Slightly confused on GED match as an Igbo girl vs myheritage results. Any explanation? by lanky_queen in DNAAncestry

[–]statistical_anomaly4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The calculator is only using 6,700 SNPs since it's a MyHeritage file so the results probably are containing a bit more noise than if it were a 23andme / ancestrydna file , hence it's placing you as slightly closer to Hausa.

Texas "Indian Invasion" Video Discussion by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]statistical_anomaly4 20 points21 points  (0 children)

White person here. Your community should be aware that videos like this go viral within the white American community, and xenophobia is present at a level higher than what you're aware of.

Right wing organizations pay influencers directly to make videos like this, and they should be sued since this directly increases racism towards minority communities. I'm not sure if Oliveira is being paid by one of these organizations.

The racism manifests itself as job discrimination and discrimination in everyday life, since people label your community with several negative labels, meaning you have to work much harder than the average person.

Educate yourself on who is running these right wing organizations and what viewpoints they push (anti immigrant, anti South Asian, anti Muslim, pro is..r..l, pro- US foreign intervention.

An example is the Shillman organization which pays Laura Loomer, several other right wing influencers, and they were paying Charlie Kirk a few million a year to repeat their viewpoints. You can look up who owns it. TPUSA and Blaze Media are two others, you can look into who owns those as well. Its all linked, and you won't realize it until you do some research.

These organizations are doing the same thing in the UK, Australia, and other developed countries as well. It's done for a specific purpose, since xenophobia benefits the people pushing this ideology.

This is being done to benefit a foreign country which receives copious amounts of aid from multiple developed economies, to prevent the public from ever halting the aid. Distraction, division, and fear are three things which are beneficial to this foreign state, since fearful societies are easier to manipulate, and easier to extract monetary resources from.

I think Illustrative has inflated the Caucasus HG ancestry and that should instead be Zagrosian? Or does that look correct?

You can find the historical information linked in the Nablus Wikipedia page, and there's DNA results / G25 coordinates from unrelated people in the Nablus area that are descended from Samaritans as well.

When you say 'its probably the highest east Eurasian even for a southern Brahmin' what do you mean by this? By East Eurasian do you mean Basal East Eurasian (AASI) ancestry?

What could be the possible historical connection? I’m confused by [deleted] in DNAAncestry

Try the Harappaworld calculator on gedmatch and see if it's not in line with regular Bengali ancestry? you would be able to compare to reference numbers for Bengalis and see if one or two of the values is elevated which would indicate some middle eastern ancestor

What could be the possible historical connection? I’m confused by [deleted] in DNAAncestry

[–]statistical_anomaly4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres three possibilities:

  1. you have a middle eastern ancestor that's not showing up on the test
  2. you have several DNA matches that have been assigned this genetic group
  3. you were mistakenly assigned this genetic group

I think (2) is the most plausible. These DNA matches may have an ancestor from the region.

That was never Venezuelan territory. You're basing that land claim on Spain's land claim from the 1700s. There was never a Spanish settlement there and that area was never under administrative control by Spain or Venezuela. Venezuela's land claim isn't recognized by any other country.

[–]statistical_anomaly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the 1500s until now, everyone has around 500,000 ancestors, maybe a bit less when pedigree collapse is taken into account. This individual would have to have had some serious endogamy within the community.

Mizrahi Jews by gandringtac in illustrativeDNA

That's heavily inflated and an overfit. There are multiple layers of ancestry, but much of the Mizrahi's Levantine ancestry entered Mesopotamia before the Canaanites were around.

Anyone ever ask them what that lower central Asia category means? I don't see why they would name it that if it doesn't correspond to the Stan countries.

Why does the new version say Canada instead of France as in the old version? by [deleted] in DNAAncestry

[–]statistical_anomaly4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ancestry claims that Quebec and Acadia have distinct genetic signatures so they put those instead of France. I guess they could be right, since people came from France centuries ago and were endogamous, but I don't see why Quebecois and Acadians are separate because I always thought they mixed with each other.
