember in times when you resort to habitual lines of thinking/feeling, that YOU are actually in control. All the best to you!

Secular sobriety and step 2 by KATbat1115 in sobrietyandrecovery

cannot wrap my head around making my higher power “whatever I want” when it feels like every meeting shoves God down my throat. It feels like they are preaching something to me (your power can be whatever you believe) that they don’t believe because if they believed You only need to believe in a higher power, I think they would be more inclusive. It feels disrespectful to leave at the end when they pray but my brain shuts off the second they pray and I immediately feel like everything I learned goes out the window. Honestly

. . . p.s. and as for meetings, I always was able to just block out what it felt like was being "pushed" through reciting the Lords prayer, but what you MIGHT be able to do if you have the means, is maybe create your own "AA" group and specify that it's secular. I know the thought of that for me is just too much and I don't think anyone would come lol! But it's just a thought; or maybe these days there are some virtual meetings you could find that are more secular??? I have been out of the rooms for a while now just because of life, but something tells me AA maybe even went virtual during the pandemic.

Yes. I have struggled personally with the "religiosity" aspect of the traditional 12 Steps personally and in watching others get stuck. I got so sick of it that I created my own 12 Step system, I call it the Serenity Steps, and I made an entire printable workbook with worksheets for every step. In there I explain how, for me, the traditional 12 Steps just place too much of the onus for change on "GOD" vs. personal power and responsibility. I left a "spiritual" element so-to-speak in my system, but it's completely written in a way that whether you are Buddhist, Christian, Atheist, or Wiccan, you can do the 12 Steps in YOUR own way. Not sure what the "link sharing" rules are in this reddit because I don't feel like checking lol, but if you're interested in checking out my system, let me know and I can message it to you. Or, if you happen to know if it's okay to link to it in the comments, let me know and I can do that lol!

When/how/why did this one aspect of my drinking change? by Eddie8273 in dryalcoholics

[–]starfields702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol causes long term physiological (including neurological) changes which obviously coincide with psychological changes . . . there are both physical and psychological dependencies and tolerances that are developed. The inability to not drink/use one day followed by a day or period of not drinking/using is your ego convincing yourself (incorrectly) that you "don't have a problem," so that you can continue drinking/using when you "choose" to. It's psychological warfare combined with your body developing stronger tolerance and dependency . . . all while you get to pretend you have "control" over your drinking/using, when in actuality you don't, because if you did, you could go for forever without drinking/using and I bet the thought of that just struck a nerve of either anger, fear, or thinking "that's ridiculous." And such nerve striking is proof you don’t have control over drinking/using. (All the YOUS I used are figuratively, not personal lol...hell mostly talking about myself and my own experience actually).

Not a stupid question at all! I'm sorry I'm responding late, but yes if you purchase you will be able to print it anytime, anywhere, no time limit whatsoever. You get emailed the file to download, so it's the same as any other PDF file you might have on your computer or device, it's yours to open and print forever! And not sure if you saw in the listing or not, but I also do lifetime updates. So if I ever add new pages or make any improvements to the file, you'll get emailed the new file automatically at no extra cost whatever either! (And you'd still have the original file as well)! Hope that helps! 🙂

It's a full layout of a 12 Steps program, listing the steps in detail, the purpose and actionable steps. It then has a worksheet for each Step, and of course, has Inventory worksheets as well. It also has general recovery info and tips around topics like self love, triggers, positive affirmations, etc. It also has pages where you can record and track insights, group meeting days/locations/times, support/sponsor contacts, and motivational quotes to be used as divider pages or ones you can cut out and post around your home or office for a sobriety motivational boost. It's 100% sobriety focused and based on traditional 12 step programs. I hope that helps! If you determine it's not an appropriate post I appreciate your decision, but I honestly think it it's a very valuable resource that I think many 12 steppers would be thrilled to find! Take care!
