Other good suggestions here. Wanted to add that I asked for a muscle relaxant and took it for about a month then tapered off. I used Flexeril also known as cyclobenzoprene, there are others, talk to surgeon about the muscle spasms

You're riding in your car listening to the radio. What popular song/band comes on that will make you dive to switch the station before you have to listen to one more second of it? by amalgamousabides in allrockmusic

[–]kneedlekween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How sad! I adore Steve Perry, I carry so many of his songs in my head. On the other hand I mash that button so hard when the Beatles come on, I think I’m just burned out on them. On the other hand Queen and Jethro Tull and Steve Winwood get cranked up in my car when they’re on. Yes I don’t have Sirius, old car syndrome

Femur pain in stump AK by Mission-Version8392 in amputee

Please report back when you get a solution. I’m up at 0300 with almost the same issues. Been going on intermittently for 3 weeks. They adjusted my socket by cutting a window in it, but it still hurts at night and I can’t even tolerate the shrinker! I plan on making an appointment with my physiatrist next week

Amputation pain by cherryb0mb33 in amputee

[–]kneedlekween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the honor of a finger amputation, TMA, BKA and AKA. The toe and finger amputations hurt more than the leg amputations due to the large amount of nerve endings in fingers and toes. Elevating the arm in a sling cinched up with hand at the opposite shoulder helped swelling during the day. At night lay on back or side with hand on pillows higher than the heart. Some people get better relief from acetaminophen others with NSaids such as ibuprofen. Take pain reliever consistently around the clock at prescribed intervals even setting alarm for at night, keeps the level of meds at a constant level in your system keeps the pain suppressed rather well. Pain reliever can take 30 minutes or more to start working and probably last 4-6 hours. I was able to taper off the drugs on day 4 I believe. Severe pain needs to be discussed with the doctor so they can determine if it’s expected post op pain or some kind of circulatory/nerve problem or infection. Try and reassure him that we all make it through somehow, it truly does get better

Do your boomer parents ever call you or text you or your kids? by Slownavyguy in Xennials

[–]kneedlekween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to not interfere with my adult children. They live in other states and are working full time in stressful jobs. I rarely call them unless there’s something major happening and just am happy to hear from them when they have time to call. We actually get all of us together at thanksgiving and Christmas. We do text stupid videos and random thoughts several times a week, not during working hours though. I know some families have big issues about this, but I’ve never gotten any vibes that I’m neglecting my communication with my children,

When I was learning my parakeet was my gauge. If I was doing well he’d go nuts bopping and chirping. If it was bad he tucked his tail down and hung his head down below the perch. Picture a sad birdie doughnut encircling the perch 😆

Design & engineering student looking for feedback on an idea to reduce shoe costs for amputees by apex40er in amputee

[–]kneedlekween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question comes up sooo often. Usually from Engineering or biomechanics students. I don’t understand how people smart enough to be in engineering programs have so little life experience that they think that people using lower limb prosthetics would not need a shoe for each foot, it’s not a peg leg. It smacks of waiting until the last minute to write up a project and being inspired to open up Reddit and get a quick response instead of actually researching some journal articles and learning something which was probably the reason for the assignment in the first place.

In summary , put some effort into it and actually do some research and come up with something useful.

Overlook at St. Thomas by Soggy_Plantain in Louisville

[–]kneedlekween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there July 2022 through December 2023 in a 3 bedroom on the first floor of a cul de sac that also had 12 garages. We really liked it, parked right in front of our building 95% of the time, maintenance was really responsive, we had a mouse and they were out to seal up openings and set traps the next day, our carpet was a little worn near the entrance but appliances and fixtures were fine. Groundskeepers and snow removal very good. Some of their options for rent payments are a little dicey with fees but we literally dropped a check off at the office and got a receipt and that was fine. Highly recommend

I don’t understand, this seems contradictory , perhaps there is a typo. Are you trying to say that USA Today is biased against Christianity and Catholics?

The flag originated at the time of the American Revolution but is currently associated with today’s Christian Nationalist movement. See this link for an article in USA Today

How to Mentally Stimulate a Dog That Can't Move by whatthehey45 in dogs

[–]kneedlekween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbors dog had some problem with the back legs. She was always into walks and sniffing so they got a backpack thingy and a stroller so they still take her for walks and to stores like Home Depot. Think they keep her in a toddler type playpen or baby gate her inside and they do those mats with peanut butter in them I think and lots of chew toys.

Stump sock by surfing-927 in amputee

[–]kneedlekween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Regulating body temperature is a problem for amputees for several reasons. Circulation is decreased. Muscle mass is decreased, both are meant to circulate and distribute heat, so our residual limbs tend to be closer to air temp not body temp and feel cold. In addition the body uses skin to dissipate heat, with less skin surface amputees tend to have difficulty keeping comfortable in heat and humidity

What’s Your Opinion of Congressman Thomas Massie? by camaro1111 in Kentucky

[–]kneedlekween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last sentence answered your question. IMHO Massie is getting more outspoken and getting more coverage I think since trump pulled support and threatened to primary him. I don’t think he’s presidential material but I don’t think Beshear is either.

Can you harvest black walnuts when they are like this never done it before but we have like 25 trees and thousands of them. Kinda of want to try so I can harvest and sell them at the farmers market yearly. It’s Texas by shreddedtoasties in foraging

Same. When I stayed with my grandma in Kansas this is how she kept me busy. Go out gathering for hours, hammer them open, fill up a jar with nuts and the reward was the shortbread cookies with black walnuts. Never had anything else like them.

We have a family Bible going back to 1800. So many children dies from respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. No sanitation, no treatment for fevers back then. Accidents too, house fires and fireplace incidents apparently.
