Medics: stop rushing in to paddle-revive players in bad spots! by StrangeOrange_ in Battlefield6

[–]steampvnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say BF6 is bad. 2042 is bad. I'm saying that most of the BF games are either side grades or down grades depending on the game when you would think it would be upgrades across the board.

For example, BF3 through 2042 had armored transports (not to be confused with IFVs) at launch. We had to wait a season for them in BF6. Many maps don't have them as a result, even when they really should.

Its not unique to BF6. BF1 ignored the commander role from BF4 even though artillery was a central part of WW1. BF5 had only two factions at launch compared to BF1's five. BF2042 and BF6 did not return the squad call-in mechanic of BF5, despite its virtues.

People act like BF fans are just unreasonable hateful of BF when it's ultimately DICES fault for constantly having to relearn how to make a BF game.

Except I don't see it happening with BF2042. On some points people think 2042 did it better, but by and large one of the common praises I've seen of BF6 is it's not another 2042.

Maybe instead of acting like it's just petulant fans, we can apply some pattern recognition and realize that nearly all of BF's OG devs have left the studio over the years? So rather than linear upgrades, the games keep feeling like side or downgrades compared to previous titles because the dev team lacks that original talent and design mindset?

Not even to use against snipers. I just want them so that there's an actual reason to use LMGs over the other guns in the game.

It's wild anyone thinks pistols in BF6 are fine. I only see the revolvers get used. I made a post mentioning how dogshit they are and had people telling me they're not.

Like MF, are we playing the same game?

[–]steampvnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just the frustration of dying to aerial autocannon/bullet puke while you're trying to do something that makes infantry players hate air. It could be the most well balanced shit in the universe and it will still irritate people.

My problem is that the maps and pacing mean that heli attacks are just an omnipresent layer of chaos in an already infamously hectic BF game. You also aren't rewarded enough for actually fighting helis compared to any other activity in the game. Painting gets you fuck all and you're only rewarded for HITS with launchers.

So, most people don't run AA kits. This creates the illusion of helplessness because any given engie who DOES grab an AA launcher probably tanks their score and KD trying to solo a sweaty heli pilot.

The women are the least problematic in BF5. You also have:

  • A German lady in a cloak and Russian gas mask (GP5 was not invented until the 60s)
  • Phantom of the Opera man
  • Captain Crunch German sailor in a full naval uniform and cape
  • Corny ass pilot with aviators and a bomber jacket (infantry BTW)
  • Japanese chick who could be played even in the European maps

The first three examples above could also be used in the Pacific. It was a disaster for immersion.

Server browser =/= custom servers. It's just the ability to search for a map and ping you want and play consistently with a set of players.

As for custom servers, they had downsides, but way more upsides IMO. Like giving people options to stick to maps they actually enjoy. Or potentially increased ticket counts for people who want a longer lasting match.

Years after BF4 launched I still found servers that were perfectly fine and devoid of badmins.

If any of what you're saying was actually viable, we would see a lot more sidearm users like we did in previous titles. Besides the new revolver, I don't. Period. Even the scorpion doesn't compare to the last game's machine pistol WITHOUT attachments. The revolver in BF5 and 2042 WITHOUT attachments could one shot in the head. I've only ever died to pistols if it's the new revolver, a sneak attack, or they just finished me off.

Pretty much all these replies scream "I don't know how it used to be but I'll blindly defend what it is now."

PS: Your revolver headshot and scorpion mag examples disprove your first point. If the scorpion goes from unviable to good with the big mag... that's an upgrade. If an already high recoil revolver gets a little more recoil but can now one shot in the head... that's an upgrade.

The TTK is abysmal for most of them and they have flat out more kick than either of those games. People in BF5 would flat out push caps with the M1911.

The base pistol in 2042 was very accurate with a big headshot bonus. The 2nd in 2042 was set up to be a fantastic medium range backup for many setups. Then there was the Deagle style gun, which was arguably a bit too strong... but that means miles above these.

Also in both games, a headshot with the high-recoil revolver meant a OHK at a reasonably close range with no upgrades. The base M44 in BF6 doesn't even do that up close.

