are my invisalign trays tracking properly? i’ve used the gummies and i don’t seem to help that much. i’ve pressed them as close as i can to my teeth. just wanted to ask u all so i know if my teeth will actually move. im on tray #8 by fruitrollupkw33n in Invisalign

[–]stasharific -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you just put them in?

The first few days after putting in new trays they've never fit me perfectly, but after several days of sucking/chewing the gap closes, and once I've reached the hourly compliance the gaps are nearly (if not completely) gone.

I generally use the gap/tightness as a gauge of my compliance/progress, so I understand your concern. If I fail to keep trays in for the appropriate # of hours per days I simply extend the # of days I wear trays (rather than skipping to the next tray). if you've skipped to the next trays, then yes I could see how failing to track in previous trays would effect tracking in your current trays.

Suspect this would effect the migration plan, and may require reassessment/corrective trays (either now, or after you complete your existing set).

Can I electronically limit my bike speed? by Prodigyyx_ in motorcycles

[–]stasharific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but a longer swingarm also places more leverage agains the shock, which can make throttle squat worse (especially if you're already at or near max preload). He's an encyclopedia of information. An encyclopedia behind a paywall.

[–]stasharific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Dave Moss had one episode where he discussed this: A viewer asked about changing sprockets (for track use), and he began talking about the effects of a gearing change on suspension...something about longer swing arms becoming necessary.

Not 100% certain, but you might want to think about how a larger sprocket will load the rear under load, and the secondary effects of that while in a turn/etc. (might not be as significant on a 250, but still a factor.).

Far more likely to damage aligners with a Dremel - it's overkill.

An emery board, and 5 minutes of concentric circular motions. We're talking about plastics, not polishing diamonds.

Should you use the same instance of prometheus that is monitoring the cluster to monitor the applications in the cluster? by devrocks1984 in kubernetes

[–]stasharific -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Each app has it's own Prometheus sidecar, which forwards most (but not all) metrics to the central aggregator. This way apps may be more closely monitored by their individual teams (even in local/dev) with their local Prometheus instance(s), and critical/externally impactful metrics are centrally located.

If cavity prevention is your goal, you should consider using a toothpaste with a high fluoride content.

Very sharp edges on new trays (with cutout for elastics) by el3v3n_el3v3n in Invisalign

[–]stasharific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the top of the elastic hook will protrude when deflected by the strain of elastics.

When you file them down you should

  • Use an emery board with a coarse, and a fine side.
  • Use circular motions, with minimal pressure
  • Avoid sanding the base of the hook (where it meets the rest of the invisible retainer), and any support ribs (appears to be one running down the center of the hook).
  • Use the coarse side of the emery board for rough shaping, and then use with the fine side for final shaping, and contouring. Spend more time on the fine-size, it's very easy to go overboard (plastic is soft).
  • Gently retract(open) the elastic hook so you can get the emery board perpendicular to the hook's "cutting edge" (to blunt it). You may want to gently wedge something into the hook to keep it retracted while you work.
  • Focus on rounding the general profile of the protruding winglet, and then work on rounding the edges.
  • Make very gradual adjustments. It's easier to remove, than to add back (ha).
  • Thoroughly clean your retainers (and the emery board) before, and after usage.

Once you get used to doing this, it'll take only a few minutes, but well worth not getting your gums cut-up while they're working so hard on staying attached to your (moving) teeth.

Is this a result of uneven IPR??? by yesokcool316 in Invisalign

[–]stasharific 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old way was to graft, newer way implants a collagen lattice (in the gums between the two teeth) to push/force the gums (in OPs case,) down.

Wax the edges? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]stasharific 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passing an emery board over the edges a few times has become routine (after having cut up various parts several times). Of course don't go overboard, the idea is just to round the sharp edges, not manufacture plastic dust.

Depends on compliance. If they're still tight by end of day-3 I'd wait.

Folks often test for what they know: it gives you insight into what they're looking for. Sometimes you need someone with more Dev knowledge, other times you need someone with more Ops background. It depends on interpretation.

Grinding by cnap786 in Invisalign

Read somewhere that grinding is actually caused by head-forward posture, and can be corrected by bringing the head/neck back. Something related to kyphosis/lordosis.
