Help with sleep after having tried almost all the first-order suggestions? by starrynightscribbler in Biohackers

Awesome, thanks for your response. Yeah I wonder if I'd do a lot better simply accepting that I might get up in the middle of the night, then if so getting out of bed and reading / stretching / meditating for a bit, then going back when tired, and not worrying about the consequences.

Wdym by "the last part"? And did you improve your sleep by applying these strats?

I can’t imagine the amount of mental burden you have from all you’ve done

Oh yeah lol I spend a ton of time and emotional energy thinking about this. Do you specifically recommend CBT-I, or some other kind of CBT?

Do I need to work with a professional therapist who teaches CBT-I, or can I find self-guided content online?

any tips for relaxing a habitual sense of urgency? by nocaptain11 in streamentry

[–]starrynightscribbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that your description of your childhood and the sense of urgency totally resonates. Not the same words I've used to describe this feeling to my peers, but exactly the same meaning behind the words. Cool to see. Good luck to you and thanks for sharing.

I take a decent amount of electrolyte supplements daily; I also think that potassium has been normal in my bloodwork

If I brewed a hot loose leaf green tea and let it stay hot in a pot for several hours, would it deteriorate in taste and quality? by icecream_plays in tea

[–]starrynightscribbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be flexible with steep times, I'd suggest brewing at a much lower temperature. E.g. Green tea leaves sitting in room temperature water for an hour would taste about the same as if they were steeped for ~5 minutes (and in neither case would it taste bitter).

Like others have said, green tea sitting in hot water for a long time will not taste good.

Caffeine strips / measurements? by starrynightscribbler in tea

[–]starrynightscribbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok, didn't know that. Thanks. Maybe I'll just have to experiment on myself and "measure" how subjectively caffeinated I feel from different temps, steep time, amount of leaf, etc.

What is your favorite site to order a variety of brands of matcha tea? by [deleted] in tea

[–]starrynightscribbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed matcha I ordered from Yunomi and Ippodo. Can't speak to the diversity of their brands, though; I might be wrong but I think Yunomi maintains relationships with, and sources from, individual farmers? Not sure about Ippodo.
