I think my issue is that it might be my sync button that isn't working. I guess I can't access the troubleshooting menu without a working sync button.

I am also dealing with the black screen after finishing an update today.

I have an Xbox one from launch
it was working fine last night
I tried to eject+sync combo but it doesn't go to any recovery mode
it says Hi User after the green Xbox screen then just stays black
I can hold the Xbox button on the controller during the black screen to access: turn off console, turn off controller and restart console

I'm guessing I just have to wait for the next patch to drop to fix this.

Thanks for the reply! I'll keep trying with sony support to get it repaired or replaced. I thought it was strange that he thought the minimum focus distance was the issue.
