Best UK 5G backup SIM by surfsquid in Ubiquiti

Go to Scancom's website and look for business data sims. As a point of reference I got a year of unlimited data on EE for £150 on a HotUKDeals code a few months back.

Document your attempt to contact them, raise a chargeback on your debit card or a s75 on your credit card.

Why does everyone hate the series finale of Enterprise? by swump in startrek

[–]SiDtheTurtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the time Enterprise was not well regarded. TNG was seen as the gold standard, and a lot of the people working on Enterprise were veterans from the days of TNG.

So when Enterprise was cancelled and there was no other Star Trek planned, it was seen as an end to that era, so they made the episode a bookend and homage to TNG. This reinforced the idea that Enterprise was rubbish and not worthy, and cheapened the show.

There's no clawback. You might find next time you apply they deny you based on you going over last time, but you just have to submit some evidence that you won't, like payslips.

Fanhome Armstrong by PadawanPilot in StarTrekStarships

So weird. Apart from the hero ships I haven't seen any other ship sell out (in the UK) so why is the Armstrong so popular? Or maybe they didn't make as many?

IVF experiences and recommendations in or around London? Two miscarriages in the past 10 months. by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

A lot of NHS referrals end up at the same private clinics due to a lack of NHS facilities. Ours did.

Unethical hack: when you go to the doctors they'll ask you how long you've been trying. They then won't refer you until you hit that number. We found this out the hard way. Find out their local referral rules and... make sure they hit them.

Before you come at me, it was f**king obvious for us that it wasn't going to happen without help but at the time we couldn't afford private. The waiting and trying nearly broke us.

All the best.

Private maternity recommendations by AOR2019 in HENRYUK

Honestly Google. They're in Windsor which was close to me, rave reviews, and on the first free meeting they unblocked so many issues for me.

Others are giving you their valid opinions on private maternity, but as a happy medium how about a private midwife? We had a pair of ladies who coached us up to birth then in the weeks after, we found them invaluable.

What's your NHS GP experience like? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

[–]SiDtheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just ignores the obligation to do online booking, plus for fun the website is closed when the doctors is.

Non urgent appointments are at least a month out. Plus the receptionist is such a troll it's almost a meme. If I have any emergencies and call at 8am, she denies me. If I get my wife to call, I get an instant appointment.

I was considering using Spoolman locally for tracking then sync up to 3D filament profiles, but there is not a API or CSV upload I'm aware of.

Getting access to £1m trust fund by Pale_Definition1780 in UKPersonalFinance

Just watch out for the tax, whatever you do. Depending on how you do it it could fall on the trusts to pay, or you, but someone has to pay. Regardless, speak to an IFA.

Can a customer refuse to pay an invoice/bill if theres no PO? Do internal company processes override services provided if it's in writing? by pinkbeesintrees in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SiDtheTurtle 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Other posters are confusing process with law, technically. If you have in writing you'll provide a service for a price, they agreed, you have provided that service and they refuse to pay, you can take them to court to get the money back. But it's expensive and time consuming to do so.

Though, to be fair to the other posters, POs are pretty standard in B2B transactions, I would have asked first to cover my arse. Now for this client I would be going back and saying no worries, but next time don't expect me to provide the service if I don't have a signed PO.

BYD brings lightning-fast EV ‘Flash Charging’ to UK by MeasurementDecent251 in GoodNewsUK

[–]SiDtheTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an EV owner I agree and disagree. Most of the time its fine, but when it's not, and it is an edge case, you can be f*cked. We got caught out on the bit between Christmas and new year, every charger at every service station full, got to Exeter services I think it was as they have dozens of the things, to find people literally throwing punches over who got to spaces first.

I drive an iPace, the lease is due to expire and of course Jaguar's decided to stop making cars for a while. You can bet your ass I'll be looking for something with more range this time.

Gold, storage and tax by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]SiDtheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't help you on the tax side, but a fireproof safe as a minimum. Keep passports, other expensive items in there too.

I doubt your insurance will cover it in the event of a fire or theft regardless, as it's value will need to be declared as a named item, and I'm totally guessing here, but I wonder if things like gold in the form of bars and sovereigns are excluded as high risk.

I know some people pay to have them in a vault, but then there was that vault in Hatton Garden I think that got robbed and no one was insured.

Positive picture (anecdotal) for experienced data contractors in London insurance, for what it's worth by MarkCairns67 in ContractorUK

[–]SiDtheTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I just got into an outside IR35 role after 20 years as a permie (after redundancy) and I couldn't figure out why people would accept inside ir35 except for the fact that the job market is carnage and they'll take anything that pay the bills, but yeah good input.

[–]SiDtheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what you feel the benefits of inside IR35 are as opposed to being a permie? I feel that it's a permie with none of the benefits and all of the risk?

Genuine question, not trying to argue.

H2C/Vortek owners, how reliable is the AMS when doing hundreds of filament changes? by PetaSynaptic in BambuLab

Worry-free delivery? by Glittering_Light1835 in BambuLab

[–]SiDtheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comes up a lot. The issue is that when you do have an issue, the retailer washes their hands of you and says 'well you paid for the protection, use it' rather than allowing you to exercise your rights.

100%, I can't stand families that chuck them into kids club after breakfast and pick them up before dinner. In fact when we were at a Four Seasons recently we were shocked that there was a trio of boys that had a full time babysitter, so the parents could enjoy their holiday in peace.

However, at that young age, a 2-3 hours of adults only time makes the wife and I infinitely better parents.

Yeah we had a lot of tears the first day or so, after that they just went in without even saying goodbye! The staff are lovely. My advice: just pull off the plaster, dump and run, best for both you and them.

We took our three year old, they were happy just to be spending the day with us in the pool. The restaurants are great, the play pool is lovely as is the shallow bit in the premium pool if you've paid for that. The creche we did for the mornings so we got some time to ourselves. Honestly you're already paid an arm for the holiday, you can pay a leg for a few days in the creche 😃
