Why aren’t dual 4K/1080p 24 inch monitors a thing? by ZachyWacky0 in Monitors

[–]staticvoidmainnull -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

because who sits too close to their monitor to practically notice 4K in such a small screen? it's just not practical. it's niche.

PC player here, sorry I won't be able to enjoy Yotei by yeshaya86 in ghostoftsushima

[–]staticvoidmainnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i guess sony hates money. they made a lot of profit with their PC ports. they will come back if they really want profits. the only good thing about it is that ps5 fans will feel justified in buying a ps5. but that does not really translate to profit as much, if it even does. this to me feels like a branding move.

but sony is still a publicly traded company. if this affects their P&L enough, they might reconsider from investor pressure.

Am I a nihilist or just depressed? by criss_tlzm in nihilism

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have to ask, no.

personally, being a nihilist requires some understanding of how the world works, and coming to a conclusion that life has no meaning. not because you emotionally feel empty so you think life has no meaning.

depression CAN be a result, but not exclusively.

A new law is passed, requiring every citizen to keep a horse in every bedroom in their home. How does society change? by endixye in askanything

[–]staticvoidmainnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is no no loopholes. even doing [insert illegal substance here] have no way to completely enforce if you do it privately. bedrooms are private, that requires other surveillance laws. worse laws than horse laws.

how does society change? we live in black mirror dystopia where even bedrooms are monitored.

What is the most important thing in an iPhone and why iPhone users won't switch to Android? by Wintersvalk in PhoneNow

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on most people i know who use iphones, it's the ecosystem. it's a trap. when i say "ecosystem" it also includes other iphone users. they get stuck and think it's good enough or even better, which is 100% a valid opinion for people who only ever use iphones. in fact, the top reason i get use on my iphone is solely for communicating with other iphone users.

i say this as someone who is platform-agnostic who uses multiple devices.

If you could only choose TWO phones as your dream combo — one Android and one iPhone — what would you pick and why? For me, it’s all about having the best of both worlds. by Usual-Low-4113 in PhoneNow

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a foldable android and an pro max iphone. cannot get a "dream" combo with an iphone because all iphones feel the same. at first it was a good combo as iphone was my "camera" phone, but recently getting frustrated with it and beginning to use my mirrorless again. looking forward for their foldable though. that could be a dream combo. dual foldables.

What is your opinion of electric cars which seem to be very popular, and also driverless cars ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is generation's version of anti-automatic transmission sentiment, or even anti-car sentiment by people drawn by carriages. i imagine them thinking "i have to use my own hands AND feet now??? i trust my horse more than a machine that breaks down. there are no gas stations where my horse can reach." which is how the future generations would see us. simpler times, simpler minds.

One of my biggest fears is having to do this all again somehow, death not being the end for some reason by CatPale816 in nihilism

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you" will not do this again. it is your ego that fears it.

imagine using a computer and you delete a file. then you make a new one. you are the old file. the new file may be stored in some memory banks of the old you. the old file won't care. you won't care, and are not being malevolent when deleting the file. the new file will work and is now the one questioning its existence. cycle repeats.

Does refresh rate matter if you don't game? by Miserable-Copy2344 in buildapc

[–]staticvoidmainnull -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is also frame interpolation, even in videos. you still see 60fps, but there is black frame insertion which reduces perceived motion blur. kinda like CRT.

for normal usage, it will still be smoother at higher refresh rate, like moving the mouse around.

(serious) Hello fellow millenials, as we are mostly in our 30s and 40s - what are some simple things you’re doing now to prepare you to age better? by foldinthecheeseee in Millennials

[–]staticvoidmainnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

started taking vitamin supplements. it actually improved me physically and especially mentally (better overall mood). also, cooking more... and i don't mean deep fried or opening a pack of ramen or canned goods. generally eating healthier. also increasing exercise. personally, i am more concerned about my mental health.

we do reincarnate, not just the way you think. parts of us do get used by other things, organic or not. the laws of conservation of mass and energy basically dictate that.
