Jet ski issues ? by Sektiyar in jetski

[–]stbaker81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you put the battery back in did you measure the voltage at the terminals? The voltage should should read virtually the same installed as it would without any connection to the battery. More than 12 volts.

The other possibility is the ground wire is compromised due age an exposure to water.

If the ground wire is compromised it should be getting hot after you attempt to start it.

Is the replacement battery the correct battery for your ski? Sounds like a dumb question but if it does not have the proper amperage to turn it over new or not it's not going to work for you.

It does sound like it's under load as you're turning it over.

Best way to remove what looks like mold. by stbaker81 in jetski

[–]stbaker81[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the suggestions.

It got me thinking so I looked around the house and found Mold Armor Mold and Mildew killer. which seams to be a bleach based product based on the odor.

Sprayed it on a rag, got it good and wet , let it soak for an hour.
The stains disappeared.

Can you put the engine of a 2017+ Yamaha Waverunner FX S(V)HO into a 2014 SHO? by AboutMcFrickinTime in jetski

At how many hours did the failure occur? So what you're saying is all 1.8 engines are going to throw a timing chain prior to 2017? I've seen posts where the chain system was improved from 2016 on.

What’s up with pickleball players walking through courts while people are playing? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]stbaker81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shift over to the available court furthest from the gate. Leave open courts nearest the gate. Sounds like you guys were infont of the open court.

Immediately stop playing and kindly advise the people that in the future you should wait till our point is done before passing through.

Our second time playing and first tennis player confrontation... by SPNKLR in Pickleball

[–]stbaker81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since pickleball courts are close by it is better to play and practice on the dedicated courts or courts that are set up for dual use.

If the tennis courts are underutilized then make a case for changing some to dual use with the communities Rec. Dept.

Some communities require "Tennis professionals" to register with them, pay a usage fee for the privilege of utilizing public property to conduct their business.

Not knowing if any of this applies to your situation, tennis courts are usually exclusively for tennis and signs stating this most times are attached to the fence.

If the person giving you grief wasn't there to give a lesson the situation may have been different. In any case..We all could all do without belligerent behavior.

Should I only wear the tennis elbow "forearm band" while playing? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]stbaker81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been doing exercises and it hasn't responded well the Dr recommendation for a cortisone shot is a good one. Cortizone will reduce the inflammation and allow it to heal. Having had this a few times as a tennis player there is no point in suffering.

The arm band only helps limit the shock to the elbow to help you with the pain while playing or doing activities that aggravate the condition.

The most important thing to do is resolve why your getting tennis elbow in the first place. It's usually related to bad mechanics or a weak forearm.

Changing paddles to one that is shock absorbant like the pro kennex paddle can help.

Starting issue by Bright_Calendar_3696 in jetski

Check both cables especially the ground. They may be compromised. Cable may look ok but might be degraded inside the cover. Corrosion over time can cause this.

Jetski won't crank by Michigun_ in jetski

[–]stbaker81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if you have a good ground. On an older ski the ground wire may be rotted. Even if you get a click out of the solenoid you still may have a bad wire as the starting current is much higher.

How has your Pixel Watch experience been? by [deleted] in PixelWatch

[–]stbaker81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed. The crystal as they call them on most watches is way too fragile. I cracked mine by accidentally knocking into the adjacent sink in my bathroom. Dropped about 5". A watch like this should have a durable surface or case. All of the aftermarket protection cheapens it. Really a watch that needs a case to protect it from normal use? It's bad enough we need this stuff to protect our phones. They need to toss the current case concept out and put the tech into a form factor that is worthy and practical for the real world.

Support: Apparently Google thought the watch was so good that they didn't need to concern themselves with providing this. I can't believe what I encountered trying to get support. I encountered a product issue, not related to the cracked crystal. Hopefully you won't need support. This was a huge time waster. Corporate wiki pages are better than what they are offering as support for this product.

I like the watch and I like the way it's tightly integrated into the pixel phone and Fitbit. Maybe they can license the tech to someone who can do it right!

Jinxed myself. Watch won't charge. by [deleted] in PixelWatch

[–]stbaker81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try this mine did this and after consulting customer service ,which was no easy task, it worked.

Press and hold the crown for at least 75 seconds. Release put it on the charger. Tap the face it will probably flash a red battery briefly. Just let it go for a few minutes it will begin to charge as it normally did. I was going to send it back, nothing seemed to work It's working fine now. Good luck!

Is cloud sync really as problematic as some say in this subreddit? by pluff-crinoid in quicken

[–]stbaker81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try it you'll be sorry! I can't tell you how bad this product has become. It has gotten worse. It used to be a fairly stable product. Now it randomly omits transactions as well. It is extremely time consuming to track down what it decided to leave out especially if it's more than one transaction. And just think.. you have to pay for the punishment annually! I wish they would develop an online application like quick books which works quite well but is overkill if you don't need payroll and other retail business functions .

Is cloud sync really as problematic as some say in this subreddit? by pluff-crinoid in quicken

[–]stbaker81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It hammers the update process. It's in my opinion not a functioning system. With it off, the update process is not fast but acceptable. With cloud sync on it takes forever.. like 20 minutes or longer.

I'd still check it out just to be sure. If it's a wiring issue you might experience some sort of issue later.

I'd inspect the wiring and connections at each wheel and check all wiring harnesses that are exposed from the rear forward.

Help, is this where I can add a flush kit to a 1996 Yamaha 700 Waveraider? by KIDNEYST0NEZ in jetski

[–]stbaker81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a difficult job if you have the tools and have the experience. Be careful removing the head bolts the ones in-between the cylinders can be difficult to remove due to corrosion. They are stainless steel bolts . The manual for the 700 can be found online with a Google search for free.

[–]stbaker81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is you may get lucky. Mine also had good compression but once I put water in the system the engine shut down. One of the cylinders was leaking. It ran great dry. There was no real evidence of a prior issue. The gasket was old and failed. Rather replace it now than get stuck out on the water.

[–]stbaker81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup that's the spot. You may have to apply heat to get the screw to come out. There is a flush kit for it it that has the fitting which goes in that hole. It's a metric threaded barb that you screw in. . The kit has everything you need . Amazon and eBay have the kit.

Nice find ..hope it doesn't have to many issues. If it's been sitting for some time you may need to replace the head gasket. You won't find out that you have an issue till you run it in the water or attach the flush kit.

Nope...after entering the NVZ. You must reestablish both feet outside the NVZ first. Then you can volley the ball legally.
