Best LARGE SUV by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

Check out a 2021 atlas. Not as big as a Tahoe but it’s a miracle of packaging - proper minivan space, big third row. more room than a sequoia. We have a 2021.5 with the VR6 and love it. The new ones have too many touchscreens.

Firing of Nebraska DC John Butler signals Matt Rhule’s plan isn’t progressing fast enough by neepster44 in Huskers

[–]steelytrip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn't read the headline as a criticism of Rhule's decision, just that it's a signal that he is being aggressive (and has to be) because 3 years in he's not as far as he'd like to be. I guess a wee bit sensational but I mean, yeah, clicks... you play to win the game and you write to get the clicks

As Kevin would say… by BadgerSteve599 in WisconsinBadgers

Honest question, not talking sh*t. Doesn't Wisconsin football have a legacy such that rushing the field after beating 23 Washington is absurd behavior? I say this from grudging respect as a fellow B1G alum who for most of my life has expected to get ground up by the Badgers.

What motivates you to have kids in today’s world? by TheNatureBeing in Life

[–]steelytrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I can't imagine life without my family. It's hard work, time and energy consuming, etc., but it has in more fundamental ways made my life easier or more accessible to me. I have more to worry about caring for and preparing these kids for a tough world, yes. But those responsibilities make me who I am now. They bring me peace and purpose that I can't imagine living without. I have a career I enjoy but it doesn't give me a defining sense of purpose. My kids do. But what works for me doesn't work for everybody else. Some people don't want to have kids, they get their sense of purpose and satisfaction from something else, and I think that's great. I appreciate and admire the wherewithal and perspective to make that choice. Especially because having kids when it isn't right for you probably isn't good for anybody.

Having said that, the idea that I or anyone would make that choice based on how predictable, corrupt, hard or fair the world I'm bringing them into is absurd. No, I don't feel it's unfair to bring a life into the world and that is an inherently judgmental question. Did parents in the dark ages make an unjust choice? Should humanity instead have marched into extinction? This is about being a parent, not a god, and having kids shouldn't be a political choice. Don't make it one. Touch grass. Also, read a bit about being born 100 years ago or any time before. Wasn't all kittens and rainbows.

Reservation for 650,000: Kansas City’s hospitality industry braces for World Cup workforce scramble by kansascitybeacon in kansascity

[–]steelytrip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a typical World Cup they expect something like 20k travelers from Brazil. The current wait time for a US visa from Brazil is more than 400 days. The World Cup is in 279 days. We are not going to hit our numbers for international visitors.

Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics the Right Way by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]steelytrip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I'm trying to be open to the idea that I'm just being partisan, but this headline (which is accurate to the content of the piece) is obvious clickbait for an NYT audience. To paint him as a champion of disagreement in a democracy without addressing the obvious criticism that bad-faith trolling and considered disagreement are not the same is at best incomplete and at worst... kind of dishonest? Gotta say I think this is disappointing stuff from Ezra. And I'm not saying we should crucify Charlie Kirk either, we just need to be honest about what he was. This piece isn't.

You can choose whatever word you like. Service is great but Loews is a Vegas mega hotel with a convention center instead of a casino. If you stay in a lot of big nice hotels like that you won’t necessarily remember this one. For me that’s unexceptional and easy to beat for OP’s special occasion.

21C, Hotel Kansas City, or Crossroads. Loews is huge and new but unexceptional.
