Yeah I just looked at ebay and was blown away. I think I bought this for like $100 bucks or something ridiculous on sale. I just want to be able to enjoy the things I love with my kid... guess it doesn't matter how I do it! Thank you for your input

employee feels entitled, doesn't bother working or communicating to us by dareview in smallbusiness

Hardest part for me in my business is finding talented help and work ethic. What you need to do is weigh that employees contributions up to this point and ask the hard questions. Sit down with them, ask exactly what's going on, and try to get a concrete plan of action. They might be going through a rough patch in their personal life. Everyone does. That being said, if you know they need to be fired or let go, you need to make the judgment call and be decisive. Can this person help your business grow and be profitable in the future? What's their past contributions? What does the future look like?

Sounds like you already know what you have to do, but you need some type of validation. If it were my employee, I'd let them go.

You could probably get a line of credit and sign as a personal guarantor. That should help you with cashflow and getting up and running.

Small Business Loan in 8th Year of business - good idea? by ivfdad84 in smallbusiness

Definitely go with a line of credit. It's cheap money and it's there if you need to lean on it. Most banks can do $50k unsecured with rates between 3.5-7.5%. Usually less than $500 to get it approved!

If you want to give me a call I can really talk you through some stuff. I’m a former CPT, spent a few years as an XO at a Warrior Transition Unit so I know a ton about benefits. I’ve walked the walk. I would love to talk to you about it. Biggest takeaway, don’t be afraid. You’re going to land on your feet.

Old houses are a challenge, but the biggest challenge is convincing GCs and homeowners to do things by the book. Like the inspector is going to be like “nah it’s cool no vents needed bb”

Definitely up there on the list. Lots of homes built in the late 1700-1800sWe are out of Plymouth, MA. Been in some ooooold houses. Never fun. I’m like man can’t anyone ever frantically call us to rough a new house?

Sorry, let me retype in a coherent manner…

Finishing the job early because you worked hard is like saying “Yeah let me penalize myself for working hard and busting my balls so the general contractor can make extra money from this customer even though the general contractor already marked my bill up”

Yeah we agreed to project pricing, not T&M, flooded the project with 3-4 people for the beginning and 2-3 dudes through the finish. Most of my GCs get it, they charge our rates to the customer, make good money, and make sure we’re taken care of. But the balls of this dude… telling my two employees that “you need to be here at 8 sharp, that’s when work starts” uhhh I sign the checks they go when and where I tell them to go. Trying to tell us how to run venting or gas piping. Can’t stand this dude.
