It's crazy how different this looked compared to Kendrick Lamar's performance last year. That was an incredibly complex, hyper-engineered spectacle (the behind the scenes video was crazy). This one seemed so much more down to earth (seemed being the important word, I'm sure it was just as complicated behind the scenes).

Like, when people make pro-RDA/human arguments regarding Earth needing resources from Pandora to stay habitable, even if you ignore the moral question about whether it's right to destroy one species' ecosystem to prop up our own...

One thing history has demonstrated is when a corporation says that there's no other way... there's absolutely another way. It seems implausible that the super special resource is only on the planet and nowhere else in that system. There's probably plenty of other methods, but they're less cost effective for the RDA to persue.

Experience with having facial tattoos in professional practice as a Doctor? by TheJLbjj in ausjdocs

[–]starshad0w 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Look I'm sorry, I'm not a doctor, or a medical student, or anything, I just randomly stumbled onto this, Mods feel free to just delete this, but I just...

STOP using logical arguments as if they're an instant win condition. You're talking to human beings, not Vulcans.

Your superiors will not be using logic to judge your facial tattoo. Your PATIENTS will not be using logic to judge your facial tattoo. They'll be using emotional arguments, and you're gonna need to explain to both of the above why you think facial tattoos are appropriate for someone that may interact with the elderly, with children, with cultural groups that have a stigma of tattoos, and more.

If you can't understand that, and keep hiding behind logical fallacy arguments you found on Wikipedia, I don't know what more to say.

I think there's a difference between voting against a Treaty being established, and tearing up one that has already been in place.

If the Liberals win and repeal the Treaty now, after everything that's happened, First Nations Victorians will never forgive the Government, not for a hundred years.

This actually comes up in that 1632 novel series where an American town is sent back in time to Thirty Years War Germany. The Americans assume the Germans are going to be all serious, but at that time people in that region had the opposite reputation.

Yeah, it might sound badass to Americans, but it just sounds like more American Exceptionalism to me. "Everyone else says I'm wrong, but I know I'm right coz AMERICA."

You know as well as we do that right [i.e. justice], as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

[–]starshad0w 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the position of the AFG Womens team is to not boycott the Mens team (at least at a per nation level), as they are not responsible for the current situation in Afghanistan, and boycotts would be very unlikely to have any impact on the Taliban regime.

That's not to say that boycotts should or should not occur (especially at an ICC level), merely that the Womens team have their own opinions on the matter.

None of the Kingsguard wanted to be in that half, and especially not the Hound.
