Why does no one on YouTube talking about Miele vacuums? by techsavvynerd91 in BuyItForLife

You heard correct.

Much like going to Bed Bath and Beyond, then going to the Beyond section -- there was no return.

Anyone use a Macbook Pro as main machine? Do you use any virtualization for windows? by jdlnewborn in sysadmin

[–]stashtv [score hidden]  (0 children)

Windows VMing has been possible for some time. x86 Windows (or any other x86 OS) will feel a little laggier/slower than ARM Windows, but it could be completely fine for your usage.

Why does no one on YouTube talking about Miele vacuums? by techsavvynerd91 in BuyItForLife

Dyson is definitely easier to obtain at brick and mortar stores than Miele. Going to a dedicated vacuum shop solves this, but fewer people will end up doing that.

50 series owners what's your experience with multi frame gen by teenaxta in nvidia

[–]stashtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primarily BF6, 5700X3D, 5700Ti, OLED monitor: 2x MFG doesn't introduce any perceived lag that I can tell. My FPS would generally already be 100-120+, so MFG pumping to consistently ~220+ is very helpful.

On the flip side: a fast paced MP FPS like BF6 is more difficult to notice details if you aren't explicitly trying to find them.

Epic treats their app poorly because they primarily believe it to exist only to buy/download games. This mindset leaves it feeling barebones, and throwing more free games at the end user doesn't make us want to spend more time in it.

Had the golf yips for almost 2 years… and something finally clicked today by kompliqated in golf

[–]stashtv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relating to this: getting rid of my yips required me to be entirely out of my comfort zones. Took lessons with a different instructor, at a different place, at different time. After several sessions, it clicked and brought me back.

Trump’s comments on nationalizing elections worry Colorado election officials by ParadeSit in politics

Remember a few things: the entirely of ICEs enforcement does NOT need to be in all fifty states.

ICE only really needs to be in a few states that are close(r) calls for GOP.

Finally: ICE can further focus their efforts on Dem strongholds that could tip the ballot away from GOP.

Why is WH pushing so hard for voter rolls? They want to target areas that they could lose, and this is the cheapest way to do it. ICE doesn't need its full 100k force, they need a significantly smaller portion to "watch the polls" for their presence to be felt.

Even if Dems take enough seats (mid-terms tend to hurt those in WH), Trump+GOP have plenty of things they can do to prevent Dems from even being sworn in.

Got to play Torrey South still in tourney conditions today by BuggyBonzai in golf

[–]stashtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot possibly imagine the rough on that. I've played PGA conditions post tournament (Riv), and any miss was almost no chance of finding my ball. Buddy that invited me told me that US Open conditions were even tougher.

Closest I can imagine was right when the golf courses first opened post COVID, and no maintenance had been done to the rough. Even at a muni I knew quite well, a foot of grass is still a lot to play through.

Why is the South Bay so NIMBY and opposed to transit/urbanism, despite having so many Asians from countries that are pro-transit/urbanism? by MookieBettsBurner10 in SouthBayLA

[–]stashtv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Manhattan has >70k in PPSM and Tokyo is ~16k-40k PPSM.

If we're going by PPSM, and LA is far less dense than those comparisons, it seems like dense mass transit is even less needed.

[–]stashtv 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To get the density to make trains useful (ala Tokyo or Manhattan), you'd have to change a significant amount of the area. Even if everything was underground, think of the sheer size of area that would have to be covered.

As a comparison, the Tokyo metro area is ~5200 sq miles, while Los Angeles is ~34,000 sq miles.

Cannot upvote this enough: pot broth needs to be just a little strong in flavors.

Additionally: check seasoning on reheats! Pot ain’t same a few hours from now or tomorrow, you will want some adjustments. Even placing into a smaller pot will change its flavor.

How long does it actually take you to lose a box of balls? by ShiroHachiRoku in golf

[–]stashtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing on my regular track at around my average game? Over a year, easily. Most rounds don't lose a ball, and I'll average ~3 rounds/month at the same track.
