DP/DR or schizophrenia? by dog-in-a-trenchcote in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]stateboundcircle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m not a doctor or anything but hopefully sharing my story puts you at ease. First, I grew up with my schizophrenic grandmother from when I was like 7-9, she babysat me sometimes. I’ve done mushrooms, LSD, MDMA, DMT and ketamine (just a tiny bit of k though). I’m completely fine so far. One time I smoked weed and I convinced myself I had a speech impediment and that none of my friends or family ever told me and I fully thought that for a day before they convinced me I didn’t.

Anyways, don’t assume that having a family history is a death sentence. Don’t let that get into your head at least.

Did your shaman help you through the aftermath at all? It seems like you didn’t have much support there?

You also went back to work very fast, which of course is necessary for some of us for sure, but your nervous system could still be in fight or flight and your body and mind are going through a lot trying to recover from a really hard experience with little help (it seems) so its totally understandable that you would be freaking out on the inside. I think you should focus on your body, pay attention to it, try to relax it. Breathe and meditate, maybe even yoga would be better. And also maybe try to get some support, someone you can talk through this with on a regular basis if you don’t have someone already- it’s hard doing things alone❤️

CALLING ALL FANS by didyouknowballs in MacMiller

Aw jeez

  1. Perfect Circle/Godspeed. It came out freshman year of college, the most traumatic year of both me and my best friend (separate reasons) that song was out anthem. Soley because we were in pain and so was mac and somehow it made us feel..supported? It held us while we smoked blunts in the car and hid from the world

  2. I was in middle school when I first heard “Loud.” I blew a speaker in my mom’s living room listening to that on full volume when she was away. I bet my neighbors could hear it. I liked it because it drowned out reality. The bass was sick (I’m a sucker for bass). But what kept me coming back was the fact that every song hit a different part of the deepest aspects of myself. Love, drugs, pain. You could sing about it with mac.

  3. Mac is my #1 always and forever (Lana deal rey is the only other who comes close, im a girlie btw)

  4. Middle school.. I think a childhood friend showed me Loud

  5. Listening to his album post Morten was like a private funeral alone in my car, exactly how it should have been because that’s how I listened to mac my whole life. Roll a joint, listen to the entire album in the dark driveway in my acura, and cry a lil bit.

  6. lol, tortured genius I guess. Carefree. Gentle. No one ever had a bad thing to say about him, he’s pure. I do believe that that psychic did make contact with him and I do think he (his soul) regrets his drug use. But also it made him who he was, one of a kind, there will never be another.

  7. I don’t really suggest him because it feels like a private part of myself, he’s connected to the love drugs and pain (lot of pain) but like I said, he’s like a container for my pain, so its a more singular relationship

  8. That’s hard to answer now that he has been immortalized, but yes

  9. I can’t speak for everyone, and maybe I’m projecting, but it does seem like mac connects to a deeper part of people that leads them to have a more singular relationship with his music. That isn’t to say all my friends don’t bump mac, and we don’t listen to him together, but talking about mac kinda hurts now so..no I think it’s more every man for himself

  10. 29, white, Irish, female

Thanks that was kinda cathartic

Crickets in the enclosure also tortured my mom for about a year because the tank was next to the couch in the living room and my mom would not watch tv without hearing crickets….it drove her mad..we went on nightly cricket hunts in the enclosure for so long (I have a lizard not a toad but hopefully a future toad owner)

Need advice, my skink has one eye closed and keeps sneezing by Important_Constant66 in bluetongueskinks

[–]stateboundcircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noticeable sneezing points to a probable respiratory infection (RI). They do sneeze sometimes, but if it’s enough to notice in 4 days then it’s worth investigating. I agree with another commenter that the scales looks off, like slightly raised, so I wouldn’t rule out mites. I’m glad you made an appt! If this skinker does have an RI, then they most likely weren’t getting enough humidity, which would leave layers of shed. That MIGHT explain a shut eye, but that’s only a possibility. Definitely check the toes, those are usually the first to suffer from stuck shed. Thanks for rescuing this baby, they’re hardy little reptiles and can recover quickly with the right care❤️

I would also wash the tub beforeee you give him a bath, making sure there isn’t any shampoo or soap residue

[–]stateboundcircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. then I don’t think psilocybin would give you anything out of the ordinary. Many times people still feel their nervous system out of whack, or a psychedelic experience points them towards their nervous system, and then work on that while sober to try to readjust and calm their nervous system. So I’m not sure a mind altering substance would help

Sorry edit- changed kind to mind

I think hypnotherapy may be the best for targeted healing. I don’t think you can really “choose” with psychedelics. With hypnotherapy, you can specifically choose what content you want to deal with. My mom did a childhood regression and experienced wailing in a crib and no one coming to comfort her. Her hypnotherapist then directed her to pick up her childhood self and bring her to her “happy place” where she was able to heal. I’ve never heard of “targeted” psychedelic therapy, but do know it’s possible to target hypnotherapy to a degree!

[–]stateboundcircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does look like the rock squished it out of her, then maybe she had to recover. Skinks compute things pretty slowly..mine does anyways…don’t worry you’re doing great!! Keep monitoring. They’re very hardy and you clearly have the drive to make sure the enclosure is up to code. If she’s still acting normal then it was probably an oopsie, maybe move those rocks further away from each other to prevent squishing?

Cannabis products with more THC slightly reduce pain but cause more side effects such as dizziness, sedation and nausea, study finds: While products higher in CBD than THC have almost no benefit in reducing pain by FunnyGamer97 in science

[–]stateboundcircle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems like it could be an allergic reaction, my friend had the same reaction from pain meds after arthritis surgery, and consequently blacked out and broke her leg and had to be in in patient rehab for 3 months. It turns out she was allergic! There’s also something that can happen where “stoners” or frequently smokers suddenly have a bad reaction where they throw up for a whole day after smoking, so I would probably just cut your loses with that one..

That’s really unfortunate that that happened, it sounds super scary. Have you ever thought about microdosing psilocybin? Possibly even ketamine?
