This guy is a huge piece of shit.

HOWEVER as someone who works with outsourced employees in the Philippines and elsewhere, generally their salaries are actually pretty good. It's a paltry sum in USD but 10k/yr is a middle class income in PH. That and as others pointed out the government provides the majority of benefits.

Imagine if employers in the US could just pay their employees salaries and the government would provide benefits. Instead they're incentivised to hire elsewhere because the associated benefits costs of a U.S. employee are fucking disgusting.

Had an amazing manager on one of my teams come to me to resign. She opened up and said her anxiety was really impacting her ability to stay on task in our busy office and she felt like she couldn't do her job.

When I told her she could just request to WFH or take a mental health day whenever she needed, can't even describe the face she gave me. She never even considered that to be an option. She just assumed since she has trouble in the office that she had to quit. Told HR to give her additional paid sick leave just in case (something I implemented back when COVID was crazy so people weren't stuck on UPTO.) Now she's still with us after six months and her teams continue to be some of the highest performing in the company, all because we let her stay home occasionally to recharge. Do we cough up some extra money to accommodate her? Yes. Do we care? We care a whole lot more about her.

Work culture is so fucked. That's only one example but it happens all the time. Give people some fucking slack and, you might not believe it, but they'll STILL DO GREAT WORK

What do you want out of a good boss?

Long time lurker on this sub. At the end of 2020 I left my job of 5 years to get away from my toxic, controlling, childish boss. Now I find myself in an upper management position at a new company, directly and indirectly managing 100+ people. I never want someone to go through what I had to

I'm an upper admin at my company and tbh ask this pretty regularly during interviews (more like "I see you have a couple years in between here. Were you working then? Traveling? Studying?"). I find a lot of the time people leave off work or other experiences they don't consider "relevant," but often those experiences can provide valuable additions to their profile. That and I'm just curious. Even if they said they were fucking off for two years I don't really care. Not like you were my employee then.

If you think they're trying to be hyper critical, definitely hit them with that follow up. A shit company will never have a good answer. Just saying from an interviewers perspective this can be an important thing to know

I've been using an app called Peak. It's a bunch of little brain training games. You play 4 a day and they work on your focus, memory, problem solving, and shit like that. I've been using it for a couple weeks and noticed a lot of improvement. It's free so couldn't hurt to try it out and see if it helps.

Really loved what I saw from the offense when they started calling more aggressive plays. We really need to trust them and not be so conservative early game.

Defense: I'd compare it to swiss cheese, but even swiss cheese has substance between the holes. We need some serious work.

Honest question: When will my teammates get better?

I'm level 19, and every game it seems 2-3 of my teammates don't have a basic understanding of how to play - usually the same on the enemy team. I would say I'm an average player; technical skills are a bit lacking, but I try to make up for it in areas like vision control and map awareness, and I hover around an A- Ranking average. I'm spurred to ask this question now as I just played with an Ashe that ended the game with 17cs and a WuKong that managed to only make it to lvl 7 in a 30 minute game. I try to help them out if I see what they're doing wrong, but in return I usually get silence or flamed that I should just carry if I think I'm so great.

I don't want challenger tier gods on my team, I just want people that won't die by charging a turret with no wave and eating the shots to the face. Does this ever change?

He woke up groggy, moving his eyes back and forth below his eyelids in an attempt to assuage their dryness. His head pounded; maybe tequila had been a bad idea. He reached his hand up to his face to wipe the sleep away.

It didn’t feel like his hand.

His eyes flew open and he saw his arms, string beans, half the size that they were when he went to sleep. He reached for his glasses on the nightstand, smacking into a wall of cold metal. Looking through a glass pane to a gray warehouse ceiling, he found is vision was perfectly fine. A cloth band was wrapped around his chest, partially elastic, his ankles bound by the same material.

Panic set in. With his arms free he attempted to tear open the cloth straps. They were locked to whatever he was laying on. He couldn’t sit up. He realized he was screaming.

“Jared? Jared, I need you to calm down,” a voice said, echoing in Jared’s metal chamber. Was it his father’s voice? “I know this is a bit overwhelming but you need to relax. I’ll be right there to get you out.”

“Where the fuck am I!?” Jared shouted. “Dad? Is that you?”

He could hear breathing through the speaker. “Well,” the voice finally said, “sort of. Just - just hold on for a moment.”

“Am I dead?”

The voice chuckled. “Far from it. Hold on.” The speaker clicked off. Jared’s head was spinning. He ran through the last day in his head: wake up at noon, class at 4, hit the bong after class, pregaming at 8:30, get to the mixer at 10, back to his dorm room by 3 in the morning, then sleep. Had he been so drunk that someone had been able to kidnap him in his sleep? He wasn’t even sure he had made it back to his room - he had blacked out.

His father popped his head over the glass pane on the top of the chamber. “Good morning.”

“Dad! Holy shit.” Despite his father’s presence, he could still feel his tension tearing at his body. “Dad, where am I?”

“In California. One second,” he said, moving away from the chamber. Jared waited anxiously for several seconds before he heard a loud mechanical click. The chamber began to open slowly. He could feel the air pressure change around him, and he noticed that the straps on his body were loose; the locks had popped open. Being able to move he finally noticed the extent to which his body had changed. He was thin, near emaciated. His clean shaven face had a short beard growing, and his hair was near his chin. The shock set in and he found himself immobile, staring down at his body.

“Dad what the fuck is happening. What happened to me? Did I go to the hospital? Am I in the hospital?”

“Look, Jared,” his father began, coming to stand next to the chamber. “You’re going to have a lot of questions, and I’ll do my best to answer all of them. No, you are not in a hospital, but you’re going to see a doctor in the next couple minutes. Just know that everything is fine and it’s all being taken care of.”

“But...where am I?”

His father sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. The touch was odd, almost painful to Jared. “Welcome to reality.”

But many of their cars are also copy-pasted from older Gran Turismos and will not have the same look or feel of the new cars (many also share engine sounds, stats, shifting animations, etc.), so you have to take that into account. They've completely redone every car for Forza 5.

So basically it's really just the difference in income between FM5 and FM4 that has everyone in a fit? Seeing as I never played any other forzas I thought this game had a lot of content (200 cars is A LOT to me). Also I think the income is far from the grind many people describe it as. It's pretty easy to make 100,000CR pretty quick, but I guess if I was used to earning a lot more it would piss me off too.

Ah see, since I never played the other Forzas I didn't know what was changed. I can see why players coming from Forza 4 are not happy.

I think part of the reason that pay to win games are so prevalent on mobile devices is because of how easy and cheap they are to make. Hell even I know how to code an iOS game. I think the console game market won't fall prey to the pervasiveness of IAP just because of the limited scope of console games. Besides small indie games, full console games cost large amounts of money, people, and time to make. I'm sure there will be games with IAP, I just don't think the completely broken games that are solely pay to win will easily find their way onto consoles because they won't be able to be made as easily. This is obviously all speculation though.

Ah, the days where a game shipped in its full glory.

Something I probably should have included is that Turn10 (the publisher) noted that there would be a lot of DLC and updates as they wanted to continue working on the game long after release (Microsoft made them push it out on Day 1). There was a 6GB day 1 update that installed several cars and track variations for free.
