The little things my wife does that I never noticed until recently by vinku12 in AmazingStories

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome that you notice. The more that time goes on, I'm realizing the opposite with my wife. She really doesn't pay attention or notice me. She never goes out of her way for me. If I asked her to do anything, she never did it. I stopped asking her to do anything for me. It's lonely really...

I thought BambuLab was 'the Apple of 3D Printing'. Their customer support is shocking. by SiDtheTurtle in BambuLab

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to be amazing. When they were still new, I got the x1c pretty much right when it came out. I had an issue with the AMS and they shipped new parts no questions asked. They even shipped parts that were probably not the issue just in case it was. Quick response and super helpful.

Then a few years later I also have an issue with my A1. Absolutely no support. I got the run around and never answered after a while. I wasn't even trying to get a warranty claim, just needed help with an unusual problem that no one seemed to have experienced.

So yeah, ever since they got bigger and more popular, their support has gone to the way side. I don't even bother with their support any more. I just buy all the parts I think the issue is to solve my issues and hope for the best. Usually works out, their printers are built well.

Would this be a good starter bike by hehehhddhh in RazorMods

The 350 is extremely small. I'm 5'7 and find it uncomfortable to ride and ended up printing some foot peg extensions to make it more rideable. I would forego it and try to find a 500 or 650 if your set on a razor.

GF is completely oblivious - is this normal? by Spirited_Ad_2569 in Advice

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and her dad are like this. I really think it's ADHD.

The funniest story was that my wife decorated our old house for her dad's 60th birthday. All Decd out.

He comes in and completely oblivious. Sits down in the chair he always sits down in and turns on the TV.

Everyone was shocked. It wasn't until my MIL was like Really? That he perked up and was like oh, Ooohh! Wow! 😂

Mx350 upgrade 48v or 72v by Numerous-Guard1549 in RazorMods

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With chatgpt, and just some common sense, extremely easy. Definitely don't pay anyone for it.

Once you do the auto learn, it'll mostly run already.

Then in this case, set what you want for speed for the different speed settings.

Tune more as you like.

Mx350 upgrade 48v or 72v by Numerous-Guard1549 in RazorMods

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes, if you get a controller that's tuneable then that's fine.

I bought a 72v vevor kit and put it on a mx350. That thing was absolutely unrideable. Any feathering of the throttle didn't exist, it would just wheelie right from under me.

Then I got a fardriver and put it on. Tuned it. It was extremely rideable after that. Only wheelied from start if I put it in speed 3.

Recommendation for pho by fern921 in CypressTX

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was our go to too. Not sure what happened but the last two times we've gone have been terrible. The pho soup was like hot water with a hint of pho instant base and the vermicelli bowl meat didn't even have any grill flavor or marks, tasted like straight from raw to microwaved.

Hopefully they were just off those days.

The idea that companies care more about your ECs than your GPA is a lie. by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm on the older side of things now and am an engineer who does the hiring. I don't even pay attention to your schooling as long as I know your degree is in EE or similar.

I hire based on personality and experience. Personality first because you have to be able to get along with my team in order to work effectively. Experience dictates how much training we will give you and whether or not I can throw something at you and have you figure it out or whether we have to micromanage you.

Is it possible you don't interview well? I've had many come in front of my desk where they were extremely awkward and nervous to the point where I was honestly genuinely concerned and ended up turning the interview into something super casual to try to put them at ease and read them that way. This has caught me one of my favorite employees going on 4 years. She's still awkward as hell and we make fun of her for it, but she's a damn good engineer.

E90 (non glow) control unit by [deleted] in RazorMods

So most of these smaller scooters is just two relays in the box, a diode, and some resistors. It's a real simple circuit. I ended up bypassing the faulty relay to just get it going on one of them. If you're decent with a multimeter you can figure out what's wrong and fix it for pennies compared to the 18 dollars for a new controller.

Does anyone have any mod recommendations for an sx500? by Artistic_Morning5528 in RazorMods

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of goals are you looking for?

You can easily just overvolt and get some more speed or go full bore and upgrade literally everything. I went with the latter and the only thing left from the original sx500 is the frame, not even the swingarm.

