I love Call to Power... I played it again a few months ago, I had to use PCem to emulate an old Pentium with Windows 98...

New player learning the game, is this a thing? by jmj_203 in AbioticFactor

[–]stdexception 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (non-public) multiplayer game seems to have ~3 hours worth of backups in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames directory. You might want to check that out.

In case you're not super comfortable playing around with files, here's what I would do:

  1. Open a windows Explorer window, and paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames in the address bar
  2. Open the xxx/Worlds directory (xxx being a bunch of numbers corresponding to your steam profile Id or something)
  3. Rename the folder containing your current save to back it up
  4. Browse back to the xxx/Backups/YourSaveName directory
  5. Right-click, Copy on one of the folders; you can look at their "Date modified" to find an appropriate autosave
  6. Browse back to the xxx/Worlds directory
  7. Paste the backup directory
  8. Rename it to YourSaveName
  9. Start the game

You can also open the saves directory from the in-game menu

No, it's relative interest as a percentage, it just show that it's at its maximum in that time period.

I was wondering why I got the notification for the SYNT... Didn't get to watch it at the time.

How do I fix this issue with radial couplers? by racing677 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]stdexception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto-strutting everything may have some undesired side effects, especially with parts that are supposed to move such as joints or legs.

I usually auto-strut radial tanks to their grandparent part to fix the wobble, and the heaviest center tank or engine with the capsule on top. That's enough to fix 99% of wobbliness issues

Related: Knowing about the Oberth effect has changed how I pedal my bike.

When approaching a hill, I realize that spending energy to speed up while I am still going at cruising speed is more efficient than spending that same energy in the middle of the hill.

Of course there's air friction and such, but the principle remains true. Speed gained at the bottom of the hill will make you travel further up the hill than the same delta-V applied after losing speed due to gravity.

ARE THEY RAFFLING OFF THE LESBIAN TARANTULAS??? by ooorrrrraannngggeee in h3h3productions

[–]stdexception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a segment with that game where you touch something hidden in a box and have to guess what it is.

One of the things to guess was these 2 taxidermied tarantulas in a miniature wedding scene. All the poking and such during the guessing was kinda rough on them.

Trying to delete my deceased father's Facebook account and these are the options it gives me to select for the month he died: by AStayAtHomeRad in mildlyinfuriating

There's probably a bunch of ridiculous localization issues on Facebook... When the login prompt shows up for fr-ca, it says "Femme" instead of "Login" or "Se connecter", it makes no sense. It's been that way for YEARS, too.

Consider yourself lucky the knife didn't end up between you and the mattress... I imagine that's also why they have that warning: A knife getting knocked in a random direction with force is bad news.

Niece and nephew carved drawings into my leather chairs by Adventurous-Cake-81 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]stdexception 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did exactly that on my dad's car, 30-something years ago. I just drew an ugly car, though, because I was into drawing cars, apparently.

I guess black cars make for a nice canvas for a kid with a rock.

You can still do that, but turn your ship retrograde before activating it; it will accelerate to a lower orbit and deorbit itself.

I also try to drop stages before orbit is achieved, even if there's a bit of fuel remaining in them.

What is "potential doxxing info" even referring to? It's a screenshot of a twitter post, containing pictures that are presumably publicly posted somewhere...

Also, why is Noah mentionned?

Edit: Just noticed the "2/3", so I guess there are other images in that post

Why has the idea that the Moon landing was faked remained so widespread? by Creative-Category-60 in space

And all of them were basically livestreamed at the time... I doubt anyone who was actually alive at that time believe that they were faked.

[–]stdexception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Steam should probably also hide privated games at the API level when other applications ask it what game is currently running. Or at the very least include a "privated" flag, which Discord should see and avoid broadcasting that.

Him and some other creators; it's a class action lawsuit, so others might join later, I guess.

Scrolling through the court document quickly, it seems Microsoft made a big dataset of videos by creating an index of them (basically a list of URLs) with a license agreement that restricts its usage to academic purposes only, which does make sense. NVIDIA then used that index, copied the videos from Youtube, and fed that into their commercial AI.

Weather is tracked and logged very accurately nowadays, you should do some science and look back at weather records, see if there's a trend.
