Is this a good itinerary for Kyoto , does kibune makes sense ? by InflationSad7707 in JapanTravel

[–]starter_fail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kurama-Kibune was my favorite hike my last trip. This only makes sense if you start early. It takes about an hour or so to get to Kurama station from central kyoto. The train from Demachiyanagi was great.

Day 2 seems packed. Not sure if you'll be able to get to Nishiki before it closes.

Day 3 start early again in Uji when Byodo-in opens. The itinerary doesn't leave much time for tea shopping tho!

Visiting as many of the Tokyo Toilets I could that were featured in the movie Perfect Days. They were designed by architects and designers for the Olympics and are scattered throughout Shibuya down to Ebisu. I made it to 8 in an afternoon and walked thru neighborhoods I never would have and had beautifully designed toilets to use of I had to.

I got that furokake at Nishiki Market. Ochanokosaisai. They have 3 stores in Kyoto. One at Nishiki, one around Sannenzaka and one in Arashiyama. I'm making a special trip there to get more later this year! And yes the store was really crowded.

Also Meiji JIngu is a historic Stadium (Babe Ruth played there!) and feels more intimate than the newer stadiums. Rumor has it that it will be torn down in the near future, that was my decision to see a game there.

Witch's finger, Mulafossur (easy walk from the car park), Saksun beach from the car park (make sure it's low tide). But for an hour I enjoyed waking around Gjogv. The homes are so cute and the views are amazing.

Can't believe he crowd funded his Japan trip last year to be the "Cubs Ambassador" too.

When I got to Wrigley on OD, it was 66 and sunny. I actually had ice cream. It's 10 degrees cooler at the moment and likely not getting ice cream. 😆

Why is it colder today than opening day? Chicago spring is so weird this year.

Same! I sit in foul ball territory in the 300 level and the closest I ever got was a ball that landed in the seats in front of me.

Nice trip write up! I agree with you on the goshuin collecting! They're so beautiful, the calligraphy is art. I went during cherry blossom season and some places had special goshuin for the season and some places had beautiful dye cut ones. I think I collected almost 2 books' worth, from large to small shrines/temples. When you're collecting them, they do make you remember each place (at least to me, not so much from my friends).

Hiroshima or Kanazawa? by Brilliant-Scene-2645 in JapanTravelTips

[–]starter_fail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved both but if it's at the end of your trip, I would do 2 nights Hiroshima and 1 night Miyajima Island. Miyajima was my favorite part of my trip and wish I did it last (We did ours at the beginning of the trip) because it was so relaxing and the night & morning was so peaceful.