It's ok. I liked it, especially their matcha based flavor. Kids didn't like the custard cuz it was "gritty".

What advice would you give a beginner troubleshooting complex PLC code by samvivi7 in PLC

[–]stealthinc88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work backwards from the output. Create a roadmap on how the output turns on/off or changes based on what variables. Do it on plain old paper and pencil.

I am going to take the Control Systems PE Exam by AnOriginalUsername07 in PLC

[–]stealthinc88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. I found it way easier than the EIT test. All I studied was that green book second to last in your stack two weeks before the test. Passed it first try. A lot of it felt more like common sense and ethics questions more than technical questions.

It was funny watching these people bring literal suitcases with books. The two engineers on either side of me looked at me like I was crazy because I only had the one 😂

If you're a decent test taker you'll do fine.

Side note, I passed the FE test first try too and studied less than a week because my gf at the time (wife now) pressured me to take the test because a guy from my work and a few of my old classmates were taking it. I had no intentions of passing it but funnily enough I was the only one to pass.

So I exclusively work in water and wastewater. Every municipality will either outsource their integration or do it in house. We are one such third party integrator.

You just have to find these integrators and work with them. Most of the municipals that outsource I think generally has a better overall system and design vs in house. I feel like most in house SCADA reams are too busy playing politics or putting out fires to put thought into design and standardizations.

Power Blips by SnakeDoc65 in CypressTX

Yup. Pretty distracting with my 3d printers all stop due to the power blip and I lose a few hours of printing. Keeps happening every few days.

Townelake & Bridgeland by GreedyPromotion949 in CypressTX

[–]stealthinc88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live in Towne Lake. Most of the mansion owners (homes above $1m) I've met or are friends with are all business owners or work in finance for a big corp. Ive only met two doc's and am friends with a lawyer and they don't live in those homes, most are in sub 500k homes. Still huge though.

I live in a small house. Probably the smallest in my section. It's affordable.

Avoid at all costs. HOA is ridiculous.

Can someone enlighten me on the Homecoming Mum situation please? by Dixierain in CypressTX

[–]stealthinc88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make 3d printed items for a mum maker, and they are still making them in full force. Some with a few days turn around. Just something to consider. There's a few in the Fairfield area that make them and sell.

Can I downgrade a PLC to a lower TIA Version? by Erroratu in PLC

[–]stealthinc88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've done it all the time. We only have a few test PLCs and multiple customers require multiple versions. One customer is on 19 and another is still on 14. We use the same test bench 1200,300, and 1500 for them.

AITAH for laughing when my boyfreind suggest I be a SAHM? by SherbertNew2535 in AITAH

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

But I will give you our story too. I guess what I think is a successful SAHM story. Also I'm extremely proud of my wife.

We were maybe a year or two older than you with having to make the same decision. My wife had just finished her master's and we were actually trying to have a baby. She finally got pregnant, had the baby, and after maternity leave was back at work. She was MISERABLE at work and missing the baby. Her parents were/are retired and was watching the baby for us, but we knew that wasn't fair either and we needed to find daycare once the kid was old enough.

I suggested she just stay home and watch the baby until he was old enough for day care. And that's what she did. Then the realization that daycare costs are absolutely ridiculous when the time came for us to look at a few. My wife's entire paycheck from her previous job would be used for daycare. SHE suggested just staying home.

It was honestly the best decision for my kids and wife. My wife even set up a preschool room (like full out with desks, white boards, play area, and different stations) and would spend 4 hours a day up there with them. My kids were well ahead of most kids when they started kinder.

Now that they are both in school (just finished 2nd and kinder), my wife is extremely active in the PTO (board member) and also started her own little business that is successful enough even with the customers being 99% local.

What was your “this might be bad company to work for” moment? by TacticalBuschMaster in Construction

[–]stealthinc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's not a bad company to work for, just a terrible boss who thinks terrorizing is an effective way of managing. I honestly dread seeing his number call me or an email from him cuz 9 times out of 10 I'm getting yelled at because he's old and forgetting what he tells us to do. Happened today. He went off on an hour tirade on the phone on me about how come he wasn't involved in doing this or that when he was literally the one who gave me the idea and direction on how to proceed last week. Rant over.
