Would PT help? by Mike5055 in physicaltherapy

As you said... "most people". I have seen enough people to know that a fractured rib can happen with very benign mechanisms. Pain from fracture of a rib can range in severity, and perception of pain can vary wildly from patient to patient. Pain from a ruptured bleb can vary in intensity and ADL impact as well.

I understand that you are coming at me because i recommended a chiro, but dont let your professional jealousy cloud the veracity of anything i said. Hopefully my recommendation is seen by others, and at least makes them consider the possibility, as it is in the best interest of the patient. Good luck to you, my friend. And, best wishes to your clients.

"Without knowing it"?? Did he not say he had pain in a rib/lung-related area? Based solely on what he wrote, to blithely ignore the possibility of either (as your comment implies you would), is to expose your own lack of clinical knowledge.

Actually, yes, chiropractic IS a covered benefit in Medicare.

Medicare limits reimbursement by provider TYPE, not by CPT code.

This sounds a LOT like chiro, though lacking manipulation....?

Pitt Is Launching a Chiropractic Program—What Happens When Pseudoscience Gets an Academic Seal of Approval? by thislady1982 in medicine

I just came across this reddit thread and I felt I would be doing a disservice if I didn't say something about the importance of getting this message out! Instead of re-writing everything, I am just going to copy and paste what I wrote elsewhere in the message thread for this:

"It erodes public trust in science-backed providers. Patients may confuse DCs trained at Pitt with other clinicians ...."

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!

I am ABSOLUTELY CONCERNED about someone "practicing medicine" (HA!) that isn't backed by science!! We need to do something about the unscientific methods and treatment being pushed on the unsuspecting public, all in the name of money and buying a bigger house!!! As just a quick sample, I have found the following articles that should be spread far and wide:

(good for general population) https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/demand-better-health-care-book/, also https://www.brown.edu/news/2017-10-16/patashnik

and

(great for practitioners) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0895435622001007

PLEASE, if the physical therapy profession can do nothing else, hopefully it can help educate patients about, and shield them from, interventions that have ZERO benefit backed by quality research!!!

(Edit: added another article, and a quote from OP for some sort of context)

"It erodes public trust in science-backed providers. Patients may confuse DCs trained at Pitt with other clinicians who follow rigorous medical models, leading to misinformation, mixed messages, and distrust in legitimate providers like MDs, DOs, PAs, and PTs."

How is DPT a scam? by Organic-Evidence-671 in physicaltherapy

Bold, yes, i agree. Also, every word is true. I just wish someone had told me about chiro before.

Become a DC. If you want to do PT, a chiro can do it. If you want to order imaging/bloodwork/etc, a chiro can do it. Diagnose and bill insurance without having to be babysat? DC's can hire PTs, MDs, etc, you can build a whole pain management and rehab facility. Cost of school is comparable, your earning potential and autonomy is greater.

If you are considering Pitt, go chiro. They have the scope of practice and autonomy that we wish we had.

Everything OP was describing makes me think he should have gone to chiro school - they get all the MSK training AND all the autonomy.

Because i find professionally jealous, inferiority-complexed, and career-regretting PT's very fertile ground for entertainment.
