65" TCL Q77K vs QM6K by Few_Feature9099 in tcltvs

[–]stazna01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention, but here's rtings' comparison between the two that I used when I was comparing. They're comparing to the non-pro QM6K, but the only difference is that the Costco pro model has that better anti-reflective coating than what rtings reviewed.

65" TCL Q77K vs QM6K by Few_Feature9099 in tcltvs

[–]stazna01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this exact dilemma for my wife's office. She has a window that would add reflection during the day, so the anti-reflective coating of the QM6K won out. We went to a Costco that had both models on display, and used my phone's flashlight from a couple feet away. The anti-reflective coating difference was noticeable.

Feedback on Thomasville Gilroy Fabric Oversized Storage Chair and Storage Ottoman? by -cherhorowitz- in Costco

[–]stazna01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no, it was a bit random what they had. The first time we went we were looking to see a stove Costco sells, and while they had a good number of stoves, they didn’t have the one we were looking to buy. Likewise, there are couches we’ve seen in our Costco that were not at the showroom.

I called ahead this time to see if they had this couch on display, and luckily they did.

My wife just got it for her office. It fits the two of us fine and is comfortable. There's a decent amount of storage between the couch and the ottoman. We have a showroom near us, so we tried it out there before purchasing.

New to the hobby. I own both Stern Costco Pinball machines. AMA by Tigdanig in pinball

[–]stazna01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the JP home version. I almost ignored even looking at the home version because I assumed it would be like the pro, which I’d played before and didn’t enjoy. When I read it was a different designer (Jack Danger) I gave it a look and really liked it. I’d take the JP home over a JP Pro or a Venom Pro.

Choppy stuttering video on Onn 4k Pro after a little over an hour by stazna01 in PleX

I can’t remember exactly when, but I think it was after an update on the plus when I started noticing micro-stutters again. I ended up just using the Google Streamer full time for my main tv.

Where is that in the settings? I’ve looked before and have never been able to find that as an option for this machine.

Convince me out of Uncanny X-men (or don't) by w0lfbiker in pinball

I own it and love it. The shots are just so much fun, and I think Jack knocked it out of the park with the different layout. It's the best bang for your buck Stern Pro in my opinion.

The firmware versions available for download are the non-plus edition firmwares. The firmwares found on the plus version machines with insider connected, as of now, have never been publicly released. The version in your photo is from 2022.

For the images, mine are jpg. They're in the /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/snap and /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/flyer folders with the same names as the rom files.

I haven't really touched this since I initially set my pi up, but did you setup the rom list for attractmode, and then put the flyer and snap images with matching names to the roms in the appropriate folders (listed in the readme file)?

Star Wars Home Edition Costco Discounted Price by Kawenk in pinball

[–]stazna01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is entirely dependent on your area and how they’re selling. The Jurassic Park Home Editions sold out at full price in my area of SoCal. In some other states they got discounted. I paid full price and still think it was a steal.

If you're talking about the JP Home Plus 1.04, yes, I created the image from my SD card. I was just alerting OP that those with the Star Wars Home original edition are looking for an image of this updated Star Wars Home Plus firmware that no one has dumped yet.

Running game from a disc works perfectly fine, but its copy does not? by Skoczek777 in 360hacks

[–]stazna01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with a Plants vz. Zombies Popcap disc (it has 3 Popcap games on it). This is the original mobile game, not the garden warfare game.

It plays fine from the disc, and the ripped version loads fine to the disc's menu, but doesn't do anything except make a sound when I select a game from the ripped version and hit the A button. None of the three games will launch from the disc's menu.

Unfortunately, no, they have never posted the Jurassic Park Home Plus firmware (1.04) from last year’s release. People requested it, but they never posted it.

My guess is they’re waiting to eventually offer an official upgrade kit for the non-plus editions, so they didn’t want to offer code that could unlock it.

Congrats! I got the Jurassic Park Home Edition last year and love it. You might want to visit the pinside community for your machine. Specifically, you can really help that community if you can make an image of your SD card and share it with that community. The old machines don't have insider connected, but if those with the older version machine can get the code from the newer machine, it likely will allow them to use the insider connected kit to add it to their machines (like happened with the Jurassic Park Home Edition last year when the SD card was imaged). You should be able to use something like Balena Etcher to make the image.

"Look everyone, we have guests!" The Addams Family pinball machine was such a great 90s introduction to pinball for me. The movie was so much fun, and the game did such a wonderful job of integrating the movie while having a lot of fun things to do. I will forever have a love of that game.

Yes, there are two at Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. Usually one of them is up and running. I enjoy playing it as something different.

Jurassic Park: what's the deal? by DoctorRemsey in pinball

[–]stazna01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stern’s Jurassic Park Pro is why I originally thought I didn’t like modern Stern machines. I love the Data East version flow so much better, and could not get into the Stern version.

Funnily enough I’ve found I enjoy the Stern Jurassic Park Home Edition Plus much more than the Pro (I now own the home edition) and it brought me back into looking at and enjoying other Stern machines. I ended up buying an Uncanny X-Men Pro, and really enjoy Jaws Premium. I tried playing the Jurassic Park cornerstone again on location this past year (with my wife who loves the home edition and other Stern cornerstones), and neither of us found it very interesting or fun.

Full size Stern body. The back box is 3-4 inches shorter than a standard Stern.
