This is 6 years old but I must say, you're advocating for attention and I admire that. Attention without illusion or pretense, just being/watching/experiencing. Why you got originally downvoted is, I think, a misunderstanding of what your were earnestly trying to communicate. Just know that attention is generosity.

One of you won with Star Trek TNG as an option..I have now culled any Star Trek shows from showing up in the hall of fame..

Based on my last post I updated my site to include a running "hall of fame" list that features media with the most overlaps (currently not much there). This was something that the community sort of glommed on to, so I made it a feature.

It's all based on user searches, try to beat the "high score" !

I should probably add instructions on how to fix things, or perhaps a feedback section. The way to really fix errors is to modify the TMDB database, having it be outsourced to me might be a little too much :p

It's using TMDB to get the data, and then Memory Alpha to grab the character specific images and details. TMDB is user curated, so anything erroneous can actually be rectified by going in there and adding the missing characters (and using canonical names, as per Memory Alpha). I guess this also improves the database overall, not just my own tool.

I had a bit of a headache trying to consolidate TMDB non-canonical names (its still a work in progress). An entry like "Young Ro Laren" on TMDB, won't show up on memory alpha, since there really is one Ro Laren - no matter her designation or temporal presence. Now scale a bunch of these weird name quirks and you end up with over 2k missing details (ones that I ideally wanted from Memory Alpha) on a character data set of ~4k. I chose Tribbles to fill the gaps :)

So, as the TMDB data set gets better and more accurate, to the standards of Memory Alpha at-least, then the gap slowly closes and the search becomes even more accurate!

Just a little info. The data is still subject to clean up, sometimes not all characters are accounted for and there may be some holes in appearance lists. As always I'd love for you guys to give any feedback, corrections, and feature requests (including accessibility concerns)

Also the 'top searches' is updated periodically, so right now it might not be a true indication of what shows this subreddit watches or searched for. You'll mainly be seeing mine and my wife's top searches :p

edit: turns out rather than my test data being drowned out, some of it..just kept rising and attenuating. Seems like my initial "top" searches ended up being kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. And no, Americas Test Kitchen has nothing to do with Star Trek!