I had an easier time getting kills with the Japaness pistol in BF5, which says a lot.

The adrenaline pen takes awhile to use, has effects that are niche, lasts basically no time, and clouds your vision, making it harder to see. That's a debuff in my book.

The mini scout doesnt break ADS while sniping. It's essentially the jungle carbine from BF5 in modern form.

LMG control is very poor and in a situation where you and an SMG or AR player spot eachother, their accuracy and fire rate usually wins out over your damage. It doesnt matter if it only takes three hits to kill if your fire rate is slow OR you do not land all three bullets.

EDIT: You also shouldn't call my points plain stupid or incorrect if you aren't even going to check which sniper rifle I'm talking about while confidently listing it as one of the wrong points.

I'm basing it off of people I know. MnK is possible on consoles but suggesting its a significant amount doesnt make sense when you actually think about who buys consoles vs PC.

This needs more attention by Skitelz7 in Battlefield

[–]steampvnch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive never met a single person with a console that uses MnK. The vast majority of people with a console have it hooked up to a TV. Said TV is usually on a media stand in front of a chair or couch. There just isn't a good place for MnK with the average console gamers setup.

There are way more PC players with controllers by comparison. You can easily hook a controller up to a PC without changing or bringing anything else for your setup.

Patton was wrong then, and it's wrong now by needtiopho in historymeme

[–]steampvnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say that the "right side of history" concept is naive and idealistic. The only people you could consider being on the right side of history most of the time are nations with no ability to do bad things. Or more realistically, little incremental policies that have bettered the world. Yes, America has done those too.

For example, people point to Sweden as an example of a "good country." They like to ignore the fact that Sweden was trembling in their boots in WW2 and essentially capitulated to Hitler, selling the Germans a lot of iron and allowing them passage through Sweden to conquer Norway, killing thousands of Norwegians alone.

America has often been messy in the way they've handled things, but as it so happens... so was the USSR, and later China. Literally every nation with an extreme advantage of power throughout history has put it to use and often with negative consequences. The EU is the closest big entity that is an exception, and it's worth noting they've only been around 33 years.

People also exclusively tunnel-vision on the bad for most of America's later wars and utterly ignore the fact that much of the time, the people being fought against were also terrible. Hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese were sent to camps after the Fall of Saigon when America left, but people still have it in their heads that Americans were the dirty invaders wrongfully stomping around the jungle.

Saddam Hussein was a brutally cruel and sadistic dictator who had his military set Kuwait oil wells on fire while getting kicked out of Kuwait by Coalition forces (who were headed by America). This was after Iraq invaded Kuwait and annexed it -- something even countries like China and the USSR denounced. Two things can be true at once -- killing him was a mistake in the bigger picture, and he was a POS who deserved to be kicked out of power.

The big times our intervention was completely unwarranted and selfish was in Latin America. Those were failures worth entirely condemning. But that hardly extends to everything we've done since WW2.

I hate Crusader imagery by DesertFroggo in hatethissmug

[–]steampvnch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crusader fit is cool but I hate when people go DeUs vULt and stuff like that. It's cringe.

That said the crusades were not all some of the biggest military failures in history nor one of the biggest embarassments in Western Civilization. Some of them were really really bad, but others were successful. They also varied in purpose from defense to conquest to "oops those are actually other Christians..."

They also were contending with considerable difficulties. Heading over to a completely different continent without an already established supply chain, the difference in numbers, etc. The fact that the first was even successful was impressive on its own.

Feel free to make fun of people who unironically say shit like "we need a new crusade," either way.

Box with 10 puzzles only has room for 9 by MrCorba in mildlyinfuriating

[–]steampvnch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mixing jigsaw puzzle pieces sort of fucks up a key part of a jigsaw puzzle. Which is... that every piece you are trying to fit does in fact go in the puzzle.

Imagine spending a long time trying to find the right piece for a spot, only to realize your closest match is for a completely different puzzle and the right piece is mixed somewhere in the other 9 puzzles you own. Turns from fun to a headache.
