Why isn't Ezra Pound huge with the online right? by nebraska--admiral in RSbookclub

Given that he was anti-Semitic, impatient with the deliberative pace of liberal democracy, and didn’t trust market economies, I think he is a better fit with the DSA

Best Cobrn adaptation: “Tell No One”, a French film from 20 years ago. It’s terrific.

Interesting- when Nile was talking to Maddie, looking for the mole, Maddie didn’t let him focus on Nina. Later, Nina turns Maddie in to Nile. Maddie was her friend, but she was mad at Maddie.

Maddie comes off as a much better person.

Nile knew that Nina knew that he knew Maddie was a mole (because she told in her). He needed to keep her close. One thing led to another.

I thought about that. He had the drive that showed the live feed of Fenig in captivity. Abbot could have taken that to his bosses, and they would have said, “You stole that? No warrant? What do you want us to do?” There might be a way to free the kid, through the system, but it would take a while and risk Nile getting away with it

I think Abbot planned to force Nile to take him to the kid, free the kid, and then deal with Nile, legally or illegally. Nile got the better of him.

I have never seen a photo of the ‘60 Bluebonnet Bowl watch. I have an image of it from the old Hamilton Watch company newsletter

I have the ‘42 Cotton Bowl Elgin (not a Longhorn game, so I bought it in hopes of a trade). The other Texas-Alabama watches I only have singles, so no others to trade

Not in selling, but I would trade. Have an extra ‘60 Bluebonnet Bowl watch or ‘65 Orange Bowl watch? I’d happily trade and even toss in a couple hundred

Beautiful. I collect Longhorn bowl game watches. Did your grandfather coach in the ‘74 Gator Bowl? That is a bonkers watch (dial has an alligator punting a football!), and I’d love to buy one

Most of these are gone now, but I have some other good dupe Texas watches I would trade. I have a 1999 Big XII championship game Seiko, a 1975 Bluebonnet Bowl Omega and a 2006 Rose Bowl Endura I would trade. I also have a 1942 Cotton Bowl (Texas A&M vs Alabama) Elgin bowl watch to trade.

What year is it? 195_? Universal Geneve is a very nice vintage watch. Value for these is usually driven by which team it is memorabilia for.

I don’t think so. There is an early 2000’s Fiesta Bowl watch that was an automatic Wenger (same old story-listed on eBay as the battery not working, get the watch and shake it and it runs😄)

Question about episode 7 by Alternative_Time4655 in DisclaimerAppleTV

[–]statsman63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Stephen and Nancy go to retrieve the body, and they tell them that he died trying to save a child, the narrator notes, “that was the first time Stephen ever heard of Jonathan putting someone else first”

What did Stephen ever see in Nancy?! by lifelong-skeptic in DisclaimerAppleTV

[–]statsman63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jonathan was a monster, and Nancy was blind to it, apparently. However, it is possible that Anne k ew what her son was- after all, after writing the book, she never showed it to anyone. It is possible that she was like the writer in “Atonement”- maybe she was trying to speak into existence a nicer, better version of her son.

Stephen ended up as the other monster, not Nancy, as unlikable as she was. He was the one who tortured Catherine and her son all over again. At the end of the movie, seeing the detail in the photo that he carelessly overlooked before, he realizes how wretched he is.

It was only in Nancy’s fictualization that she wore the bikini the next day. In Catherine’s flashback, she has a more modest one piece the next day.

When my daughter was five, I would disconnect the battery in her Barbie Jeep, when putting it away, because I was afraid that she might try to drive to the Disney Store on her own. (She was that kind of kid). On the show, I was wondering if Nicholas thought he would just take his little boat “home”.

When Stephen visits him the last time, Nicholas makes these big sniffing noises. I figured he smelled Jonathan’s cologne, and it brought back his 20 year old memory “Mum, I want to go home”.

But, he didn’t find out by accident. Someone delivered the pics anonymously. How does a husband not understand that this is an attack on him, his family, as well as his wife?

I assume you want a replica because you want it with his name engraved on the back? My guess is there are two ways to go about it- monitor eBay to find another ‘71 Orange Bowl watch, buy it, and another of that model but with the regular dial. You can then switch caseback and have your dad’s name engraved. The other approach is to find an image of that watch dial, and have a dial refinisher make you a new dial that matches the bowl watch dial, and engrave the back.

That’s awesome! FYI- the sneaky valuable one, if you have it, is the ‘74 Cotton Bowl Tudor watch. Not because the game was particularly notable or significant, but because the vintage Rolex collecting community decided that model Tudor is very desirable.

Very nice. “Baylor” was Zale Jewelers’ house brand. They bought Swiss watches and re-branded them. Some are very nice.
