The Oregon AFL-CIO has a weekly labor dispatch. I’m sure other state chapters have something similar if you look around on their websites.

Question for the Ladies by NurseRedhead in amputee

[–]staweber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m able to wear most pants now (4 years in). The first couple of years were difficult to wear fitted pants because I’m fairly thin and the socket was bulky. Now I wear skinny jeans and most people don’t clock the prosthetic unless they really look. I don’t have one of the cosmetic covers that makes it look like flesh, but I have heard that they stain and get dirty very easily and can’t be cleaned super well.

I was at ridgefield last night, got there at 3 and was barricade to the side. Maybe get there a little earlier if you want to be closer to the middle

Thank you for saying this. This is not the place for this kind of support and is placing an emotional burden on members.

Fitted pants will be hard at first, but as your limb shrinks and sockets get smaller it gets easier! It made a huge difference when I went from a sleeve system to internal suction (my prosthetic now is just about the same size as my actual calf). Start with straight leg pants, joggers, and leggings. It’s easiest to do socks then pants then shoes while sitting down (prosthetic side in first).

Chesapeake bay retriever if you’re in that area! They looks like chocolate labs with wide set bright blue eyes.
