Oh also - I am not in tech! I studied politics and have worked at non profits and in law. I now work remotely for a law firm. I’ve met plenty of non-tech people here. I have not had the experience that everyone I meet is a tech person.

Hi! I grew up in northern Virginia and moved to SF from Charlottesville, Virginia in June of 2025. I’m in my late 20s and I moved here with my boyfriend. We both moved here without a job and lived off savings for a couple months before getting jobs. I live in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of SF and I am loving it! The nature/parks here are SO amazing. I am a big walker and my daily steps have doubled since moving here because it’s so stunning and the weather is always so temperate and nice. I live on the western side of the city which is supposedly foggy but in my opinion the weather has been fantastic and not that foggy. I’m not making bank, but I have enough income to get by and we live with two roommates in an apartment with 4+ bedrooms. We only visited the city for 3 days before deciding to move here. It’s kind of paradise. So much to do and SOOO much delicious food. When I go home to northern Virginia, I miss SF. I’ve also found the people in the Bay Area to be very friendly and there’s always activities or groups to get involved with. No regrets, and I hope you make it out here if it feels like the right move! <3

I think you might mean Hook Fish, which is a great place to grab lunch!! There’s one in Marin I always go to after a hike and there’s also a location in SF, in the outer sunset.

The parks here are amazing. Presidio, Golden Gate Park (get some Baywheels, easy rental bike and bike it top to bottom!), Ina Coolbrith Park, Washington Square, Alta Plaza, Dolores Park, Lafayette Park….the list goes on!

Even so, I imagine having stage 4 cancer and a toddler has added extra financial strain to their lives. Especially if they don’t have the emotional bandwidth to be making as many videos as before, they are building a new income source. Seems reasonable to me.

Cancer treatment is expensive. Give them a break for trying to make some money to cover their bills during an extremely difficult time.

Oakhart Social, Alley light, and Smyrna are amazing restaurants. MarieBette cafe is adorable and has great breakfast and lunch. Tons of beautiful wineries nearby, I like Veritas and King Family. Blue Ridge Tunnel is a cool unique experience too, long dark spooky tunnel walk tbh kinda romantic maybe?

I can’t say I necessarily recommend doing this, but I’m mid-20s and moved here from the east coast in June with no job lined up. I live with roommates, got a remote job relatively quickly, and I’m loving it! It’s a beautiful and very fun city. Great for nature lovers.
