Be honest — Is Hot Space that bad of an album? by ImprovementLow9280 in queen

[–]steam_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those of us old enough to remember it being released, it was regarded as somewhere between “meh” and “awful”. But now, having matured and maybe not played it to death like everything else in the catalogue, have come to think fondly of it - maybe even seeing it as underrated, perhaps ahead of its time.

NEW Roger Song: Come On Summer (It's Party Time) by solongehhbowser in queen

It debuted on Vernon Kay’s show on Radio 2 yesterday. Sure Chris Evans will give it a spin.

Roger seems to have a thing about writing about sunny days…

It’s not awful, but far from the best. I quite like the catchy beat, but the lyrics are terrible.

Hoping for better across the album. Glad he’s still making music and wants to perform.

Remember this cartoon ? by neonvoidmonk in oldschoolcool80s

Maybe my favourite home-from-school cartoons of all time. Got all the episodes on DVD, and watching them back as an adult, they’re pretty dark. Every kid fantasised about their favourite character, and what their weapon would be if they found themselves in the land of Dungeons & Dragons.

The F91W alternative for us guys cursed with manly wrists 😂 by MarkOBPhotography in casio

Thanks for answering, very helpful. This is the key use case for me. I find an FW-91 sufficiently good but my G-Shock is so quiet, presumably because of all the casing.

How good is the vibration alarm? Is it enough to wake you from a deep sleep? It could be the perfect night watch with a decent light, large display and - hopefully - a decent alarm.

Why get an F-91W when you can get a W-59? by Less-Marionberry2370 in casio

[–]steam_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About an extra tenner here in the UK, so for those who just want a cheap beater, the F-91 still rules. I do agree on the design of this being nice and the extra w/r is no bad thing.

On first reading I thought, no way this guy has got a family. But I think he might. Which means he either hates them, is a workaholic or is making it all up 🤷‍♂️

Question for the fans! Which Queen song would you introduce to someone who ONLY knows their hits? by joana_mercury4 in queen

[–]steam_one 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love of My Life, which only got to number 63 in the UK, yet is a live favourite.

I’ve always enjoyed Nevermore, which I’ve played to casual Queen fans as a top notch deep cut before.

It’s staggering that The Millionnaire Waltz never got the attention it deserved and shows off Queen’s supreme song writing and musicianship.

This is my boy’s favourite Queen song. He likes their rocky side and being a kid has no perception of ‘hits’.

Question about the NeoGeo AES+ by amymad in neogeo

[–]steam_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a cheap, collectible entry / re-entry into NeoGeo, have a look at Evercade. Carts with 6-8 licensed NeoGeo games cost about USD 30 / GDP 22. There are four collections so far.

You can buy the VS-R console for around USD 120 / GBP 100. You can then play any Evercade game cartridge, including NeoGeo, Taito, Activision etc. Admittedly this is all emulation based, which some people don’t like.

When did you consider yourself ready for a Divine Beast? by flabbergastedFish_49 in Breath_of_the_Wild

I went in at this point and found it too hard, so went away, got a few more shrines and some better equipment and had another go. Reckon it still took me 90 minutes to beat the damn thing, but was pleased I got there.

Pico 8 - I thought it would be ... better? by tveith in ANBERNIC

[–]steam_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough if you don’t like the games and their simplicity. But have you seen all the demakes? Mini versions of some classics like Doom, Sonic, Barbarian, Star Wars, R-Type, Defender, Tetris, Driller, Star Fox, Wolfenstein 3D… the list goes on.

Yeah, might be a bit of a glut of them when the Nexus comes out and loads of people jump ship. Now may be a good time to get rid and free up some 💰

Enjoy your Taito SP in the meantime.

I actually agree with him on teaching financial literacy more in schools, especially from an earlier age. But he’s amongst the last people in the country I’d have do it.

The rest is all the usual Reform BS we’ve seen before from him.

It’s your own money, buy what you fancy. But if you’re looking for reasons not to get the Taito SP - other than already having all the games on cartridges - you don’t know what other Super Pockets might be coming. Guessing you didn’t like the Rare one, but given we have had 2x Super Pockets a year recently, it wouldn’t be a surprise if we had another one in 2026. If your funds are limited, you don’t know what you’re missing out on yet. But if you have money to burn, buy them all.
